Am learning a lot
When you come here, you must be alert and ready to learn. This school is perfect for you, if you like one and one interaction. The classes wont pass 50 students. Professors are always available, the student center will always be watching your grades. They are there to help with any type of homework or classwork. I am learning things for my major and more.
Am enjoying being here
I live on campus in Roberts Hall. I love it, as a member the Fifth floor family it is great! everyone is so helpful and willing to have fun. Also i go to the gym whenever i want and joined a intro to fencing Class. so i don't only get to study hard but also relax and have fun. there is always something to do!
Bang for the buck
This school is very expensive but with the help of FAFSA and allying for scholarships, all i have to do it pay a Panther Payment Plan. It;s worth the money! And Work-study also helps with you're in financial need.
Tips for prospective students
Make sure you apply for scholarships and save money, don't forget to apply early (you get extra money for it!). If you attend FIT take advantage of all clubs and be active in the community don't stay in your dorm.
Great for these types of students
Its great for anyone!!!! Tech schools might be known as nerdy schools but it isn't! its welcoming to all types of people from all over the world!

Am learning a lot
Whether you want to or not, you will learn a lot. So far I have only spent one semester at Florida Institute of Technology and my professors are very serious about teaching their students. They do what they can to help you succeed in the class, and as long as you put in some effort to look for help, you will receive it either from a classmate, the professor, or the Academic Support Center. for the most part, my classes are very enjoyable.

Campus life is very active, you just have to get out of your room and see the different activities that are being hosted by the different organizations on campus. Joining an organization is also a must so you can stay active on campus and out of your room.
Bang for the buck
The tuition is very expensive, but most of their grants and scholarships pay for most of it. You definitely get what you pay for from your classes, but they could improve on their library.
Tips for prospective students
If your looking for a peaceful, small, urban college, this is the place for you. There is a lot of activity because FIT is located in a city, but it can also be very relaxing because the beach and the harbor is only 15 minutes away.
Great for these types of students
Students who are ambitious about their education and are very willing learn and work hard for their degree, this is the place for you.

Am learning a lot
I came into this school pretty unprepared. I had planned on being an actress so switching to Chemical Engineering when I got to college was not something I had prepared for. However with the help of a great support system, mostly wonderful teachers, and my research teams assistance I have managed to get a 3.13 gpa my first year. I now work with instruments and chemicals that I hadn't even heard of before coming to my school.
Am enjoying being here
This school is my second home. From the first night on campus I made great friends who offered to help me study for my placement exams. Within my first year I got the lead int he musical The Drowsy Chaperone and the role of Don Pedro in Much Ado Ado About Nothing. I have taken part in the zombie vs. human war both semesters and had the fun of both shooting my fellow sci fi loving peers with nerf guns and tagging them to turn them into a zombie as well. This game is one of my favorites because it invlolves everyone getting outside, meeting new people, and using their brains to create strategies. The professors are very caring and hard working. My chemical engineering professor gives us as much time as we need and will work late any day to help out his students. The professor I volunteer for is a genius and he pushes us to reach our full potential and make the right choices. My sorority sisters are like a family. And you can find me almost every weekend doing community service with my brothers from Alpha Phi Omega. This place is so great that any one who leaves tries to find their way back and the ones who are still around hate to be away even for summer break.
Bang for the buck
This is on a per student basis. The school is expensive, yes, not one is doubting that. However, if you speak to almost any student or alumni they will inform you about how enriching the experience is. Students at my school are family that continues on forever, and the lessons you learn stay with you always. If the choice is between a cheap school where you are miserable or Florida Tech then I hope the choice is obvious. Now then it also depends on your major. My career choice makes eighty grand as a starting salary and I have quite a few scholarships not to mention the high demand for chemical engineers, so as long as I stick with it I will be able to pay off any money I owe fairly quickly. If you are going into a field that does not pay well and is pretty overcrowded then you may not want to choose FIT.
Tips for prospective students
Visit the schools you are considering. See what the students are like, Talk with the teachers in person or through email. Look up the clubs the school offers, and check out reviews. You need to find a place with good credentials, inspiring professors, a fun atmosphere and you have to make sure you'll fit in. If FIT is the place for you then don't hesitate. When you do choose a school and are in college find friends they're out there and it'll make the whole experience a million times better if you get to share it with true friends. Oh and always ask upperclassmen for advice. Most of us won't try to trick you because we remember what it was like in your shoes so we'll warn you which teachers to avoid, which places on campus are best to eat at on which days, etc. Make an upperclassmen buddy they will be your best, most knowledgeable friend.
Great for these types of students
This school is great if you enjoy playing role playing games, World of Warcraft, League of Legends, Dungeons and Dragons or Halo and such games as these.
Also you'll fit in if you watch and like Dr. Who, Big Bang Theory, How I met your mother, Star Trek, Star Wars, Family Guy, Futurama, and such shows as these.
If your favorite board games are Scrabble, Boggle, or Munchkin you'll also fit right in.
This school is for people who are able to balance a challenging work schedule with fun time with your friends.
If you are not into the aforementioned items that does not mean that you won't fit in.
Even if you don't think that playing Quidditch is a fun Saturday afternoon or that all you really need is to play scrabble while watching Big Bang Theory with your physics buddies to make a day great, you can still fit in.
This school has surfers, and other sports types, we have cheerleaders, we have nerds, and jocks, and all other kinds of people who are very different yet somehow get along really well.

