    Campus Safety

there are buttons in the classroom to call security. recently there have been meetings about the school shootings that have happened, and they have developed new plans based on what has been happening. i was in a school shooting, and i feel like they really care about what happens in their school. they have had drills, and informational meetings on what they have been doing to keep the school safe.

Great for these types of students

This school is great for new or returning college students. If you want some more help with how to transition into college, or do not remember your algebra two, oregon coast will be a great fit.

    Bang for the buck

The placement test can help a lot. If you can get into all accredited classes, that will help. At this college, you can do dual enrollment with universities which can save you money through the transfer degree. There are a lot of scholarships available here. They have a whole list of scholarships available in the commons, help on monthly budgets, fasfa how to's and tutoring jobs.

    What to do for fun

There is a frisby park, hiking and dog park on campus. The beach is really close to the college, and glass blowing is right down the street. The aquarium is very close to college as well.

    Food and Dining

I really have not had any food there. I know there are lots of vending machines, and the student store offers lunch. there are barbecues as well that are thrown every time there are student meetings.

    Dorm Life

There are no provided dorms. There are several activities to do with the college though. It is more of a "family life" feel where there is a dog park, and some clubs like the honor society. If you get on the email list, you will be notified about scholarships, activities like the beach clean ups, and how to survive term tips.

    Academic Rigor

It's alright. this college is a really good starter school. They will work with you to help you get through school. If you are shaky on how to work with finances, or are new to college, and want a smoother transition into college from high school. I recommend this college to start learning how to work with college curriculum.

    Tips for prospective students

There are tutors at the campus that can be really helpful. Lincoln City campus and Newport (really south beach) offer different things, so look at both of them before making any decisions about moving. Since it is a small school, classes are normally offered once, so keep that in mind when scheduling.

    In three sentences

This is a good small college. There are a lot of good classes, and more classes available through PCC. The counselors are helpful, and community is rather close.

Great for these types of students

Working full-time (online classes); high school students (dual enrollment with the cost of community college paid for by the school district).

    Bang for the buck

Great way to get two years of college out of the way while working or attending high school at a much lower cost than university. That means that it will be a lot easier to afford my bachelor's degree.

    Food and Dining

No opinion--I think there is a snack bar of some sorts.

    Academic Rigor

Some of the teachers/professors have really high standards. You will not feel like you can just skate by!

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure you talk to staff, advisors, etc. instead of just thinking you can do it on your own. They will help! Whether is it information about financial aid, tutoring, no matter what--ask.

    In three sentences

Great little local school in an area with limited resources. Staff is committed and professional. Everyone is very supportive of the students so they can succeed.

    Bang for the buck

This is a great school to get the classes done that you have to do anyways, the classes are smaller and way cheaper than a standard four year institute.

    What to do for fun

Honestly, it's a community college, there really isn't anything besides school.

    Tips for prospective students

    Don't procrastinate on your homework.

    In three sentences

The Oregon Coast Community College is a great school. I really like how small the classes are which makes them more one on one with the teacher student relationship.

    Clubs and Activities

Psychology club, surf club, and more I'm sure but I don't participate.

Great for these types of students

Students who like small classes, the wilderness, the ocean and the beach would like this school.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Campus has a Frisbee golf course and a hiking trail

    Bang for the buck

My high school has paid for all of my supplies so far.

    What to do for fun

    Clubs, Frisbee golf, surf club

    Food and Dining

No dining necessarily. There is a small store on campus with healthy things to choose from.

    Dorm Life

    No dorms on campus

    Academic Rigor

I progress in the areas I'm taught in.

    Tips for prospective students

    1. Work on your essay writing skills 2. Pay attention to your calender for class 3. Don't be afraid to ask questions 4. Keep track of your stuff 5. Prioritize, don't procrastinate

    In three sentences

I'm able to use the resources easily and everyone is very helpful which I appreciate. It's a small school but I like the idea of having small classes because you can get more one- on- one time with your professor. The campus is close to home and my job so attending would be very convenient for me.

    What to do for fun

Go to the dog park with a few friends on a sunny day is quite enjoyable. You can also drive a few minutes to hit the beach or the bay front.

    Food and Dining

No cafeteria, but there is an on campus mini-store that sells a small variety of food and drinks. Price is a little high, though.

    Dorm Life

There really isn't an on-campus dorm, but there is a housing section near the college. I do not know how much they cost, but they are cute! There is a dog park right in front of the college, too.

    Academic Rigor

The writing classes I have been in recognize that college students should be able to pump out papers every week. Some papers are harder to write than others, but some are very difficult! Make sure to study for exams ahead of time to get the knowledge engraved into your brain!

    Tips for prospective students

Meet with the guidance counselor early and sign up for classes when you can. Classes are on a first come, first serve basis. Make sure to do your homework on time! Try to be early for class, as the professors start lecturing right when class begins. OCCC is very close to the beach and the bay front, which are both very beautiful places!

    In three sentences

Oregon Coast Community College is a nice, fun place near the coast. The staff there are all very friendly and go out of their way to make sure you are having a good education. OCCC has several clubs and very good nursing as well as aquarium science programs!
