For fun, I have chosen to become involved in several activities in my two years at FAU. From a skateboarding club, to a car club, mechanics club, several recreational sports teams and just socializing with other students. Also with class involvement, I have attended social events, plays and musicals in the local area. FAU has plenty to offer.

FAU sometimes hosts little music concerts, performed by current FAU students. Also, occasionally comedians will come by to perform comedy shows.

Boca Raton is a nice area that sits on the beach and is home to one of the best malls in South Florida. You can find yourself shopping in Boca Raton Town Center Mall, surfing for free in Deerfield on a Saturday morning, and even at Mizner Park to see concert. The school is surrounded by a safe area and is only a short drive from many well-known places in Florida. If you find yourself needing thrill, you can drive up to Orlando for the weekend to go to Islands of Adventure. If you want some relaxation just drive south to the Keys and relax in Margaritaville. If something you want isn't in Boca Raton then it will be in the surrounding cities. Overall, Boca Raton tends towards the students whom are 21 but it isn't a challenge to find fun else where.

The beach! FAU is only about 3 miles away from the sand! There are good amount of college bars in town. Night life is never lacking with FAU's proximity to hot spots like Fort Lauderdale and Miami.

There are so many clubs that you literary cannot decide what to do. Even if you don't want to be in a club or student organization, just go outside. There are wide pastures and lawns all over the place with people just playing soccer or football, studying, hanging out with their friends and enjoying a nice meal. Even the dorm building have activities you can do. Some have a recreation room with a pool table or a student lounge with a TV. Most have computer rooms where you can surf the Web.

In terms of fun-filled activities for students, there are endless possibilities from contests between dorms to comedy shows and concerts, there is a fun activity that will suit everyone's interests. Homecoming week is one of the best weeks you will ever have during the semester and includes at least one activity on each day for 8 days including a concert, comedy show, the homecoming parade, and the homecoming football game.

The Burrow student union is pretty nice with pool tables, couches and study areas. There are tennis courts and a pool. There is also a tennis complex in the Abacoa community. The Abacoa Town Center is across the street and the Donald Ross Village and Abacoa Plaza are within walking distance and have a Starbucks, a Publix, a CVS, a Walgreens and more restaurants and cafes. Remember this is a high end suburb and the restaurants and cafes are quite expensive.