The professors here have a passion for their subjects and they are committed to helping students. They exploit the classes(in a great way) to make the most out of the students. Teachers are available 24/7 either personally or via email, and they will help you in anyway possible. (could be class related or something personal) Teachers here become your friends!
Am enjoying being here
I love living on campus! It's a small school, so you quickly make friends! You know everyone and everyone knows you! Your lonely days are over, because there's always someone next door!
Bang for the buck
FIT is a private school, so it will hurt your parent's pockets a bit, but they are really understanding and helpful when it comes to financial needs. They offer lots of work study, scholarship, and grants to make it easier for your parents to pay tuition.
Tips for prospective students
Make friends with anyone, but mostly with professors and employees, because they will help you through out your years at the school. Also, if you can take any basic courses like calculus, chemistry, or english writing at a college before actually starting at FIT it will come at a great advantage! Credits transfer, you save time, and money!
Great for these types of students
This school is excellent for science, engineering, psychology, business and aviation students! It is rated as one of the best schools in the country!

In three sentences
Florida Tech is a great campus for those who are interested int he sciences and want a small well rounded school. Don't let the idea of it being a tech school fool you, we have sports and a Greek life system that brings you excitement when your not in the lab! 5 stars and 2 thumbs up! Join the panther family.
Tips for prospective students
Get involved early! I am apart of Greek life on campus and it was the smartest decision i made. It gets you involved fast and meeting lots of new people. This is important for us ladies who are outnumbered at this school, you get the needed girl time. Also get to know your academic adviser, they will save your life someday.
Academic Rigor
I recently switched majors (psychology to pre-med) so I can't say to much. From what I heard I must say the classes are tough but rewording. Being a tech school everyone here puts school first, the libraries are busy and books are flying. If you work hard and do your best you will learn a lot and do well.
Dorm Life
I didn't live in a dorm so again can't say much BUT straying with friends in there dorms was an experience. Whole dorm floors would get together and go out to dinner or play games, a real community was built for these people. Dorm life seems great if you get active and get involved!
Food and Dining
We have the BEST dinning hall. All you can get yummy food. I love getting a grilled cheese, in fact I get it so much the cook knows me now and has it cooking before I can even ask! The SUB has a great salad bar and fruit bar, for us who are being healthy. The RAT or the mini cafe by the dorms is also very good, they have pizza and the best cookies. There are a lot of restaurants near the school you can drive to as well. Oh and did I mention the RAT delivers on campus!
What to do for fun
The more people you know the more fun you will have. There is something for everyone from LAN parties to FRAT parties, there is a lot to keep you busy. Movies on the green every month and stargazing in the astronomy tower at night. As long as you have some friends with you just chilling in the dorms or apartments can be a blast. See a school play held by our college players or be in the play! See our new football team beat the big bad boy schools. Cheer on the chess players and play piano in our student lounge. So much to do I still haven't done everything.
Bang for the buck
Expensive, sorry not gonna lie but I think it is worth every penny. Now remember I didn't live on campus so the cost was lower for me and I didn't experience dorm life. But the tuition costs are worth it because of the great teachers and staff that work at the university. If I have a question or problem it gets dealt with. I have learned alot being there just a year, that is priceless.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
Come and experience it for yourselves. Chalk is always fun though.
Great for these types of students
-Nerds. (Sorry had to say it)
-Anyone who is dedicated to their studies
-If you like International People and want to meet lots of people from around the world COME HERE. (My college bestie is from China)
-If you want a Greek Life that doesn't suck or is scary
-Sports Scholarships? Come here!
-Want a small school, individual attention. Come here!
Everyone is welcomed
Clubs and Activities
Future Business leaders to every nationalities individual club, we have it all. Sports teams including and not limited to water polo and now football. Anime/Manga Club. Student Government. Campus Activites Committee Greek Life. ROTC. Don't have a club then make one. The process is really easy, we recently started a environmental school club helping to plant native plants and fruit trees on campus. You want it you can make it!
Greek Life
I can not say enough good things about the Greek Life here. No hazing, I recently went through the recruitment and initiation process and it was a life changing experience. I will not tell you my letters but I recommend everyone to try out Greek Life.
Campus Safety
Need a ride, security is right there. Want an escort at night, call security. They are very nice people and really care about the students. Alert text messages and emails go around if there is an issue on campus. Small school so not a lot of safety issues.

