Go to every class and be willing to talk and ask questions because teachers love engaged students and will want to help you. Keep on track with assignments because you can fall behind. Ask your teachers, classmates, and tutors for help. Don't assume that just because Delta is a Community College it is very easy. Yes, there are some easy classes but I had some classes that were incredibly challenging. There are a lot of interesting classes and the school tries to keep prices affordable.

Don't take more than 16 credit hours a semester!! I did that and it totally wrecked me, plus dropping them later on totally destroys your GPA!

One tip that many students don't get is to make sure to check online for textbooks at a cheaper price because in the bookstore they are full retail value and in most cases there is a cheaper option online. Another tip would be to just always park in the overflow lots. There are almost always no parking spots close to campus.

If you are planning to eventually transfer out to a 4-year university, it is helpful to closely articulate with your college of choice. While Delta has an excellent articulation program, the counseling center will format your schedule to suit Delta, not the college of choice. For example, I am pursuing pharmacy. I never went to counseling after the first semester, because they thought more than one science a semester was too rigorous, when in fact it was required if I wished to complete my pre-pharmacy program within the 3 years I was told it would last. HOWEVER...if you are attending Delta undecided, the counseling office is a valuable resource.
