Am learning a lot
The teachers really get to know the students and there is a lot of individual, personalized attention given to the students. There is a lot of help provided to everyone either with the teacher, students or in the Learning Resource Center where there is tutoring most of the time for various subjects. Anyone can go anytime to study and it is great!
Am enjoying being here
It is a very small campus and for the most part everyone knows each other and is very friendly.
Bang for the buck
It is definitely worth it! Every last cent is worth it. I have payed out of my pocket some amounts and it does not hurt me at all to pay for college with my earnings because I love it!
Tips for prospective students
Call the school or go online to the website to fill out all the paperwork needed. Feel Free to call the school if you need anything. READ ALL THE PAPERWORK they send you. They send important information. Once in the college don't procrastinate and STUDY!!! (buy your books online) and don't forget to enjoy your college years!
Great for these types of students
Friendly, hard working, on-task students who want to go to a small school. Competitive Nursing Program, great in Liberal Arts.

Am learning a lot
I am learning so much , I am so far a nursing major and it is really awesome. Just Biology alone is very interesting where you learn so much about your body and you realize why things happen to you. The teachers are really good. The tutoring here is great. So many resources here to help you and learn.
Am enjoying being here
I love dorming it is a great experience. I have fun with my friends especially since it is a small campus it is not a far walk to see my friends who live on campus. The security guards are really nice, it is such a friendly environment i feel i am at home
Bang for the buck
Yes, even though it is expensive it is worth it. With your room and board you get an 80 dollar food allowance in the cafeteria. You get free tutoring, you can print papers, lecture notes, and personal items in the PC lab for free no charge. You have an online website called angel where you can see your lecture notes , and your grade. Some classes have online quizzes. The Psychological department you get free meetings with them up to 10 times. The library is wonderful with the study rooms. It is worth it.
Tips for prospective students
Make sure you give your all once you start. Nursing program is extremely competitive. It is a small school so make sure you are out of the high school mind set and a serious college student. Learn to say no before you start, so you won't feel bad to saying no to go clubbing or a party. Also TIME MANAGEMENT.
Great for these types of students
Nursing
Biology Majors
Sociology
Physical Therapy
also serious students who will not fall behind.

The Mount has a great amount to offer any student. You learn something everyday in and out of the classrooms. The education is incredible. I am learning a great deal everyday when I go to class. The classroom settings are smaller and more personal. You have the opportunity to know your professor on a more personal level. Your professors will know your name and face. We have the Learning Center which offers tutoring, academic help, and workshops for every student. The Library has computer rooms, a great online database, and study rooms. The academics are wonderful.
Am enjoying being here
The Mount campuses are beautiful. I am living on the Chalon Campus which has a great view of Santa Monica and the city of Los Angeles. It's tucked away in the hills of Brentwood. There are a great many clubs that create diversity and offer something for everyone. Social events and fundraisers are always going on as well as movie nights, game nights, and talent shows. There is a lot to participate in. For example, the Campus Ministry bakes free cookies every Monday for all students to enjoy. And when you want to get down the Mount, there is a shuttle service that takes students to several locations and shuttle buses that travel between the Chalon and Doheney campuses.
Bang for the buck
If you want a good education, then Mount St Mary's College is the place. You receive a good education that will apply to any major of your choice. The Mount produces successful and great adults who can enter the work force with knowledge, experience, and social skills. It is worth the money, every single cent.
Tips for prospective students
No matter what college you attend, you are going to have to work. You have to be willing to study and work hard. Mount St Mary's is a great college and they provide top tier students to the work force for every major. But you need to make the decision to work hard, study hard, and socialize. It is all about balance. You have to learn it, practice it, and live it. I hope you make the right choice.
Great for these types of students
Mount St Mary's offers a wonderful nursing program. You can do the four year or five year nursing program. This school produces the finest nursing students who go on to become incredible nurses with great jobs.

If you want a challenging college experience, academically, this is the place. But even when it's challenging, you really learn how to manage your time between school and social life. The only reason people would dislike this school is because they're making it hard on themselves.
Tips for prospective students
Study first, play later. Make sure you take any extra free time to study. And if you feel like it'll be nerve-wrecking to make friends, EVERYONE is friendly at the Mount, especially the professors. Just take the time to talk anyone and everyone. It makes a difference for someone's day if you take the moment to greet them outside of class.
Academic Rigor
Like I said before, it's not easy. Professors are tough, but they are there to help you out. Even if some of the professors seem intimidating, they will be there to help you, and they will help you only if you ask though. And even if going to the professor, you feel you need help, there are many ways to get help out at the Mount: tutoring or the learning center. The Mount wants you to graduate, and they want to help you. You just need to ask.
Dorm Life
Sure, there's the downsides: it's pricey, not a compatible roommate, people occasionally being a bit loud during quiet hours, not enough laundry machines for the busy days, cafeteria isn't open more than 15 hours a day, etc. But, there's the upsides to dorm life, like meeting new people, getting your own study environment, being able to attend the activities at school, using classrooms at night for studying, 24-hour security that is always literally closeby and so on. The experience of dorm life is up to you to take. I feel safe dorming here at the Mount than I would at any other college.

