    When going to college, not just Illinois State, you should join organizations and clubs. Illinois State offers a large array of organizations to join, and you can see them all each semester at the ISU Fair. I also strongly encourage you to try hard and make friends on your living floor, I have life long friends now that I met my freshman year in my dorm.

    Be open to new areas, being in the southern part of Illinois is very different if you're from Chicago or another big city. Find a nice group of friends and explore. Take classes and deadlines very seriously.
