I know it's impossible to be unbiased about JMU as a student there, but I really do believe that JMU is the most underrated school in Virginia. The academics are overshadowed by its rival, Virginia Tech, who is rumored to be the better school but the academics at JMU are superb. Professors really care (for the most part; there are always exceptions to the rule), and a lot of them, from my experience, like to engage in discussions. Lots of studying going on in the libraries and in Showker (the business building). I'm definitely learning a...

James Madison University is the place to be if you want to become a well-rounded individual. JMU has a lot of really fantastic programs of study, as well as many opportunities to become involved on campus (through clubs and other organizations)! The food, campus life, and people are amazing--come to JMU!!

James Madison University is a school for those who love school spirit (but is welcoming to those who don't) and a sense of community. You cannot walk along the quad or through east campus without seeing purple and gold! Football games are a blast and the Marching Royal Dukes always put on a wonderful show. You will love the community of students and professors, and Harrisonburg is a wonderful little college town nestled within the Shenandoah Valley.

  • I am researching this school and have visited the campus

A highly achieved university that lays a little secluded from the city but just enough to maintain a peaceful environment while still providing access to great shopping centers and other public establishments. Its wide variety of clubs and diverse Greek life extends to students with open arms. An incredibly beautiful campus with great dining, dorm buildings, and events that never fail to burst with excitement and unfathomable school spirit.

When the students say they bleed purple, this declaration is no way an understatement as school spirit runs deep in the veins of all current students and alumni. There is always something to do at James Madison despite the small town surrounding campus. The dedication and undergraduate opportunities that this university offers to the students is none like I have ever see.

A fun place to learn in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley. A small campus feel for such a big university.
