Am learning a lot
East Los Angeles College has been a great school for me. I was going to Cerritos after high school but it was so packed, so I did not want to wait another semester, so I decided to register at Elac. Although there are no waiting lists at ELAC the chance of you getting into a class is high. I got into all the classes I wanted to, although they were full. I have learned a lot in these classes.
Am enjoying being here
I have enjoyed my time at ELAC. I have attended both the Southgate and Main campus. I reall like the Southgate campus because it is smaller and less people. I like my classes with few people.
Bang for the buck
Great school!

this school is one of the best according to my experience. this school provides a good education, a safe atmosphere, a relaxing place to study at being that your surrounded by nature trees all around. this school has nice, and friendly staff members perhaps like other schools every now and then a few rude ones but most are willing to help when needed, when questions are asked they try to help one.
Tips for prospective students
some tips of advise always listen to your teachers as they actually do want whats best for you. most teachers at other colleges will just hand you information but at east los angeles college teachers actually do take an interest in teaching you. another tip is always stay on task, and take advantage of the programs and different services the school provides for you as in counseling, workshops, and so on.
Academic Rigor
academic rigor i'm unsure of what the expectations are. i am unsure if there is a certain gpa one must keep to keep being enrolled, but one thing for sure is that if you want to keep getting assistance of financial aid make sure to keep those grades up! one must behave, and respect the teachers that's one thing the school does state.
Dorm Life
i'm unsure of the dorm life. as there are no dorms on this campus nor the other two campuses this school has. but there are apartments around the area by the school that all one has to do is cross the street to get to the school. apartments around are some what expensive, but then again monterrey park is a good and safe community.
Food and Dining
food and dining there are plenty of places around to eat. they have a variety of food one can select from chinese, hawaiian, carrows, subway, the hat, taco bell, pollo loco, carls jr, baskin robbins, and a couple few places more. but not just that there is also grocery stores around as the atlantic shopping center is right across the street.
What to do for fun
at this school there is plenty to do it all depends on what one likes to do. if you're the type of person that enjoys watching games, and so forth then you can go watch the football, vollyball, or other sports; if you like to shop for fun then you can go shopping at the atlantic square as they have fashion stores there; if you like exploring new places then you will enjoy this small waterfall thats close to the school. if you like to just read for fun this school has a wide enough library that has several books to read from, the library also provides a wi-fi service all around the school so if you like browsing the internet for fun you can do it anywhere on campus!
Clubs and Activities
this school provides several clubs that students can join. there is the asu club where not only does it provide club services, but they also do lunches on campus just recently they had a sort of bbq in front of the technology building selling hot dogs and all sorts of things. this school has other clubs like bible club and all sorts of other clubs that all have their own activities for one to enjoy.
Campus Safety
campus safety is something most people shouldn't have to worry about. as there are security going around the school patrolling making sure nothing happens and ensure the safety of the students. we even have staff members taking care of the school making sure this is a safe school.

east los angeles college is a wonderful college in which has the sufficient resources for a student to feel accommodated in. the college has great teachers who are willing to do everything in their power in order for students to get a good grasp of information. definitely, the campus has a good atmosphere, i love it!
Tips for prospective students
for those students who want to make it all the way to the top in their career, this is the right college to prepare you before going to the university level. this is not high school anymore, so keep on top of all work and do not procrastinate. use the resources like the tutoring centers and writing labs in order to help you get that a for the home works and presentations.
Academic Rigor
the students are all very willing in the campus. they try hard and create a competitive environment which is good because it pushes other students to also push their limits.
Dorm Life
unfortunately, there are no dorms in the campus but there are people who rent apartments near school and bring roommates to help pay rent.
Food and Dining
there is a man who has a small little stand inside the campus and he sells the best pizza and churros i've ever tasted. there is also a small car that sells great mexican food and sandwiches. we also have the student stores which have snacks and other delicious drinks.
What to do for fun
the college offers many activities to do for fun. if you are into sports the cross country and track team are both very active and pretty good in rating in the finals. also, there are those programs for those of you who enjoy doing math and science such as mesa. lastly, the college stands up for its beliefs so you can also protest along with many other students about the budget cuts and financial aid cuts.

