If you take you education seriously I feel that it does not matter where you go to school, although a prestigious university doesn't hurt, it is what you make of it. Being that many of the professors teach at near by universities they know how to give a you challenge when needed. The classes are very informative and may of professors are dedicated to helping their students understand the material.

You get what you pay for. Some teachers are great and actually care about your success. A good way to get your Associate's and not break the bank.

HCC is a great starting point to get an education without the sky-high tuition costs of 4 year universities. The academic courses are interesting and challenging. There is a good blend of people so you will meet some interesting characters here too!

Of course when the cost tuition is low, you get what you pay for. After one year, I switched campuses and found that the quality of the education depends on which campus you go to. I graduated last summer with my associates, and am happy that I saved my parents money and can still move on to get my bachelor's.

i paid 167.00 for a used business book at the hcc barnes and noble bookstore. the book had been traded in at least 3 times. the book brand new is cheaper than what i paid for it used. everything is over priced at that bookstore. i brought a 200.00 computer for 475.00. they are crooks but because i got financial aid and needed my books and a computer on the first day of class so i had to charge the items to my financial aid. and i am doing distance learning.

Houston Community College is a great two year to start at! It's also very good for international students looking to start off in the U.S as well. Its the largest community college system in America, and most of the campuses are in locations where you may be able to catch a bus to them. Its affordable, and the teachers are willing to fully prepare you for the transition to a 4 year University.