I have a single suite, and I feel fine with the size and the furniture within it. Some people may complain, but its really up to preference.
Food and Dining
Meal plans leave me with more than enough money each week, for those of you who go home on weekends can bring a few snacks and food the fam, and if you have guests, the money you have left over leaves you with enough to last the week. (Meal plans are weekly rates). The food is so-so, but it's far from terrible. And if you're a vegetarian, they always offer vegetarian dishes. There aren't as many choices as if you were to go to a UC or a Cal-state or large university, but this is a small campus: everyone can eat, and there's a variety of food to choose from.
What to do for fun
There's lots of things to do here! Aside from the gym complete with tennis and basketball courts and the pool, the Mount offers weekly activities for both residents and commuters. From making crafts such as a dream-catcher or lantern to the Athenian cafe where there's free iced coffee and wii game tournaments!
Bang for the buck
School is pricey, but it can be worth it if you make it worth it.

I'm like most of you, poor out of my mind, but the Mount offers work-study that can help you out and scholarships. I've made great friends to make up for the amount of money my parents are spending for my tuition.
Great for these types of students
Catholic students who like to have fun! But, this school doesn't force religion on you; the Mount accepts everyone and anyone.
Campus Safety
24-hour security keeps me sleeping peacefully at night.

They are always close-by, too.

mount st. mary's college has brought me countless opportunities. not only with my intellectual learning , but also physically and emotionally. compared to all the other colleges i toured and explored, mount st. mary's was the ideal school for me.
Tips for prospective students
ask questions, either if you are planning to live on campus or commute, asking current students how that current school is will help you figure out if it fits your best needs.
Academic Rigor
what school doesn't bring a challenge. rigor is what you make of it, but mount st. mary's being a small college gives you one on one attention that you need and available hands on help at your own time.
Dorm Life
dorm life is an experience i am still getting accustomed to. due to the small population of students, residence halls tend to be quiet. yet this can be a plus due to all the homework and studying that is required of me.
Food and Dining
there is nothing like mom's home cooked meals of course. anywhere you stay you wont get the comfort of your mom's delicious secret recipes but mount st. mary's does try to replicate that ideal home comfort food.
What to do for fun
located in downtown los angeles there is countless opportunities for fun. staples center, nokia theater, home to the la lakers and more. mount st. mary's allows students a countless array of outside activities due to its location.
Bang for the buck
you have the opportunities to make your own experience. ever heard the phrase, life is what you make of it? well this idiom is a copy of that, you have the choice to make what you choose to attend a pleasant experience.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
traditions here you will find many. from athenian day , which basically is a game day for the entire school. to laurel awards for those who do exceptional volunteer work. mount st. mary's does a great job of keeping old school traditions alive for incoming and current students.
Great for these types of students
sociable, volunteer oriented, faith based, like small populations.
Clubs and Activities
women leadership, early childhood education club, business club, volunteers in partnership, asb.
Campus Safety
hands on security 24/7, need someone to walk you to your dorm at night call security and they are there.

Am learning a lot
The one thing i love about this college is that the class sizes are really small. I once had a class of 8 students in total! Since classes are smaller you have more interaction with your professor, enriching your learning. The professors here are supportive and have certain times when you can meet them if you need help, to look at your previous exams, and to answer any questions you have. And if you are still lost once you meet with your professors, there are tutors available to help you. I know that helped me review for my exams. This is very important especially for nursing students.
Am enjoying being here
I absolutely love it here. It is a very beautiful and peaceful campus. If you like to be outdoors and nature you will like it here. Our campus has a small gym, tennis and basketball courts. If you want to go out, there are shuttles that take you to Westwood/UCLA, or to the 3rd st. Promenade and of course to the Doheney Campus. Another thing is that it is a very safe and friendly environment. Since it is a very small campus you get to know everyone. They also host a lot of events throughout the school year. For example, carnivals, fairs, massage tables de-stress day, ect. Since it is a Catholic school it helped me regain my hope and faith.
Bang for the buck
I do have to say that this college is pricey but it is worth every cent. I am very pleased of going here. I honestly do not see myself at another college. But if you decide to go here make sure that if your major is what you really want, especially for nursing students. The nursing program is very competitive. It will be sad if all of your hard work and money goes down the drain because you want to change majors. I had a difficult time my first semester of school. For that reason, on my second semester i dedicated myself to school only. Once i received my acceptance for the nursing program I knew that all that work and money was worth it.
Tips for prospective students
Make sure to stay on top of your things especially financial deadlines or else there will be fees to pay.
Get to know your professors; go to their office hours.
Get involved.
For pre-nursing students:
Make sure to get good grades, especially on your science classes. so take advantage of all the sources you have to accomplish that.
Great for these types of students
Nursing
Physical Therapy
Biology/ any other science
Liberal arts
Any hardworking student

