NMU is all about being outdoors. For fun we hike, swim, ski, anything. There’s lots of snow so snowshoeing and cross country skiing are big. In addition to outdoor activities, hockey games are the place to be on Friday and Saturday nights. Overall, NMU and Marquette are great places to unwind after a hard day of classes.

Join extracurricular activities! Campus is only 5 or 6 blocks from the lake and there's lots of hiking within a few miles radius!

Every Saturday and Sunday night, Campus Cinema plays movies that aren't in theaters anymore, but haven't came out on DVD yet. Different halls hosts annual events throughout the school year and there is always an interesting speaker/performer coming to campus. If you want to get off campus, you can always hike Sugarloaf or Hogsback, go to the beach, or go have a bonfire with some friends. You can always find some type of adventure in the UP!

There's so much to do in Marquette. There are on campus events almost everyday and if not you can go down to Lake Superior or up to Marquette Mountain. Marquette is a college town, but with a homey feel.

At Northern, there is so much to do. In the fall, there's Presque Isle, swimming in Lake Superior, jumping off of Black Rocks (Do at your own risk), etc. Any time of the year you can take a hike up Sugarloaf or Hogsback (Do at your own risk in the winter). There is a drag show you can go to, which is very popular. They have concerts every year. This semester was Rodney Atkins. Last year, they had Phillip Phillips. The one thing that I find the best is the hockey games. Hockey is big at Northern. If you don't like it when you start college, you will most likely learn to like it.