As a first time college student at ELAC I found out first hand how hard it is to add classes. Although it is hard the teachers there are great and they have many programs to help you transfer in 2 years.
Am enjoying being here
Although I would have rather been at a University like I had initially planned I like the schools atmosphere. They welcome you into the school and it is easy to get around. Not to mention all the money I'm saving.
Bang for the buck
You save a lot of money because the government pays for your classes and with your FASFA all you need to buy are your books. Put the money aside for when you transfer is the best advice I can give.
Tips for prospective students
Get good grades and transfer quick.
Great for these types of students
Great for those who don't know where to go from high school.

The professors here are very friendly and will help you out if you ask them. All the professors I have had so far care about your education if you show that that you are determined to learn.
Am enjoying being here
The school has such a great environment and the students here are very amiable.
Bang for the buck
Tuition is pretty cheap. I don't pay for my tuition because our school has a fee waver. Most of the students that I know have applied for the fee waver and have qualified.
Tips for prospective students
Come ready to learn and you will learn a lot. Don't be scared to ask for help because pretty much everyone will be happy to help you out.
Great for these types of students
This school is good for students that will like to transfer.

This school's academic teaching can varie. It ultimately depends if you land on the right professors. Maybe because it is a community college... but some professors leave early, or just kind of glide through teaching class. I've attended ELAC for 3 years now so I've seen all sorts of professors. The really good teachers actually teach really well and like an university level.
Am enjoying being here
Diffinitely feels great to be at ELAC, considering it being very cozy like campus feeling. The students here have lots of club spirit and are constantly participating in events. The services here like financial aid, admissions, and all other academic services are very helpful and makes transitioning to college a breeze.
Bang for the buck
This place is very considerably cheap compared to ANY other community college. The best part is that if you're enrolled in ELAC, you are also enrolled in other 8 community colleges within the Los Angeles District. This gives you priority for registering for classes within the district. They even have a fee waiver for those who can't pay for college.
Tips for prospective students
Remember to always take an orientation and see a counselor before adding any classes. Also roam around and explore the different services and clubs out there at ELAC, as alot of them want to help you succeed in college and make you feel welcomed.
Great for these types of students
This college is great for those who love the high school feeling campuses and love extracurricular activities. Also great for transfering and those who kind of want to glide through with their general education classes.

The school is constantly changing, adding new resources each day, but more importantly it listens to the students in terms of change. The teachers all want students to succeed and are willing to go the distance with each of them. With emerging fields in different categories, such as play-writing, directing, journalism, nursing, and many more, this school has much to offer in education.
Am enjoying being here
Getting to know the teachers and students at ELAC is definitely helpful to an enjoyable experience, especially considering how nice and pleasent the majority of the campus is. There's a lot to do, a lot of clubs to join, and a lot of people to meet, plus plenty of events are happening each day if you really look around.
Bang for the buck
ELAC is a small school, but there are many classes to attend and a lot of extracurricular activities. Simply apply for a fee waiver, but even the normal price is nothing compared to what you can experience at such a school. Definitely bang for the buck.
Tips for prospective students
Check out what majors are held here and consider going for that so you can get some experience. Stop by the transfer office and look at the different universities and such you'd be interested in going to. Over at Elac, everyone wants you to get the highest education you can, so transferring should be your first step.
Great for these types of students
Students who want good experience, a cheap but satisfying education, and an entry way into a bigger style of learning. Also, check out the theater section while you're there, new fields are emerging each semester, most better than the last and covering all fields.

Am learning a lot
I believe that the outcome of a student has a lot to do with the quality of teaching from the professor. At ELAC, I have had great teachers with a lot of on hands work. Not only are the lectures very interesting, but they are also very relative to many of our lives. I have had professors who i can trust and rely on in case of an emergency. There are a lot of dialogues in and outside the class between professors and students as well which makes learning more personal and interactive.
Am enjoying being here
I chose to go to ELAC, because I was confused when i came out of high school. I was not quite sure if I could handle a four year college with a child. Thus, I chose a community college. My experience here has been mesmerizing. I have a lot of support from proffessors and counselors who have guided me in the right direction. There are so many opportunities, from internships to scholarships.
Bang for the buck
Although, fees have gone up the quality of the education is amazing. Many of the professors are young and energetic, while others have a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience to share with the students, making well-rounded people out of all the students.
Tips for prospective students
Walk in to the classroom with optimism and an open mind. Some of the professors who give mean faces or seem tough, do it out of the desire to teach all of us a valuable lesson: persistence and discipline. Community college professors are very supportive and will guide and train us all for four year universities.
Great for these types of students
Community College is great for all of those who are struggling with money or simply do not know where they stand. Great for those in dilemmas and for those who need a pick up in course work.
