Categories Comments Campus Safety I always feel safe here even if it means walking to my car at night. There is a bus that picks you up in the front of the school and will take you straight to your car, in whichever parking lot you parked in. Trust me, this is perfect when it pouring rain or snowing intensely.
Greek Life There is none that I know of, which is sad because I really would like to be involved in this. One downside to community college!
Great for these types of students Great for all types of students! There is such a diversity here.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus I just found out about the Holden University which is right across from Lakeland's main campus. There are some programs that you can take there to finish the bachelor degree in the program you have chosen. Schools such as Kent, Bowling Green, Youngstown and Ohio University all of programs there where you will technically be a graduate of one of those 4 year colleges, but you will be paying lakeland tuition!!
Bang for the buck The prices are unbelievably reasonable for a community college. The courses are challenging, but you will get the same education as you will at any 4 year program!
What to do for fun There are so many extracurricular activities to do at Lakeland! Make sure you check a list of clubs to get involved :) I feel like every time I walk into the main entryway there is always speakers and music set up to keep the feeling up beat while you're attending the school.
Food and Dining I personally enjoy our dining hall! There is always new hot food available that is constantly being changed and refilled. The mac and cheese is my absolute favorite! There is also a little coffee place in front of the dining hall which has amazing cappuccinos and tea that will definitely help if you have night or morning classes. The prices are reasonable too!
Dorm Life There is no dorm life at the community college.
Academic Rigor In my personal medical field the courses are extremely challenging. The course load can be overwhelming at times, but it is all for your benefit and is only there to help you understand the material. A majority of classes will have cumulative finals so make sure you keep up on your work or the end of the semester will be a serious wake up call!
Tips for prospective students If you are planning on attending Lakeland, I would recommend making appointments ahead of time with counseling offices, since sometimes you will have to wait a while for walk in appointments. I would get involved in as many extracurricular as possible because it will make your experience here much more fun! Make sure to apply to scholarships because there are so many you may be eligible for. Also, another tip I would suggest is speaking with students of Lakeland to get an idea of what courses and teachers to take because you want to know the teaching style of some teachers before you register :)
In three sentences Lakeland Community College is the best bang for your buck! The courses and professors here are challenging but you feel a sense of reward at the end of each semester. There are so many extracurriculars and scholarship opportunities for prospective students!

Dorm Life There are no dorms, it is a community college.
Academic Rigor Flexible
Tips for prospective students Go to your teacher's office hours, they sometimes give hints for the exams and it will help you do better in the course. Check your email at least once a week, or preferred once a day, because this will be how your teachers and other activities will keep in contact with you. Most importantly, join a club. There are over 30 clubs at Lakeland and staying involved will help you make lasting friendships and it will look great on scholarships, resumes and college applications among many other benefits.
In three sentences You will get a great education, even better than some four year colleges or universities because Lakeland has a small enough population that everything is personalized to help you succeed.Their slogan, Opportunity starts here, is completely true; they have so many programs set up to help you succeed that, unless you don't use them, it is impossible to fail. Of course, the low cost helps these qualities become accessible for anyone.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Many quiet places designated for studying if you need to study before a class or if you need extra time to study/do homework and aren't able to at home. Dorm Life Lakeland Community College does not have dorms but there is FREE PARKING!
Academic Rigor Lakeland is a community college but that does not mean that their education system isn't as great as a university's education program. Many people seem to think it is cheap so their academic program is not going to help them in the future when they want to apply for a job.
In three sentences Lakeland is a community college which provides education with a lower and more affordable cost than most schools. The instructors are always willing to help and they take their job seriously. Many students should look into this school if they want to stay close to home and not be in a lot of debt by the time they finish.

Dorm Life Lakeland is just a community college so there are no dorms. Just a normal city around you, nothing to special.
Academic Rigor Lakeland offers classes that can make you push your limits, and it allows you to learn different subjects to get a feel for what you like, or do not like. There are also a good amount of classes for each subject, which really offers a great about of learning.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus Safety is there for just that, campus safety. If you have late night classes, and do not want to walk alone to your vehicle, there are call stations located through out the campus. Campus Safety will come and escort you to your vehicle, your safety is their concern.
Bang for the buck A person can get the higher education they want at Lakeland, without the costly tuition of other schools.
What to do for fun There are different sporting events to watch, and activities and groups to join, while attending Lakeland Community College. Of course if you have more time, there is shopping at the local mall also.
Food and Dining I, personally have not checked out the dining hall. I do know where it is located, and the smells that come out of there are pretty good. There are also vending machines for the quick snack located through out the facility.
Dorm Life I do not know anything about dorm life.
Academic Rigor As with any academics, if you want to succeed, you have to strive for that success. There is a full staffed library to help with any research you may have, along with any other help you may need. There is also, tutoring available if you are in need of a little extra help. It is there to be taken advantage of !
Tips for prospective students Make Lakeland one of the colleges you look into for future education. They offer almost as much as some of your higher priced schools, for less money. You will still have the College atmosphere you might be looking for, but closer to home, and less expensive.
In three sentences I enjoy attending Lakeland Community College. The class sizes are not huge, the staff is very helpful. It is very easy to locate all classes.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Great for those that don't have a lot of time - schedules will work around you! Also for those who want to have a whole college experience without the large tuition bill. Lakeland is great for just about everyone that wants an education - there are many different types of people that attend here! You can see it as soon as you walk in the door - this place is for you!
Tips for prospective students If you really want to get an education without paying the tens of thousands, there are plenty of degrees at Lakeland. Nursing, Radiology, Computer Systems, Firefighter, etc. There is definitely something for everyone. One tip that I tell EVERYONE I know is to make sure to set up an appointment with a counselor to go over the courses you need to take to complete your degree. A lot of people waste their time taking classes that don't count for their degree! Plan ahead - make sure you are taking the right classes. Also, go on a college tour! There was so much that I learned form my tour after having been there for an entire year already! You will definitely get the inside scoop!
Bang for the buck It really is worth all the money put into your education. There are many free services here also. Tutoring, Writing, Career Services, Tours, Women Support, Counseling, etc. I don't want to leave all these luxuries! Oh and FREE PARKING!!!
Am enjoying being here I really love coming to school! I am usually excited about my classes, even in subjects I don't particularly like! There are so many different clubs to join - there's something for everyone. You can really find your place here.
Am learning a lot The professors here are very knowledgeable. They are very welcoming and seem to truly care about their students. A lot of my professors are also my tutors! There is so much knowledge contained in these walls, it's hard not to learn a lot here!
