Tuition, Cost & Aid

Affordability and Cost

Average Net Price Average net price for full-time, first-time degree/certificate-seeking undergraduates paying the in-state or in-district tuition rate who were awarded grant or scholarship aid from federal, state or local governments, or the institution. Other sources of grant aid are excluded. Aid awarded anytime during the full aid year is included.

Average net price is generated by subtracting the average amount of federal, state or local government, or institutional grant and scholarship aid from the total cost of attendance. Total cost of attendance is the sum of published tuition and required fees (lower of in-district or in-state), books and supplies and the weighted average room and board and other expenses.

Out-of-State Tuition Out-of-state tuition is the tuition charged by institutions to those students who do not meet the state's or institution's residency requirements. Additional Costs
Room and Board The weighted average for room and board and other expenses is generated as follows:
  • (amount for on-campus room, board and other expenses * # of students living on-campus.
  • + amount for off-campus (with family) room, board and other expenses * # of students living off-campus with family
  • + amount for off-campus (not with family) room, board and other expenses * # of students living off-campus not with family)
divided by the total # of students. Students whose living arrangements are unknown are excluded from the calculation. For some institutions the # of students by living arrangement will be known, but dollar amounts will not be known. In this case the # of students with no corresponding dollar amount will be excluded from the denominator.

What Students Are Saying

As I mentioned previously, it is a prestigious school and it definitely will leave a dent in your wallet. The school offers plenty of jobs for students, activities, internships and more. Also, unlike larger colleges, the majority of classes will consist of about 30 students and teachers will learn your name quickly. Which is nice to have because they get to know you personally rather than just be a name on their attendance sheet. So it may be more expensive than some public or other private schools but you will end up paying for it in the end.
Courtney from New Kensington, PA
The experience is definitely worth it, for the great education and the life lessons learned through everything going on, on and off campus.
Curtis from Hemlock, NY
Yes.
Erica from Powell, OH
a bit pricey since it is a private university, but they offer lots of scholarships for academics.
Christine from Pittsburgh, PA
Duquesne is expensive. However, by going here you will learn a lot from professors, other students, and life in general that is invaluable. You will be with students from all over the world and have opportunities to study abroad in Ireland and Italy if you wish. Plus, the financial aid office is willing to help out as much as possible to ensure that all costs will be covered. This university really wants to help you to succeed.
Addison from Pittsburgh, PA
Although Duquesne is a bit pricey, it is beyond worth the expense. The experience and knowledge that you gain at this school will far outweigh the price that you pay for tuition. Besides, the money you are putting into this school is going towards the amazing educators and facilities on campus that enable you to reach your goals and graduate with a prestigious degree.
Joshua from Hammondsport, NY
It is a very expensive private school but it is worth the money. The equipment they provide you with in the classroom and all the amenities balance out. Free laundry!!
