I learned how it is to be on your own and how different it is to be away from the people who you used to depend on the most when you were back at home. I learned a lot about how to manage time and money because being a student living on campus can be very expensive and of time's essence. You have to learn to make time to have fun because you have to stay so focused on doing homework and meeting deadlines. I learned educationally as well.     niu is a wonderful university where people go to focus on academics in various fields leading to promising career paths. the university has made upgrades to their gym, dorms and cafeterias making this a top illinois university.

    niu is my hometown school. i am a non-scholarship student athlete currently attending. academically and athletically this university has everything to offer. athletes are involved not only in athletics, but community service as well. the professors and resources at the university are top notch.

    I love the way this campus makes you feel at home. The engineering students are great to talk to and from everything they have said they love to work together to help each other reach their potential. I really hope I will be able to go straight to a 4 year because this is the place I want to go.

    Northern Illinois University is a pretty good school with a lot of good opportunities. It's kind of surrounded by cornfields, but it's close enough to Chicago to get away from that. It's been a great experience so far.

    It is a welcoming campus with a lot to offer. As a first generation student there are a ton of resources for incoming freshman. There is also a bunch of centers for students who need help for their first year in college.

    It's what you make it. College is fun but you have to stay focus and get everything you need accomplish. Also make sure grades stay on point and make sure financial aid knows your name and face .
