Goldsmiths has its own bar on campus exclusively for students. This bar holds a club every Wednesday night that always has a great turn out. If you want to go off campus for a bit of fun, this school is a 5 minute train or 15 minute bus ride from the center of London, where there is never a shortage of things to do.
Food and Dining
The main dining area on campus is called the refectory and it serves a wide selection of gourmet meals everyday. the refectory caters to everyone from vegetarians, to people looking to get a good traditional Indian meal. It also serves crowd pleasers like burgers and fries or macaroni and cheese daily. The campus is also equipped with a vegan cafe in their students Union, a regular cafe serving sandwiches and muffins and the like, and a Costa coffee stand. In addition, the campus is surrounded by small family owned cafes and restaurants that are open from early morning to late night everyday.
Consider looking for off campus housing options if you plan on attending this school. If you want to stay on campus, apply early for housing, the waiting list for a room in the residence halls is very long and many people do not make it into halls for their first year at school. Also expect very crowded quarters, most dorm rooms consist of a small room with a desk, bed, and small bathroom. Kitchens are communal, usually shared with 8+ others.
The academic rigor here is challenging but also tolerable. The teachers give students all the resources and information they need in order to make the most out of their education. Also, the learning environment here is very good. In addition to having a large library, computer hall, and silent study areas, this school is in the heart of London where some of the most renowned libraries and learning resources in the world are located.
Tips for prospective students
There is a great student life at Goldsmiths University. Before classes start the school holds a Freshers Fair, in which all the student clubs and organizations come together to show what they have to offer to students. In addition to this, there are many social events in which to meet new people and make new friends, such as on campus parties and game nights. Get to school early so that you don't miss out on this great UK University tradition.
