In three sentences
Kellogg is a great and cheap place to get your gen eds out of the way. The students and staff here are very friendly and accommodating. The classes are fun and are good quality for the price.
Tips for prospective students
Just try your hardest and give yourself time to do the homework or study for the exams and you should do fine. Especially try to attend the classes and pay attention to the lectures because you will learn the material better and the teacher may put what he or she said in the lecture on a test.
Academic Rigor
The classes can be challenging at times but with enough effort and time you will do great. Plus, if the teachers see that you are trying they will try to work with you more to help you succeed.
Dorm Life
There are no dorms considering it is a community college.
Food and Dining
There is a variety of foods from sushi to french fries, but they aren't very cheap. There are some restaurants about 5 minutes from the school, like McDonalds, Subway, and KFC, which are cheaper options if you are willing to go for a small drive.
What to do for fun
The library can be a fun place to go, they have a new table that you can play games on with friends. Or you can go to the student lounge area by the cafeteria, a bunch of people hang out there so it'd be a good place to meet people.
Bang for the buck
It's about $160 per credit hour for the same class as you'll take university which will cost you $500 per credit hour instead. So, I'd say you definitely get your bang for the buck.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
They have Bruin Blast in the fall and spring where there are a bunch of booths and games that everyone can take part in and they had a bounce house this year. They also have Bruins Give Back where students volunteer for many different things, such as teaching children about the environment or planting flowers.
Great for these types of students
Kellogg is great for students who want to save money while getting college credits, students who work and want to go to college, adults who are going to college part time for a degree they want for a change in career, or students who want a cheaper way to explore options of what they want to major in.
Clubs and Activities
There are many clubs at Kellogg for different types of people, such as Phi Theta Kappa for honors students, Film club, or Student Nursing Association.
Greek Life
There isn't a Greek life here.
Campus Safety
The campus is pretty secure. There is at least on person on duty in front of the campus bookstore who makes sure everyone who enters is a student and makes them place their bags into the bag cubicles inside the door so nobody can steal or hurt anyone. Also, there is always a police car in the parking lot during late classes making sure everyone gets to their cars safely.
