Am learning a lot
There are large lectures and small group classes so everyone can learn in an environment right for them. The professors are smart and well educated. Lots of them take them time, if you come see them, to personally help you when you need it.
Am enjoying being here
I love the campus. It is gorgeous year-round and there are so many activities, groups, organizations you can get involved in here. No matter your interests, you are sure to find something fun to do around campus and find a group that's right for you. The people here are amazing, friendly, helpful, and tons of fun.
Tips for prospective students
If you've never visited the campus before, before school starts, take the time to walk around campus, find out where buildings are, find your classrooms, the union, the library, etc. so you won't get lost on your way to class. Don't go home every weekend- it will help the transition go smoother. Make an effort to get out there and meet people. Talk with your adviser if you have any questions/concerns about your schedule, life on campus, etc. Read the Collegian and the Fourum everyday!
Great for these types of students
-likes to meet lots of people
-wants to get involved
-can learn in big classes
-has great school spirit
-doesn't mind a large campus
-wants to have fun!

Lots of very intelligent professors and many to choose from. Very good learning environment.
Am enjoying being here
There is something for everyone. Whether you want a quiet coffee shop, a good party, or lots of student activities, Manhattan has it. I've lived here for my whole life (20 years) and i don't want to leave. Great community!
Bang for the buck
Tuition is bad anywhere you go. But the constant raise of tuition gets annoying. They are talking about starting a plan where you pay the tuition you started with as a freshman the entire time you're in college even if the tuition goes up.
Tips for prospective students
Do your research on where you want to live. Lots of students get into the Greek life and end up regretting it. It isn't as good as they tell you (from a first hand experience). Look into dorm opportunties if you want to meet new people and stay away from the greek life. It is not good for your academics (which is what your going to college for). There is plenty of partying elsewhere trust me :).

Am learning a lot
I am learning so much. Some classes are boring but that is to be expected especially for the gen eds but once I started taking classes for my major I realized how much I enjoyed going to class and learning new things that sometimes you rattle off to your friends later.
Am enjoying being here
I am getting ready to start my sophomore year here at k-state and I have enjoyed every minute. There are several things to do around campus to get involved. I love playing intramural sports and there are several club sports if you want a more competitive atmosphere. Volunteer opportunities are endless and doing them with friends makes it a great time and you also meet new people along the way.
Bang for the buck
Paying tuition is never fun but compared to other universities around the country k-state is pretty reasonably priced and the experience and people you meet are worth every penny.
Tips for prospective students
Get involved! Meeting new people is part of the college experience and it also helps to make connections for a future job down the road.
Also, stay in the Dorms at least one year. Everyone there is usually new and wanting to make friends. The Dorms also have several activities to do.
Great for these types of students
Friendly
Wants to get involved
Athletes
K-state has a well rounded university that just about everyone can find something they are passionate about.

Am learning a lot
The professors here are great and really know in-depth about the subject they are teaching. Most of the classes are very informative and the environment is very positive, especially if you have a problem that arises, it is solved almost right away. The advising system here is also great, and it gives you the opportunity to always have someone to go to for a problem if they need it.
Am enjoying being here
The campus is beautiful, especially when the seasons change, and the Residence Halls are a great home-away-from-home. The professors are very willing to help no matter what the problem is. There is also a very high amount of school spirit that makes everyone feel welcomed. All in all a very enjoyable campus.
Bang for the buck
For me the out-of-state tuition is a little high; nearly double that of the in-state, however the professors do know their subjects and the food you get at the dining centers not only taste good but are also good for you, versus other food options that students have. However I am very satisfied with what I am paying for.
Tips for prospective students
I highly recommend living in a Residence Hall for at least your first year because there are plenty of resources that are offered in them that you cannot get elsewhere. Also make use of the services that are on campus; they will help you if you need it. Keep a good relationship with your advisor, not only so that they can help you in your college experience, but also because they may write your letter of recommendation when you apply to Graduate school. And lastly get involved with campus activities. The activities you did in high school will only stay on your resume until after you become a sophomore so do as much as you are able to on campus; not only will it help boost your resume but it is also a great way to meet people and get involved with the campus community.
Great for these types of students
Great for someone who enjoys crazy weather, both large and small classes, someone who is interested in a Veterinary career, and someone who doesn't mind being away from the city.

Am learning a lot
Since it is a large campus it offers a wide variety of classes: small classroom settings, large lecture halls, evening courses, online classes, as well as a wide range of subjects and topics. Tutoring is very available and also extremely beneficial.
Am enjoying being here
The campus is beautiful, the library is a great place to study, and the union offers a good place to relax, eat, and hang out with friends. Not only does the campus offer a great deal to the student, but nearby Aggieville caters primarily to the students of K-State. It offers fantastic places to eat, shop, and hang out. It's wonderful having a campus in such a close-knit community. Everyone is so friendly and makes you feel comfortable and at home.
Bang for the buck
This campus offers a great variety of courses and the professors are all exceptional educators. There are many social events, sporting events, and clubs for students to join in, meet people, and have a good time between classes.
Tips for prospective students
Even though a parking pass may be somewhat expensive, if you live farther from campus it may be worth purchasing it. If living in the dorms are not to your liking, there are many affordable apartments and subleasers within walking distance to campus.
Great for these types of students
- Friendly
- Athletic (or spectator)
- Open to community

Am learning a lot
I'am definitely learning a lot as a first year student here. I'm just a freshman so my classes are not to challenging yet, but you still have to have a more sophisticated comprehension of material learnt then in high school.
Am enjoying being here
The people here are very nice and helpful, everybody gets along and what makes it even better the school is very diverse. The environment here is very warm and vibrant, and you start developing a sense of home here after a while. There are activities and all kinds of clubs to join for everybody of all races.
Bang for the buck
I feel you get the most out of your money here as far as education goes, but the housing contract is quite expensive compared to living in an apartment.
Tips for prospective students
Make sure you study hard and comprehend the material, this is not high school I repeat, THIS IS NOTHING LIKE HIGH SCHOOL! You will need to study and pull those all nighters so suck it up. when you get here know what your getting into and ask yourself how bad you want it and how hard do you need to work to obtain it, so set goals and achieve them.
Great for these types of students
Great for all kinds of students especially those seeking the full experience of college life.

