There are many activities and programs around the campus students can join and attend.

i never really did a lot of "just-for-fun" things because i felt that my extracurriculars were so much fun to begin with! kish's chapter of phi theta kappa often did activities like bake sales, makeshift sports games -- like kickball, dodgeball, ultimate frisbee, etc. -- and an annual trash pickup. i also know that there's a game room by the cafeteria, which is open whenever the campus is open -- i think. (i never used it, but i had quite a few friends who did.) the college also occasionally hosts fun activities for the campus as a whole. the annual kougar kick-off, for example, always has all kinds of food and games. at the last one i went to, they had a dunk tank where students could "dunk" their instructors.

Kishwaukee college holds many events on campus, as well as contests. My personal favorite is the Kamelian spring event, in which students can submit their artwork for a chance at a cash prize, as well as a spot in their yearly published campus magazine. The clubs and organizations are very diverse, offering many options to meet other students who share the same interests. At Kishwaukee, you will find that the friendly atmosphere is most inviting, so don't hesitate to explore these options!

Most students sit in the many lounges or cafeteria when not in class, and there is a ping pong table set up where students play. During the fall months, some students go to the local apple orchard and get cider and doughnuts when on their breaks but keep in mind the campus really is in a cornfield so there isn't that much to do unless you take the 10 minute drive onto NIU's campus.

You can join a club! Another thing people don't realize is that they should read the bulletin boards and posters around campus! Kishwaukee does have a lot of seminars and different programs that many students don't attend. Check your email for some of the events. Otherwise, if that doesn't sound appealing there is not much else to do at Kishwaukee besides take your classes and then go home.

As far at Kishwaukee College itself, get involved with clubs and organizations if you want to have fun. These clubs plan events on campus as well as volunteer opportunities off campus. However, Malta is a small rural town where there is not much in terms of entertainment. Dekalb is only about 6 miles east where NIU is located. There are many restaurants, some shopping, and a movie theater. The good news is that Kishwaukee College is only 65 miles west of Chicago so that makes for good weekend fun.
