Talk to REAL students that go here if you want to get a good idea of what goes on here. Don't listen to your tour guides, whether they be students or faculty. They're paid to embellish the truth. Go seek out some the tips from students, preferably those who aren't very involved in the regiment, if you want to hear what the school's like. Do your homework and don't get bullied into picking a major that doesn't suit you. I believe that the best advice would be to look elsewhere if you can handle a better engineering curriculum. This college is not nearly as hand-on as its touted as being. Also, if you're considering the Marine Transportations Operations (MTO) major, look at VOT and SVO as possibly superior programs. People in those majors are typically a lot happier, can still earn plenty of money, can enjoy their summers doing real work and learning instead of cruising on the State of Maine traning vessel, and end up getting a lot more hands-on experience with boats and the water than MTO majors.

If you're applying here for engineering; be prepared for a few math classes, but they aren't too bad. Also, it's eastern maine, be prepared for a cold, snowy winter.

I would definitely pick this school again if I could go back. I've been given an opportunity to see the world while getting an education.
