While classes can be big at any University, Oklahoma State is freshman friendly. As a freshman, you're bound to have some classes getting as big as 300 students and as small as 10-25, but despite the large difference, every single one of my professors was easily accessible if i needed help in their class. Either by email, phone number (some proffs give out personal contact numbers in small classes), or going by there office to talk to them one on one.

Not only this are college professors easy to stay in contact with at oklahoma state, but part of your tuition covers free tutors for any subject matter. And if your an engineering major like i am, you are guarenteed one-on-one tutors for mathematics, chemistry, biology, physics, and any other science class.

Oklahoma State also offers a writing center for proof reading essays, helping you with research projects, correcting mistakes you may have made, or if you're just terrible at writing essays (like i am), they can help you improve in your writing ability. They also help you with writing your resume for a prospective job.

Oklahoma State is encompassed by 'The college atmosphere'. On the week days campus is busy, people are everywhere either rushing to class, or just hanging out on the library lawn. The lawn is huge. Alot of people like to go out there and throw a frisbee around, slack line, take a nap in the sun, or just sit and talk amongst friends.

During the weekends the parties are great, always something to do it seems like. The hot spot on thursdays is going to the Tumble Weed (a country club) and attached to it is Tremors (a hip-hop club). So rather your a country fan or a hip-hop fan, thats always fun. I hate country and i still go.
Bang for the buck
The Colvin Center is recreation center at Oklahoma State. Its one of the top 10 in the country. It offers a huge gym consisting of free weights and just about every machine you would ever need. It also has i think 4 or 5 basketball courts, an outdoor and indoor swimming pool, running track, virtual golf, a rock climbing wall (a big hit- you can either climb when you want, or take a class), racket ball, table tennis, and more. They also offer free aerobic or martial art classes for any student.

Education - for an agriculture major, engineering major, or hotel restaurant and Management major, Oklahoma State is a great college for you to go to. Especially if you live in oklahoma with the instate tuition. Oklahoma State has the lowest instate tuition in the Big 12.
Tips for prospective students
Get involved in something, it keeps you focused.

Rather you drink or not, you will probably get carried away with the idea that you are away from your parents for 9 months (like i did), but as long as you make the grades and attend class during the week you'll be fine.

Use all the free services Oklahoma State offers you. If you need help in a class, financial aid, depression, sickness, or anything else, there is someone you can go to.
Great for these types of students
Engineering Students, Agriculture Students, or HRAD Students. Or just any one in the Big-12 Area whose just wants to have fun.

The teaching staff here are great, and if you do need that little extra bit of help there are many many resources for group or individual tutoring or studying help. In addition, there are so many great programs and opportunities for students to get involved academically both on campus and off of it.
Am enjoying being here
I am really enjoying being here. There are so many clubs, programs, and opportunities to get involved in on campus.
Bang for the buck
Definitely worth the price. The opportunities are top notch and the dedication of the teachers is great. Lots of learning for a relatively small price.
Great for these types of students
Anyone interested in becoming a veterinarian should definitely check this school out. There are so many opportunities and programs for undergrads to get involved with the vet school here.

I learned so much my first semester at Oklahoma State! The professors were very willing to help if asked and they have scheduled office hours which you can go to to review before a test or get help on the homework. The teaching assistants were nice and helpful, hard to understand at times, but very knowledgeable. There are multiple learning centers where students are hired to review essays and paper, check homework, or help with pre-labs or just anything that comes to mind!

I love being at OSU! The campus hardly seems crowed, except on game days, and to get from one edge of campus to another takes about 15 minutes if you keep a steady pace, but watch out for the bikes! I have found many friends by going potluck with roomates and joining a service sorority. There are many diverse groups and clubs on campus and they will definitly have one to suit your interests. Dining options are the best: the campus has everything from a bakery to Which Wich and Chick-Fil-A. Even if you live on the edge of campus like I do, there is a place inside the dormitory to eat.
Bang for the buck
While room and board is a little bit on the pricey side, OSU is the best buy in the big 12, so says the OkState homepage. Where you live on campus determines how much you pay a month. Meal plan is a great deal for freshmen! However, you do have a minimum of $1000 a semester your first year. Meal plan can be spent at any place that sells food including the markets. With the fees that you pay it includes the gym (which is top notch), all of the computer labs and printers (if you have your own printer great.. but you already pay for the ink in the school ones), lab fees depending on your schedule and upkeep of the sidewalks and reconstruction of the buildings.
Tips for prospective students
Make sure and get a tour of campus before you decide to go to OSU. It is the one thing I regret not doing. It really influences your housing decsion later on, trust me, I do a LOT of walking. The Freshmen Fifteen is not a myth: I gained it but lost it all again because of all the great fitness classes that are included in the fees. The library is open 24hrs a day during finals week for a reason.. STUDY. Stillwater has two Wal Marts and some shopping like American Eagle and The Buckle. While the town is really spread out, there is stuff to do either on campus or off like the movie theater or the Tumbleweed. The safety on campus is getting better: more lights have been installed in parking lots but the buddy system is the best way to go at night. You can't drive to class but there is a bus system call BOB (big orange bus) and its super handy!
Great for these types of students
Great for laid back students but also ones that want to be involved and socially active. If you are a big studier there are tons of nooks to hide out in and study your heart out.

