Apply for student aid early. They have a policy that could cripple your ability to start confidently-they do not disburse financial aid funds until 3 weeks into the semester.

Honestly, it's a fine school for those right out of high school, or those returning. Ivy Tech is pretty inexpensive compared to other colleges and it's a good school to start off the college career. However, the administration is pretty annoying.

I would say that Ivy Tech is a decent option for people who are looking to save as much money as possible. If you can afford to go to a different school, I would recommend that because the enrolling process is really confusing, advisors are always changing, and financial aid/registrars office is hard to get ahold of and never give you a consistent answer to questions you might have. The teachers at campus are usually good and I do enjoy the smaller class sizes but I think you could find much better course selections and teachers at other colleges.

I got screwed because the staff there have no idea what they are talking about and don't care to help anyone and have no respect for military students. I have to pay out of pocket for a semester because of the Financial Aid staff. Also when I went to talk to Financial Aid, the lady walked away from me just so she could talk about me to the person that was calling her.

Ivy Tech is a very clean and mostly well organized school. For me they have campuses close to home, but the downside is only some campuses offer certain classes. Easily one of the more affordable colleges.

Ivy Tech makes getting an education affordable. The atmosphere at the school is encouraging and every professor I've had has personally assisted my academic success. If you're looking for the best way to start your college journey, no matter how long you've been away from education, you've found a great school.

I can't get my adviser to return my emails or calls. I transferred in credits from another regionally accredited community college and only one was accepted; I was told it was most likely an error, but I couldn't get the registrar's office to reevaluate my transcript. I submitted all my documentation for financial aid months in advance and still didn't get it in time for spring semester.

Ivy Tech is a great school to start with and transfer to a four year college. The classes transfer easily and the professors are well versed. It is easy to obtain your general education classes with the intent for them to transfer to a four year institution.
