Overall, Eastern Michigan University is a good school to attend, although there are crimes that do take place on campus that can make walking to your car at night a little worrisome. There is a program called SEEUS that people can call to have someone come out and walk with them to their car, which helps relieves some of that fear. It is a great program to take advantage of, especially for the female students attending late night classes. Eastern Michigan University also as a fantastic range of study abroad programs to choose from. I will be attending a European Tour with EMU faculty next fall where we will travel to nine different countries in Europe and learn about the history of each city we visit. In the College of Technology, where I attend classes for my major, the class sizes are smaller, allowing more personalized, one-on-one teaching times. This also makes it easier to get to know classmates. Group work is a huge part of our field, so this is great practice before entering the workforce. In the Simulation, Animation, and Gaming major, however, it is difficult to get the director or dean to respond to and fix any issues or problems we have. Many times, our emails go unanswered and our concerns fall on deaf ears. On the bright side, the professors for the SAG program are passionate about our field and love teaching their students. They are also accessible outside of the classroom through office hours and/or email.
