Am learning a lot
I have never worked so hard in my life. The process has so much stress, but it is the progress the feels the best.
Am enjoying being here
Ethnic and personality diversity is a huge issue on campus. The campus can become very cookie-cutter and can seem very homogeneous, but the curriculum works to open one's mind. This eventually creates a situation where the individual is strong enough to break away from the mainstream culture.
In addition, the gender inequality between males and females impacts interaction dramatically. CU has more girls than boys, so the ladies can be a bit territorial.
Bang for the buck
Being at a Jesuit Institution gives me the skills to awaken the other sides of “self.” This awakening gives me the ability to critique the society which surrounds me. The emphasis on my degree is no longer on material gain for myself. I realize that that rationale stems from an assumption that money can buy all the satisfaction I require. My education has taught me just the opposite. It has stimulated an other-oriented me. When I help others, I experience liberation from the customary preoccupation with “self.” It also allows me to expand my focus beyond viewing my success as a victory for my tribe, my family, my community or my ancestors, but as an triumph to all of those who are underrepresented, misrepresented and in search for truth. Consequently, I have grown to appreciate other faiths, while being more affirmed in my own.
A Jesuit education, in its purest form, is an active force that participates in the world, but does not assimilate to it. The schools that bear the name work extraneously to hasten the coming of Christ. While awaiting His return, these institutions attempt to ease the discomfort of those who suffer here on Earth. In doing so the language of justice has rested on the tongue of the student. This is most profoundly true for me. Not having a private or religious affiliated academic background prior to attending Creighton, I have grown to appreciate being able to see God in my studies. Finally, having a Jesuit education has prompted a sense of responsibility and social awareness in me. I have been able to recognize the things most important in life are those Ad majorem Dei gloriam, for the greater Glory of God.
Tips for prospective students
Become who you are faster. My service to others has been the most enriching experience of my personal growth outside the classroom. I think the most instrumental action in this process was applying what I learned in the classroom and bringing it to the Center for Service and Justice Office. I am a Justice and Society major and have considered my vocation to be working for Justice and Peace in whatever way I can be most effective. I believe the Center for Service and Justice could bring their mission to a larger audience by encouraging other students to transcend their current selves and become active in social justice issues.
Great for these types of students
Having such a service oriented background has led me to become aware of a world of multi-cultures. Serving so many different people with different needs and perspectives has given me increased personal insight to each culture. My service experiences have humbled me while stimulating considerable personal growth. I am truly thankful for the place where I am now. Consequently, I have changed my opinion regarding how I view resources and how I resolve what I deem “what I deserve” from the world. Throughout this journey, my center of gravity is most certainly expanded to those outside my innermost circle to include those who I may not know on a personal level. In addition to having an education that serves, my experiences have instilled a sense of urgency to rectify the living conditions of those I serve and those who are often disenfranchised by society. Ultimately, committing my life to service has created a faithful, fervent servant and heightened consciousness of myself and those around me to be virtuous stewards of The Lord’s Creation.

Am learning a lot
I am learning a lot at Creighton University, and I am having fun while doing it! The professors are wonderful. They know their stuff, and they make class very enjoyable. The classes are challenging, but it is all worth the hard work that I have to put in.
Am enjoying being here
I made lifelong friends right from the start! They are all so fun and amazing friends. They make being here at CU very enjoyable and fun. There is always something going on in the halls of the dorms. CU also has a lot of activities throughout the week and especially on the weekend. I have found myself homesick some, but getting involved in the MANY activities and events that Creighton offers definitely helps keep my mind off of being homesick and focus on enjoying my time here at college.
Bang for the buck
I will admit, Creighton is EXPENSIVE! I was almost going to not be able to attend CU because of the price, but I talked with the admissions people and we worked it out so that I could come here! And, boy am I glad that I did get the chance to come here. Yes, Creighton is expensive, but it is soo worth every penny. The teachers, the students, and the lifelong friends that are made because of coming here make it all worth the money that I am paying to attend. I know that if I had attended the cheaper state school that I was going to attend, I would not have received as good of an education that I am receiving here.
Tips for prospective students
I suggest taking as many college courses in high school that you can! Most high schools will pay for that which will take a great burden off of you and your parent's wallets! Also, DO YOUR HOMEWORK! You will be amazed how much easier a class becomes and how much more you understand the material when you simply do the homework! Also, if you are stuck on a problem or you don't understand a lesson go in and talk with the professor. That is what they are there for, and most are more than willing to take the time it takes for you to be able to understand the material. They want to see you succeed.
Great for these types of students
Creighton University is great for the type of student that likes to do service projects and help people, for the student that wants a challenge, and for the student that wants to have fun while working hard!

Am learning a lot
Creighton challenges each student academically. It requires each student to study hard and make a great effort. At the same time there are many great resources for students. Each professor is willing to always make an appointment and make sure you understand the fundamentals of the course. Due to the smaller private student population, it feels as if the professors are more approachable.
Am enjoying being here
There is always something fun to do! Whether its during the day, night, weekends, or holidays! The campus looks beautiful with the lights up during the winter and the Christmas light ceremony is really fun with good food! There are Wednesday After Class events where you make cookies, make crafts, and other fun stuff! Not to mention are awesome concerts we have twice a year! This year we had Jacks Mannequin playing for the Fallzapalooza concert!

