Nothing is prefect. The environment here is very friendly and fun, but you make your experience what you want. If you do not go out and make friends you will probably find it miserable and boring here. Go out and make the best of your time here. Also do not slack on school work. The first year is the hardest because you have to get into the grove of things, but do not give up. It is what you make it not matter where you go.

For future Heidelberg students, I would suggest you to try your best and always ask questions when needed. If your professor tells you his or her office hours, take advantage of that time to go get some one-on-one help. Professors are always there to help. Stay focused on your work and don't put homework off until the last minute. The faster you get it done the easier college will get.