Will learn a lot
Class sizes are small. You will get a lot of personal attention. This helps you from falling behind.
Will enjoy being here
There are so many activities to participate in with the community, city, and other attendees. There are movie nights, trips to shows throughout the city and even museum visits.
Bang for the buck
MSMC is pricey. As I said above though, there are tons of activities to get involved in and class sizes are small and you will get a lot of personal attention.
Tips for prospective students
Be sure to make all deadlines and always call MSMC directly if you have any confusion about them.
Great for these types of students
Driven, hardworking, focussed students are most likely to excel here.

Mount st. Mary's has amazing professors that care about the students .
ALL the staff members are amazing they are the very TOP best staff!
They don't help financially I am having a hard time right now.
Tips for prospective students
Always do your best it doesn't matter hoe hard it is because at the end it will all be worth it !
Bang for the buck
I would wish that all the students start applying to scholarships because it's very hard getting additional help from the school.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
Every time we see each other we have to look up and say hi to each other.
Great for these types of students
People interested in actually having a strong focus in school.

Its a small college that allows you to actually get to know your professors and peers. You become a part of the Mount community that strives to meet the needs of the students. There is always someone there to help you out, either academic-wise, socially, and even economically.
Tips for prospective students
Don't worry about your first day here; you if your are lost just ask around and people will direct you where you have to go. The teachers here are also very, very, awesome, and they really do care whether you pass their class. Don't buy the books if you can - rent them - it actually helps save money. Also if you didn't get into a class, and its closed, you can always go on the first day of class, and most of the professors let you join their class. Try to befriend upperclassmen. They will know what teacher are out to get you, and what classes are a piece of cake. Go on ratemyprofessor.com to see what reviews professors have gotten - it actually does help you in choosing your classes. Some classes, you wont really need a book, you will depend on the PowerPoint slides that the professor makes, so ask around and find out what the other students that have take that class say.
Academic Rigor
The GE's are really easy to pass. The professors expect you to do your readings, and stay on track of the syllabus. Stay on top of your readings, and GO TO CLASS EVERYDAY!!!! Attendance does count, and it goes as part of your grade. They try to help you understand, but if you are struggling, we have a learning center where you can get a tutor - GO! it really does make a difference getting help from someone. Overall, the classes are easy as long as you do your part study, do homework, etc.
Dorm Life
I am a commuter so I'm not sure what they Dorm life is like, but fro what i have heard, everyone is nice, and people who live here have it easy, given that their classes are a couple of meters away. There are always some activities/ festivities for the residents . Rooms are fairly big, and the view from the rooms is incredible since Chalon is on a mountain - literally.
Food and Dining
Their food is good. Not much of a variety, but it does taste good. They have the menu online showing what they are going to give for the week. a couple of things don't change, like the burgers, but beside that, everyday there is something different. And a fun thing is that they sometimes hold events like Chef wars where the chefs compete and make something. The students are the judges and they pick which dish is good. The also have a cafe, where they make smoothies, frappes, tea and hot drinks - not much of a variety, but its still good.
What to do for fun
They have a stop trans. Its like a shuttle that takes you to specific location, such as the mall, or the promenade in Santa Monica, or restaurants, and even stores. So you can leave campus, and breath a bit away from all the studying. Also Leadership and Student Programing and Commuter Services, ALWAYS has fun events where there is free food, and arts and crafts type of things. Those event are fun to go to.
Bang for the buck
Rent your books if you can. I recommend Chegg.com
Campus Safety
You will always feel safe here. there is security personnel on Campus all the tinme

Wonderful student body, beautiful campus, just a really great place to be! It's really great to be a student here if you like a small school with individualized attention, and a low profile social scene. A calming environment.
Tips for prospective students
There's a few things about MSMC that you should consider before coming here: it's a very small school, so you pretty much know everyone. It's great academically because you can form strong relationships with your professors. Also, if you're looking for a great social scene, this is not the school. If you want to party, most girls go off campus. And an all girls school really isn't that bad, it's pretty fun because there's no boys to impress. If you want a typical college experience, don't come here. But personally, I love the school for what it is. I feel at home and comfortable with the Mount.
Academic Rigor
If you don't study, you're screwed. It may be easy to get in, but it's very difficult academically, and you need to keep on top of your work. I never knew what studying was before I started college!
Dorm Life
I don't live on campus. I commute
Food and Dining
The food is good, but it may get sicking like every other college campuses food.
Bang for the buck
You are paying to finish in four years, have personalized attention, and a really beautiful environment to study in. Totally worth the price tag!
Campus Safety
Security is always around. You are always safe!