Creighton has been nothing short of amazing. Everyone on campus is extremely friendly. All of my professors make time for one on one meetings and are very caring.
Tips for prospective students
I would definitely recommend coming here! There are many opportunities on and off campus.
Academic Rigor
Although I find myself in a harder area of study, academics here are challenging but very managing. Professors will always help you and set you up for success!
Dorm Life
Freshman year may be a little rough, but all dorms after that are great!
Food and Dining
There is a lot of variety. If campus food isn't your thing, there are plenty restaurants located around campus downtown!
What to do for fun
Omaha is filled with so much diversity and events downtown. There is a wide variety of food places, summer concerts, and events all year long!
Bang for the buck
Although Creighton seems very pricey at first, they are generous with scholarship money given away and financial need help.
Clubs and Activities
There are almost too many clubs and activities on campus to count. I was surprised with how many were offered on such a small campus!
Campus Safety
Recently Creighton has issued a POM device to better ensure safety. Campus security is 24/7 and has always been quick and helpful. Even if you need someone to walk you somewhere at night they will send someone!

creighton university is the right size, big enough, but not too big, and located in an urban setting. the university is well run by jesuits, with a pleasant and open atmosphere. academics are rigorous, extra curricular and student life are plentiful.
Tips for prospective students
math and science should be your strong suits, although a rounded high school experience would be best. the school is strong on liberal arts. don't wait too long to find your major, spend some time with counselors if you have not made a choice by mid-freshman year.
Academic Rigor
put in the time to study as a freshman and get used to the pace of college academic life. high school is nowhere near the time demand of college, so get used to sacrificing some weekend time to study, stay on top of things.
Dorm Life
it's great being a freshman at creighton. all first year students live in the same dorm building. there are always plenty of fun activities going on, sponsored by the student council or dorm life. the floors alternate men and women, there is a center of the floor for gathering on each level. it makes for a good common meeting place to decompress after classes.
Food and Dining
take the meal plan and get your meals in. this place is like eating at a restaurant, there are so many choices. the food is top rate, i cannot stress that enough.
What to do for fun
greek life, flag football, clubs are all part of the freshman experience at cu. the basketball team is d1, so there is always competitiveness at that level. if you life to work out, there is a fitness area with any machine or free weight needed, plus elliptical machines, stationary bikes, rowing equipment and lots of other equipment. no reason to get out of shape.
Bang for the buck
so far i'm very happy with my choice of creighton. five classmates from my high school also chose creighton, so there was not a total stranger feeling in my first weeks on campus. i had my second guesses late in the summer after high school graduation, but after i arrived and moved into the dorm, i was very happy. i know the cost of cu is on the higher end, but i feel the class sizes are reasonable to allow plenty of instructor interaction. i've always had professors that are easy to get in touch with and meet should i have questions.
Great for these types of students
great for the student who would otherwise be overwhelmed at a public university. i think the large majority of cu students come from rural settings and midwestern states, with the exception of the high number of students coming from hawaii. cu is a big draw for hawaiians because of the jesuit influence.
Clubs and Activities
there is a club for every activity and hobby you can think of.
Greek Life
joined pike first year.
Campus Safety
excellent. omaha is a metropolitan city, but it is not that big. the campus feels secure, there is a security presence at all times. there are shuttles that are always available.

Medium sized community that feels like a small, close knit community. Really follows the core Jesuit values (i.e. working for and with others). A place where not only are academics encouraged, but participation in extracurriculars as well.
Tips for prospective students
Have an idea of what you would like to study at Creighton and see how large the department is here. Creighton, in my opinion is a perfect fit for students wishing to continue their education at a professional school, due to the fact that Creighton has so many professional schools (Pharmacy, Medical, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Dental, Law). Creighton tends to give a large percentage of their accepted students a scholarship, varying in monetary amounts of course, so that should also be a factor in your decision.
Academic Rigor
It really depends on your academic background going into Creighton. Many classes pushed me to do more work than I ever did in high school. For example, general biology and general chemistry. The professors are excellent and really want you to succeed, even going as far as holding review sessions on the weekends on their free time.
Dorm Life
For the most part, I loved dorm life. I lived in swanson hall, a suite style building in my freshman and sophomore year and found it comfortable. My room had an attached bathroom that I shared with my roommate and the room next to me. Other than that, the other dorms on campus are livable. No major damages or need of polishing up in the dorms.
Food and Dining
It's dorm food, what's new? It's obviously not restaurant quality but it's hard to attain such a quality when you're cranking out large quantities of food every day. I enjoy the fact that Creighton offers a to-go option for students who don't have enough time to eat in the dining hall.
What to do for fun
There's the old market which is an amazing place to explore during the warm seasons. It's about 15ish minutes by foot from campus and it's chock-full of little locally owned restaurants and knick knack shops. What I also like about it is the fact that during the warm season, there is an open farmers market.

