Upcoming college students, if you're still in high school then I can not stress how important it is to get in the A+ program. The little amount of effort that has to be put into the program is nothing compared to having your first 2 years of tuition and student fees paid for. A low GPA and a few tutoring hours can go a long way. Why pass up free college? OTC is great about helping its students though, example: This semester A+ announced it was cutting all of the students 1 credit hour (which sounds trite, but every expense is painful). OTC offered a scholarship for any who apply to cover the extra credit hour, and every student that applied received the money. Another word advice, if your school offers dual credit and AP courses. Take them. This will set you much further along on your college path than you realize, and is a good introduction into the academic level of community college. Finally, participate in some extra curriculars and do some volunteering. More importantly keep track of all the time spent doing these activities. Not doing them will return to bite you in the butt. Most importantly, stay calm, take a deep breath, and enjoy the ride. College is a fun experience. Much better than high school.

Physically go into an office and talk to a counselor there-even if you're not sure of a major. They are great about helping you get started, outlining the application steps, and getting you set up. Start taking a wide variety of classes if you're not sure what direction you want to go-eventually you'll find a niche and it will just click.

I would tell a prospective student to definitely at least think about coming to Ozarks Technical Community College. It is very affordable and a very good education, just as good as a big expensive college like Drury. So why not save money? I would at least come check it out and take a tour. Who knows you may really like it and have your mind set right then.
