Most Helpful Review for Mary Baldwin University

The courses at Mary Baldwin can definitely be challenging. Of course some classes are harder than others and some professors are more helpful than others, but the small class size creates an environment where students can connect with their professors better. General education classes at Mary Baldwin have about twenty students. The ability to connect with fellow students and professors in small classes has been helpful to me because I can follow along to the lectures and ask questions when I need to. I really feel as though I have learned a lot this semester.

Upon first glance, it's not awful. The people (mostly girls due to its past as an all girls college) are generally nice and the laundry is free. Classes aren't challenging in the least, though. Food was awful. My freshman dorm had no air conditioning at all and we weren't allowed anything but fans in the hot Virginian summer!!!!!! I spent most of my weekends in my dorm because I didn't have a car and the only things to do were too far to walk. Party-life is literally nothing. You'd have to go to JMU for that.

Mary Baldwin provides an equal opportunity for scholarships and easy access to independent majors. Overall you get what you pay for at this campus/academically which is fairly cheap. Do not come in knowing you pay 3k a semester and expect Harvard.

Campus environment is quiet and close-knit. Dining hall food is not so great. Downtown is a really good place to hangout.

MBC is a great college for those who enjoy the small town atmosphere. This college has many leadership gateways to soothe any student interest. I personally chose the Virginia Women Institution of Leadership (VWIL) , it is a very intense program from what I have gathered.

Being in a small all-girls school in the mountains is a great experience. You make close friends, can focus on your schoolwork and get involved on campus. Leadership and standing out isn't hard and both students and professors support you.