Creighton is by far the best fit for me and any other prospective students looking for a high quality education respected by many. The small class size enables students to get to know their professors and have that personal relationship with them. The amount of respect communities, in Nebraska and across the nation, give to Creighton students is outstanding because they know that only the motivated optimistic students of America go to Creighton University.
Tips for prospective students
Prospective students need to know that Creighton holds a high standard to all of their students. If you want to have a high quality education where students strive to get involved, be the best, show school spirit at Basketball and Soccer games, and study hard then Creighton is the school for you. Come take a visit because even though Creighton looks great in stats and on paper, it looks even better walking down the main street watching the leaves turn colors in the Autumn sun, seeing all the lights lit up around Christmas time, or that first snowfall where it looks like a Winter Wonderland.
Academic Rigor
Creighton is a school where its never to early to study hard and be challenged by the rigorous courses. Of course as the years go by and you get further into your degree the more work must be shown to have success at Creighton. The teachers are always available to talk and they want to make you be the best you can. Compared to many other schools I believe that Creighton gives you a better general education so the success rate is higher in specialty classes therefore the job opportunities and internships are higher because of the high academic rigor started when a freshmen.
Dorm Life
As like any dorm system at any university you will be paired at random with a roommate. I was paired with another Cross Country kid and it goes great. We are on the same schedule and we get to hang out a lot. Other non-athletic dorm rooms would have a random partner and you get to meet them very quickly. The dorms plan activities for everyone so you get to know your floor more. There are neutral zones where many people hang out and do homework, play fuse ball, or mingle with the other floors. The halls are nice and the rooms are not bad small but they bigger with seniority. Overall it is pretty good its mainly what you make of it.
Food and Dining
There are two main dining halls and depending on what dorm you are in you have three meals close to where you live. Once you get bored of the meals in one hall there is always another and different choices to choose from. There are many options for vegetarians and normal eaters and it changes every day.
What to do for fun
Attending athletic events is a great way to stay in loop at Creighton. Having at least 3, sometimes more, Missouri Valley Conference Championship teams at Creighton its always fun seeing Creighton dominate other teams. There are concerts either on campus or close to campus and there are also attractions such as the Omaha Zoo, The Art Museum, and downtown. Downtown is called Old Market and there are tons of restaurants and shops to choose from for a night full of fun.
Bang for the buck
The school is very expensive but every penny of that is paying for an education that can't be attained anywhere else. You get into all sporting events free and you even get dicounts through the school on books, apple gear, and other activites like concerts, FREE!! If you are interested in studying abroad as well your scholarships can transfer over to the school you will be studying to abroad.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
All the freshmen have Welcome Week where there are dances and social events to get to know people. There is the notorious Foam Party every year where they have a foam machine that fills a patio with foam and you and your friends have to try and stick together.
Great for these types of students
This school is great for smart, self motivated, humble kids who want to go further than the normal college education but have the full college experience as well.
Clubs and Activities
There are tons of clubs and activities to join at the club fair in the fall and if you miss that, joining is a click away when the weekly newsletter is sent. Every type of person has an activity they can be in and that includes Intramural Sport. Many IM sports are played and tons of kids have free time to play.
Greek Life
There are many Fraternities and Sororities all of which freshman can join in the Spring of their first year during rush week. Many activities like bowling pizza and community service are all qualities of most of the Greek life at Creighton.
Campus Safety
Public Safety is very fast and there are call boxes all around campus. They are one phone call away. Campus is small enough and surrounded facilities that safety is important but crime rate is very low to none.

Creighton is a first rate university. The campus is very nice and accessible. The faculty and staff are all friendly and helpful.
Tips for prospective students
Be prepared to work hard. It is important to get into a routine and spend a little time working on each task daily. It can get really stressful putting things off to the last minute and often the quality of work suffers as well. The faculty is there to help you in every way they can so take advantage of their willingness to be available.
Academic Rigor
Creighton will test you in many ways. They have a top notch curriculum and the course material is always cutting edge and challenging. Your peers will all be intelligent and competent students which fosters a competitive and collaborative learning environment.
Dorm Life
I live off campus.
Food and Dining
The food is great and many options are available. The campus is located near the north downtown development which is all brand new. There are many dining options within walking distance.
What to do for fun
There's a lot to do in Omaha. The campus is located near the brand new baseball field and within walking distance to the Quest Center which offers big name music acts at a reasonable price. The old market is a really neat area with casual and fine dining and many unique shopping opportunities.

Creighton is not like any other college. All us students are a diverse group of individuals, coming from a wide variety of backgrounds. We are accepting of anyone and everyone, and we will change the world.
Tips for prospective students
You will really find out who you are by attending Creighton. Yes we are in Nebraska, but it is nothing like you may think it is. I'm from out of state, and I love it here.
Academic Rigor
Like I said before, Creighton is different. When it comes to academics, you are here to succeed in whatever it may be that you are wanting to accomplish. You will graduate in four-years, hands down. It is tough, but even more fun than other colleges or universities.
Dorm Life
Dorm is life is dorm life; enough said.
Food and Dining
It's getting better
Bang for the buck
Tuition is high, but so is the education level. When over hearing other students from, let's say UNO, their curriculum is ten-times easier than it is here at Creighton.