My first year at OSU has been a true learning experience, both inside and outside of the classroom. Courses at OSU provide stimulating opportunities to not only learn about the subject of the class, but to learn about your own strengths and weaknesses as an individual in this amazing student body. There are several members of the staff and, of course, fellow students, who are willing to take time out of their schedules in order to help you learn more about your experience at OSU, such as what courses you should take in the future or where you can find the closest copy machine from any location on campus. No matter what the question is, someone on campus has the answer you're looking for.
Am enjoying being here
OSU is the perfect setting for a fulfilling college experience, and Stillwater acts an amazing backdrop to such an amazing university. Many of the students and faculty are very friendly, and are willing to meet new people. There are numerous on-campus organizations that offer a spot for new students, and since the size of the university reflects the size of the organization, you will feel more than welcome when you first walk into the room. The residence halls also provide outlets for you to meet other students who will ultimately become your new friends that you relate to. The city of Stillwater also contributes to any student's needs, whether you want to enjoy a large group event at Eskimo Joe's or a quiet outing to Aspen coffee. With so many opportunities, no one will ever feel out of place here at Oklahoma State.
Bang for the buck
Although the cost may seem too outrageous for some students, OSU accommodates to the financial needs of their students. They give out numerous scholarships for all types of students, and work to help find the right option for your finances. You will get your money's worth here at OSU; the courses are phenomenal, and the campus gives plenty of opportunities for you to feel at home. Choosing to come to Oklahoma State University will be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life.
Tips for prospective students
Tap into all of your resources. OSU offers several student resources for you to utilize in your education throughout the years. Not only are there groups to help you study, such as the tutors in the Math Learning Center and the specialized student mentors in the Student Union, but there are opportunities to talk to students and faculty to find out what the right path is to your future plans. Grab up the daily O'Colly to keep up with the happenings on campus; it's a free newspaper put out by the school, and it serves as a great tool to find scholarship offerings, off-campus housing, and special promotions put on just for college students. There are also several free events put on by students that you can enjoy, and you won't drain your bank account trying to find something to do on a free night from studying.
Great for these types of students
All types of students will find their niche here at Oklahoma State University. From agriculture majors, to fashion design majors, there are plenty of opportunities to expand your social circle and your knowledge about the subject you've come here to study.

Am learning a lot
During the fall semester of my freshman year most of my classes where the very basic classes like college algebra, comp 1, biology, and history. However, I did learn quite a lot in these classes. I have just started the spring semester of my freshman year and I am finally getting into my major as an athletic trainer. I had very little knowledge of athletic training before I entered college. I am learning that my major has so many more components to it. In addition, I am learning so much about Oklahoma as a whole.
Am enjoying being here
Like most teenagers I could not wait to leave my parent's place and live on my own. The campus here in Stillwater is so beautiful and the people here are so kind and inviting. More than anything, I love all the school spirit. OSU student are passionate about their school and are not afraid to show their support. However, there are a few cons about living here like becoming homesick and having to deal with loud and crazy students after big school events. But other than that I really enjoy being here.
Bang for the buck
Having to pay out of state tuition can really add up but OSU is a excellent school and it is worth the price tag. All the academic programs that are offered at OSU are successful thanks to the wonderful and committed professors. The price is worth it because without question you will get a quality education. OSU is the best bang for my buck and I am glad I came here for school.
Tips for prospective students
One tip I would give prospective students would be to visit campus at least once. I ended up visiting OSU two times before I made up my mind. Another tip would be to do your homework and get all the information you need before making and major decisions. For example, research where all the eating places are located and then pick where you want to live accordingly. Finally, invest in a good pair of tennis shoes because unless you are lucky enough to have a car you will be walking everywhere.
Great for these types of students
OSU is a good option for any type of student. OSU has the best of both worlds because it is a major university but it has a small town feel to it. There is a diverse group of students here so everybody will have someone to relate with.

You can take easy classes and learn nothing if you want but hard, challenging and useful classes are definitely available to those that seek them.
Am enjoying being here
As a sophomore I feel at home here, but that's only because I am in Greek life and live in the Villages on campus. When I wasn't Greek and when I lived in Kerr I didn't feel at home at all.
Bang for the buck
It's very cheap for academically strong students.
Tips for prospective students
Get a high ACT score to maximize scholarship opportunities.
Great for these types of students
Partiers, Greeks, business, engineers, vet med, elementary education.