Will learn a lot
Florida Tech is absolutely amazing in creating an environment where you learn the way it's most effective for you. Your professors will be top-notch, but also they make a point to provide more than enough research and internship opportunities on and near campus.
Will enjoy being here
FIT has everything. If you want to do research or score an internship in the area, you can get there easily. But on the other side, it's total FUN when you want it to be! The beach is biking distance away, probably about a 10 minute drive. The campus is absolutely gorgeous with palm trees, open green areas, lots of new buildings, and the botanical gardens with walking paths, and you'll never get tired of it! There's even a new swimming pool under construction :). It's pretty much an hour away from the major cities in any direction, including just over an hour away from Orlando for sports or Disney fans!
Bang for the buck
Let's be real here - Florida Tech is expensive for some, but there's more behind that you should know... the key here is Florida Tech tries to make it affordable for everyone with the scholarships and aid they give out. They offer so much to students, so there's going to be a price, but you should still apply and weigh all your options once you receive scholarship/financial aid packages from everywhere you apply.
Tips for prospective students
They have rolling admission, but if you get everything in by early January then you get priority consideration for scholarships (check fit.edu/e-mail the admissions department or your admissions counselor for the dates for the year you're applying). You'll also know the decision in some cases in just a few weeks! Same goes for the FAFSA, file early and you'll get priority and also in the past there have been early filer grants where if you file your FAFSA before a certain date you'll get another 1,000 for that year (not this year so they may not be doing it again). ***If you visit and attend a campus tour, half-day, or full-day event, on campus then you get another $1,000 per year automatically if you attend! It's worth the visit - you can get into Florida early and go to Disney, see a game, explore Melbourne or the state, go to the beach, and get some more money for tuition!
Great for these types of students
Honestly, you should know what you want to go into well before you attend here. If you're one of those kids of people, this school will fit you like a glove. If you know where you want to go, the programs FIT has to offer and your counselors will get you there. It really does have everything - the academics, research opportunities, professional internship opportunities, the beach, fun, in a great location, everything!

Be prepared to work your butt off the first day you are here. It may not seem too hard to get admitted but they weed you out your first year if you are not prepared or committed to the program.
Am enjoying being here
This was the best decision of my life. I was looking towards another school close by as a dream school and am so glad I did not go there.
Bang for the buck
It is expensive, but they have ways of helping you out! Don't get turned off just by the raw tuition rate alone...YOU WILL NOT PAY THAT!
Tips for prospective students
Be prepared to work and get engaged in academic after school activities like professional organizations and chapters.
Great for these types of students
Hard working; researchers; smart but fun

The Graduate Student Assistants that are scheduled between your professors' lectures really help to solidify each new concept you learn. I used to have no confidence in my math abilities. Now, I have nothing but 90s and higher on my homework and quizzes.
Am enjoying being here
The campus is manageable and beautiful, as expected. The staff are supportive and reiterate their desire to see each student succeed. It truly is, as the motto states, High tech, with a human touch.
Bang for the buck
Every dollar is worth it. Manage your time and money wisely and you will be rewarded in the long run.
Tips for prospective students
Pick classes that pertain to your major and don't overload on electives. Also, don't be shy about getting extra help from a professor or a student assistant. Everyone is here to help.
Great for these types of students
If you go to school to establish the groundwork for a successful and stable future, then FIT is for you. If you're focused, persistent, and intellectually inquisitive then you will love this university.

Im majoring in Marine Biology and Ecology. I love how the labs are hands on. Almost every biology lab has one or more research projects that you work on for the semester. It teaches you how to design, conduct, and present research. This skills are essential for any scientists and Florida Tech does a great job in preparing you.
Am enjoying being here
The school is great. Its super easy to walk around and there is even an app you can download to you phone that has a map and list of buildings (very helpful if your new). All the professors are very helpful and its easy to talk directly with them if you need to. The area of Melbourne is quiet, but the downtown area is nice, and there is always the beach! Plus Orlando is just an hour away.
Bang for the buck
It is very expensive to go here, but if there is always scholarships and financial aid. Florida Tech hands out a lot of money to good students.
Tips for prospective students
Get the meal plan with the most flex cash!! You will thank me later. Also live in Columbia Village Freshman year. Roberts is community style, and while its cool for a little while..... its definitely worth it in the long run to have your own room
Great for these types of students
Florida Tech is great for hard workers who really want to focus on their degree and get the most out of there education. There are parties, but it is not a party school.

When I visited the University it was great! I got to meet some of my professors that I would have and met with a lot of the admissions office. Everyone was friendly and helpful and really took the time to answer questions.
Will enjoy being here
I loved the campus. The rooms were big and spaceous unlike most college dorms. They had an amazing eating place as well. All the students I ran into seem to really enjoy the college because they were all wearing something with FIT on it.
Bang for the buck
The college is really pricey and that's the reason I can't attend. However I would say depending on what you're going to college for it's great.
