Very involved in social justice, nice and interesting people to interact with. Professors are easy to talk and meet with, willing to sit and talk at your convenience. Beautiful campus to walk around in, surrounding city as well.

Humboldt State University is a good school overall with diverse programs, open opportunities, and various resources. The school offers students opportunities throughout the year that are helpful to students, opportunities such as getting to meet teachers personally and having mentors to help students stay on the right path. Also the school is spirited and they have good food.

Engineering program is very flawed. Equipment and resources are out dated and sometimes unusable. The teachers are not very helpful and none of the classes are fair.

HSU is a great school, it may be isolated from the big cities, but it has so much beauty to offer and people just have to live here to realize that. HSU also has great teachers who are always willing to help students one on one when they need it. One thing that is hard to get use to is how nice faculty is and how they are willing to provide the best service ever.

If you are looking to get away from the big city and join a community of people driven to change how we run our world, then Humboldt State is the college for you. The small classroom sizes help students engage with professors one-on-one for expert help in the their field of study. The environment in the Humboldt area is truly astonishing with the redwood forest in the backyard of the University.

HSU is a place of supreme tranquility, seemingly left untouched by the majority of people due to vast amounts of wilderness that the campus inhabits. A place where the land meets the water and the water combines with the land to create a stunning contrast between the two. The home of HSU is built in a place so peaceful, so wild, that at times it doesn't feel like a campus: it feels like home. The first word that comes to mind when looking upon the giant Redwood trees: spectacular. Everything seems to shrink before them; they make you feel so small as you look between trunks that are greater than twice your size. Yet as you head out of these giants you find yourself in a precarious place as you stare transfixed by the power and beauty of the ocean. People find themselves wondering if such a gorgeous and awe-inspiring place can truly be home to a University where its environment is just as amazing as the people that live there. Each time I step on the campus I am greeted with smiling faces and words of encouragement and each one has the same opinion: the people that live here are the most accepting they have experienced.