I've never had any experience in agriculture but decided to take the Animal Science major on my road to Veterinary Medicine. The professors, my advisor, and students have all been extremely helpful and I learned more in one semester than I probably did my entire high school career.
Am enjoying being here
The atmosphere at Kansas State University is fantastic! It's small town and homey but provides every opportunity that a large school should. I've never had a bad or dull moment.
Bang for the buck
Kansas State is extremely reasonable. There are students from all over the nation and world because of how cheap tuition is. Plus, the education you get is the best and so many well-respected figures have come from K-State.
Tips for prospective students
Come in open-minded and expecting to meet new people. Do as many activities as possible and then decide which ones you actually want to stick with. Also, make sure you get out of your comfort zone because that's usually where the best experiences happen.
Great for these types of students
Kansas State is great for every kind of student. There's something for everyone and provides a unique family atmosphere that nowhere else can compare with. I wouldn't change my decision for any university in the world.

I am definitely learning a lot about myself and my major through my classes at K-State. I can't speak for all the different departments but the Apparel and Textiles program has professors who really know their stuff and I love how they are extremely sustanability-focused.
Am enjoying being here
I did not want to attend a large school or a school in Kansas so I'm really not sure why I ended up choosing K-State. It hasn't really been anything that I wanted in a college experience, but then again the experience is different for everyone and most people that choose K-State really do love it.
Bang for the buck
Honestly I don't know how much other schools in Kansas cost because I didn't look around, but for in-state students I assume K-State's costs are pretty average. The dorms are dorms, the classes are nothing exceptional, but it is a good school and you will get a good education from here.
Tips for prospective students
Don't worry right away about what you're going to major in. Have an idea of what you would like to do and maybe take an introductory class in that subject but don't get completely stuck on that major unless its been your dream since you were 5 because your values, passions, and interests will probably change a little in college.

Get involved! There are so many clubs and activities to become involved in and even though it's a big school you can see a ton of people you know by just walking to class if you join a few clubs.

Riding a bike to class will get you there faster, but in order to avoid hitting a million pedestrians stay on the larger sidewalks and leave 5 minutes earlier. And be very, very aware of cars around you.

If you are going to go to formal recruitment for the sororities make sure to get references from alumni of all the houses you can because sometimes it really factors in to what you end up with. And don't bother rushing if your GPA is extremely low.
Great for these types of students
Anyone interested in anything agriculture related. Anyone interested in going to a school that is a little more environmentally-conscious. Anyone looking for a slightly cheaper alternative to KU. Really though, there are all types of people at K-State and you don't only need to be an ag major to come here.

It's been over 2 1/2 years now since coming to K-state, and I can easily notice the growth of knowledge attained. As a member of CAPD (College of Architecture, Planning, and Design) I can look back at my projects from the beginning and see the progression in quality, detail, and creativity. I absolutely feel like I am getting an education that is preparing me for my future career as an architect.
Am enjoying being here
Kansas State has one of the most beautiful campuses around the mid-west. The campus is compact so it's easy to get around town, and friends are always close by. Sporting events are a blast! The athletics here are a great way to take a break and have fun with friends. Go Cats!
Bang for the buck
Kansas State University is very reasonable cost wise, for a public university. There are many ways to receive scholarship money through the university.
Being from Saint Louis and attending for architecture, I received the Missouri Student Exchange Waver, which allows me to pay in-state rather than out-of-state tuition (thousands of dollars in saving).
Tips for prospective students
Keep working hard in school, but also focus on extra-curricular activities. They can be a lot of fun, and colleges like to see well rounded students.
Great for these types of students
If interested in architecture, I would highly suggest you take a tour and get more information about the program at K-state.

The academics are wonderful! So far I have learned more in one semester than I did during one year at my high school! The science, english, and math departments offer in depth tutoring and a caring and personal atmosphere. Some of the lecture class sizes are large but for the most part classes are limited to 30 students per teacher. So this small atmosphere definitely helps with my learning and one on one time with my teachers.
Am enjoying being here
I love it in Manhattan, KS! The people are so friendly and administrators genuinely care for your success in achieving your goals. Living in the residence halls got me great friends within the first three hours since the RAs' and MAs' are so helpful at bringing everyone together and mediating any conflicts.
Bang for the buck
I would definitely chose K-state over any other colleges because they give me the most scholarship money and the most opportunities for work to help assist me through my college experience. Considering the academics and atmosphere here at K-state are so awesome I think it's definitely worth the money!
Tips for prospective students
Don't procrastinate and stay on top of deadlines! Get your scholarship application in and your general application in quickly and don't forget to do your fafsa!
Great for these types of students
Outgoing, humble, friendly, academically focused
