Now co-educational, Georgian Court University was founded as a women’s college by Sisters of Mercy and remains affiliated and sponsored by the same group today. GCU is a private institution based in Lakewood Township, NJ. It is a small university offering a liberal arts curriculum in the Roman Catholic tradition. A majority of students commute to the campus which has been added to the National Register of Historic Places.
