The dorms are sort of hit or miss here. They're spread all around campus and there are several different types. Some are traditional hall style and some are arranged in…
The village lacks air conditioning. East campus dorms are amazing and the rest are equally nice. The housing situation is really great.…
the dorms range in comfort levels depending on where you are located. in general, the dorms are all comfortable and bathrooms are readily available. there are kitchens in all dorm…
east campus dorms are the newest and nicest, but they are out of the way since most freshman classes will be on the quad. however, the bus system makes it…
It really depends on where you'll be staying. All the Bluestones are very nice and the East Campus dorms are all new and gorgeous, but there are places that are…
There are so many excellent options for food! I’ve almost made it through 2 semesters and I still haven’t tried everything JMU has to offer. The food selection and quality is something everyone can agree on; there’s something for everyone.
Read MoreThere are so many options to choose from. From your favorite chick fil a to the school's own dining selections, everything tastes divine and is reachable at affordable rates. The food truly tastes good whether its pasta or crepes. There's no need for Ramen when you have such a variety at your fingertips.
Read MorePros: E-Hall is delicious! The food is almost like home cooking and at brunch they make to order eggs, omelets, pancakes, etc. There is also a Chick-fil-A, an Auntie Anne's and two Starbucks on campus where you can spend Dining Dollars. There are a lot of food locations compared to other colleges. There are vending machines everywhere that also accept Dining Dollars. Cons: I have a sensitive stomach and it's difficult to eat healthy at JMU. Although I'm not vegan or vegetarian, I gave up meat for a month and it was extremely difficult to find food. Most food locations (especially D-Hall), do not serve food that is very fresh or nutritious. It's easy to start living out of the vending machines that are in every dorm. Meal plans are required if living on campus. I bought the 11 meals/week meal plan (the least) and I still didn't use all my punches every week. Extra punches do not carry over to the next week. You can only punch once at breakfast, twice at lunch, and twice at dinner. Lines for dining halls get very long for weekend brunch.
Read MoreOne thing JMU students will confidently say no matter the Princeton Review ratings is that we have the best food in the country. Luckily, we are nationally ranked. Our dining is primarily gourmet but has the comforting taste of a home-cook meal. We have a huge variety of options that quenches every craving.
Read MoreWe're sixth in the nation for campus food this year! There are almost 30 different dining locations on campus, and students are able to eat at any of them (you're not tied to specific dining halls based on living area of meal plan for example). Even after you move off campus, most students get meal plans. It's just so much more convenient and so so good! We have both Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts on campus, as well as one of four Starbucks trucks in the country!
Read MoreI mean, we are nationally ranked for food. What more can I say? :) Actually, I have food allergies, and I found it pretty tough to find stuff that I could eat on campus and they way they wanted to accommodate me was less than helpful. But if you don't have food allergies, the food is wonderful.

Read MoreThere are lots of places on campus to eat. The food is good, and there is a wide variety of choices, many of which can be bought with your meal card.
Read MoreThe food here is excellent and is ranked very highly when it comes to food and dining. There is great variety with places that are buffet style like Mrs. Greenes and D and E Halls, restaurant style like Dukes, Top Dog, Market One, Chik-Fil-A, and Madison Grille. We also have a convenience store called Mr. Chips that has a Quiznos and other food products.
Read MoreThe food there is amazing. Here comes the freshman 15!
Read MoreA great way to become a part of something so loving and exciting!
Read MoreGreek life is big at JMU. Not everyone is in a sorority and even less are in fraternities, but most of the social life at JMU revolves around Greek parties or events. Rush is the first week of the semester.
Read MoreNot too huge, I think around 16% of the student body. You definitely don't feel like you need to rush/join, and there isn't a huge divide between the Greeks/non-Greeks.
Read MoreTechnically only 10% of campus is greek life but it feels like you can never escape them. I'm sure that they are nice people but they all look exactly the same.
Read MoreI'm very interested in Greek Life, and I've been told that there are lots of sororities on campus
Read MoreBrotherhood and sisterhood = a bond that is unbreakable.
Read MoreDefinitely increasing. If you want to be in it there are plenty of options, if you don't it doesn't end your chance of a social life.
Read MoreTons of options here.
Read MoreI am in a sorority and absolutely love it! At first I was leery of joining but am so glad I did. Greek Life is a growing community here at JMU but you don't have to join to be involved socially or even involved in the JMU volunteering community.
Read MoreThere are many Sororities and Fraternities around campus if that is something you are interested in. It is a good way to get to know people and interact with people so that they will remember you.
