Join an intramural team. Study with a friend. Have a movie day with a group of friends. Go to JP's or LJ's (Lemonjello's). Rent a movie from the local library. Rollerblade/run/bike/walk to Kollen Park. Go thrift shopping (there's a great place called Ditto within walking distance). Walk down Main Street--there's always something going on. Go to the beach (it's beautiful even in the winter). Get a job and go to work. Go to a SAC (Student Activities Committee) event. Whether it be a movie night, a famous singer, or a SkyZone event, they're always tons of fun and super inexpensive. Go on a date. Bake cookies. Have a craft/game night. Go out to eat. There's a couple really good restaurants on Main Street--there's even a sushi place! Go work out. Go exploring. College is what you make of it. Either it can be super boring or you can make it super fun!

The Student Activities Committee (SAC) is always busy preparing some kind of film or other event to enhance student life. From SAC events to sporting events, student organizations, and the surrounding area, you almost have to try to be bored at Hope. While coursework can be substantial, there's always a little time to take advantage of these options. My personal favorite is probably the Outdoor Adventure Club (or OAC), which plans events such as hikes, bike rides, and skiing trips every few weeks. Near the beginning of the year I hit the road with them, riding some 13 miles south from Holland to a coffee shop in Saugatuck, and then back -- while my legs began to ache something awful near the end, the trip was really memorable and a great way to spend a Saturday.

Vanderprov, the Hope College student improv comedy team, has performances every month. They are hilarious. Hope has all kinds of clubs and intramural sports (often, the two combine, as clubs sometimes have their own intramural teams). A few blocks from Hope is a small donut shop (Goodtime Donuts). Every night, the owner makes donuts fresh (and the shop stays open). Midnight donut runs are popular, and it is not uncommon to walk into the donut shop at 2 am on a weekend and find it so full of college students that there are no open seats.

There are different things to do like the doughnut run, the different festivals and most of all the games for all sport lovers. Hope is in Division III sports wise. They have a really good Football and Basket ball team.

Downtown Holland is right next to the college, and it is adorable. There are so many cute shops to go into. The Holland Peanut Store is the BEST place on earth and makes amazing taffy. Lemonjello's coffee shop is great too. In the warmer months, the beach is right by the college and is absolutely gorgeous. There are a lot of clubs to join on campus as well. And there's a laser tag arena, bowling alley, and extreme trampoline place nearby.

Holland Michigan is honestly pretty boring. The beach is really great, but it only stays warm for about a month before it's too cold to go. The downtown can also be fun, but it's way to expensive for a college student. Other than that there is not much to do.

Hope sponsors many activities on the weekends and Grand Rapids is only 30 minutes away. The beach is very close for nice weather and there are parties to go to as well.

I'll just do a list! -Work out (we have a gym) -swim (we have a pool) -go sledding (during the winter of course) -long board (if you know how) -go to a concert (Hope has a series of concerts during the year..yes with famous people) -go see Nykerk (if you like pitch perfect, you will love this) -go see the Pull (sporty people) -basketball games, or just any sport event. -watch a movie with your buddies until really late, because no one will tell you to go to bed early. -go on a donut run (no running is actually done, and it's at midnight) -party (for all you party animals) go to a restaurant (Holland has a lot of those) -go to the lake (yes, Michigan...lakes...) -sail -go to the beach (lake=beach) this is a good idea in the summer and many more than I am too lazy to type in....