Oklahoma State University is an amazing place to live. The second I stepped on campus the current students and the staff made me feel like I was at home. The faculty is always friendly and willing to work with you, allowing you to have a successful college experience.
Tips for prospective students
Do not hesitate to get help when you need it! The staff loves to help you out and they truly want to see you succeed.
The Writing Center and The MLRC (Math Help Lab) are amazing and have helped me do great on assignments.
Dorm Life
The dorms are a lot of fun! I live in community and it is a great experience. I have met a ton of people and have had the opportunity to be the president of the floor. The experience with many people improves your people skills and allows you to work on leadership skills.
Food and Dining
The food here is by no means home cooking BUT it is very good and is served in a timely manner, allowing you to get to where you need to be. They offer a ton of nutritional foods and when shopping for nutritious food the make it easy with orange stickers on the healthy choices, which are plentiful.
What to do for fun
I get a group of friends together and we take a break from the stress of studying and go to the Colvin Rec. Center, which is on campus and available to all students living on campus. They have pretty much every piece of equipment you can imagine to work out on as well as classes in dance, zumba(one of my favorites) and tons of others.

I certainly succeeded in school. In the science classes, because I took AP classes in high school, the classes seemed right at home to me. The library is open 24/7 during finals week, and students can use the many computers or study rooms daily. I definitely feel smarter and have learned more about health professions and politics than I would normally.
Am enjoying being here
The football games are incredible. In high school I could care less about sports, NFL, school, and definitely not college. At the campus tour, I told my dad I would never want to go to the games. hether winning or losing, the school has cheers that rock the stadium. Everyone decks out in orange and on game days the bell tower plays the alma mater every hour. When it gets close to Christmas, the bell tower plays Christmas music, and the cultural day, where all of the international students cook the foods from their countries, is phenomenal. The greek life has fun activites to go to weekly, whether free dinners at the houses, dance offs, homecoming pomping, fashion shows, movie nights, or philanthropic events.
Bang for the buck
I applied to many of my in state colleges and I ended up going here for the scholarships I did receive that cut out 10,000 out of each year's tuition. The school has very cheap but excellent health services. I got the flu once and walked straight in to the health center, only had to pay 12 bucks and a prescription for ten bucks. I saved more money there than at my personal doctor at home.
Tips for prospective students
Apply for as many scholarships as possible. The alumni scholarship doesn't apply if you live out of state. The four room apartments are nice, but for the price, my friends feel they are missing out on dorm life. If you want to feel immersed in campus activities, greek life is the way to go.
Great for these types of students
Spirited, humble, outgoing, people who want to feel like they live in the suburbs, students interested in cultural diversity, AP students, engineers- chemical or mechanical, teachers, undecided, and football fans.

The professors here are wonderful and the actually care about your success in their classes.

I LOVE living here at Oklahoma State! Everyone is so kind and willing to lend a helping hand or give you directions if you get a little lost at OSU's gorgeous Georgian-style campus. There are constantly activities, plays, and recitals for students to attend. Don't forget about football games either; and Oklahoma State has the largest Homecoming in the nation!
Tips for prospective students
My #1 tip for a prospective student? Visit campus and make sure to attend a football game...that is when you will really feel the Cowboy spirit! Also, check out the Colvin Center, the University's 4 story workout facility. During your visit, stop and talk to some current students, we love to share about Oklahoma State.
Great for these types of students
Anyone and everyone fit in here at OSU. Campus and the surrounding community of Stillwater provide the perfect balance of city and nightlife with a small town atmosphere that will make any prospective student feel right at home.

At Oklahoma State University there is such a broad range of classes and topics to choose to study and everywhere you turn you're learning something new. Class sizes are small enough for you to not feel like just another person in a seat, and the professors and teaching assistants really do want to help you learn and succeed in the class.
Am enjoying being here
I have never been to a place where people are so friendly and really do want you to be there and have a great day. Within the first few months I established a really close group of friends containing not just freshman, but people from all levels of their education that have been able to also help and guide me through my time here at OSU. I love this place and really can't imagine being anywhere else.
Bang for the buck
If paying out of state touition, it can quickly get pretty expensive, but it is 100% worth it. Everything that your money goes to is of high quality and it makes living at OSU that much better.
Tips for prospective students
The first thing is to get involved! Find organizations on campus that fit your interest and show up even if you do not know anyone else going- plus there is normally free food at the first couple meetings :) Next, be friendly and on the first day when everyone is awkwardly sitting there not talking to each other before classes start, reach out to the person next to you and say hi and introduce yourself. This allows you to know people's names, and make a good impression on others.
Great for these types of students
I would not say that OSU is right for everyone, but if it does fit you than you're going to love it. OSU has a small town feel because it's set in the middle of Stillwater, so you must be OK with only having 2 Walmart's in your town and NO Targets.... for those of you that can't live without Target, OSU should not be your first pick. An outgoing and fun personality is not required, but if you don't come with one I'm almost guaranteed that you'll leave with it!
