Don't worry about the roommate assignments, the housing staff spend a lot of time working on matching you with the correct people as well as a lot of prayer. Play hard as well as work hard. Sports and games are wonderful and very fun to get involved in but don't get carried away and forget about the fact that you're at school.

Keep up with the homework assignments, don't slack off with doing them because, especially freshman year, most of the time all that information is crucial for the class, try to eat healthy as well as not waste up your meal points too quickly because it's easy to waste them all so fast as well as eat more junk food rather than healthy food.

From what I have seen, you'll either love Gordon, or you'll hate it. When choosing a college, size is an important thing to keep in mind. Gordon is rather small. This allows for a tight-knit community for some but a lot of headache and gossip for others - or a combination of both. Gordon is NOT the place for people seeking a lot of social life in college. There are no parties or Greek life, and the campus is a ghost town on weekends. I personally enjoyed this aspect. If you are considering Gordon, I recommend that you research the school in the news and educate yourself on what has happened there over the past year or so. I would then encourage you to make a well-thought-out decision for yourself. The administration's show of disdain for relationship equality has resulted in a large loss of funding and external programs as the surrounding communities do not wish to associate themselves with Gordon's policies. There is, unfortunately, a general culture of discrimination and judgment on this campus toward anything that doesn't uphold homogeneous Christian culture. I saw firsthand how Gordon discriminated against employment applicants on these bases (despite their fervent attempts at denying that they do this), and treated certain students unfairly and in some cases cruelly.

The food is not wonderful, but the opportunities that Gordon gives its students is something I did not think would be as important as it really is.

If you are looking to let loose during your time in college, then this school is definitely not for you, but if you are looking for college that doesn't have the partying atmosphere this Gordon College is perfect for you. Gordon College is a great place for people who are looking for small classes where your professors know you by name, and I say this wholeheartedly, except for some of the core classes, but if you go and talk to them they will definitely know you. This is a great college for people looking for a small campus where you learn to know almost everyone by the end of you sophomore year and it really feels like a family. This family air also comes from the fact that it is a Christian college and your spiritual life is a huge aspect of the experience. The professors care about how you are doing on a personal and spiritual level and will help you along the way with both.
