Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center is a renowned tertiary care center, a level I trauma center (the region's only such center for adults and children), a teaching hospital and a medical school (with the first Humanities Department in the Nation), where one quaint campus provides all the necessary resources for students to learn humanistic medicine, alongside specializing physicians, with mentors who teach beyond the books and ahead of the curve.

A serendipitous geographical equilibrium, between proximity to major metropolitan areas and rural land available for development, probably helped land Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center among the 100 Best Places to Work in Healthcare.

In my five years as a student researcher, I was most astonished by the facility's enthusiasm for their work, and their willingness to teach.
Tips for prospective students
Ask questions and get an internship here. There are teachers everywhere.
Dorm Life
Where else can you study medicine and have access to all the resources a student could dream of utilizing, work on a safe rural campus, and walk five minutes to your campus apartment?
Food and Dining
Hershey has quite a few restaurants and bars.

Sorrento's is about three blocks from the most distant campus housing. It has pizza / subs on the left side, Italian fine dining on the right side, and a bar in the middle where you can have dinner and beers while watching a game.

Hershey Hotel has amazing food, but it's so pricey that special occasion may be a prerequisite.
What to do for fun
Ski Roundtop Mountain Resort - 45 minutes
You'll find typical northeast skiing in the winter, and Go-Balls with ropes courses in the summer.

Lancaster City - First Friday - 40 minutes
On the first Friday of every month all of the art galleries open, so you can walk Gallery Row while bouncing off your choice of bars, quick snacks, coffee shops, and fine dining. Live music can be found in many of the the venues. In the summer, live music is outside in center square and street performers can be found bopping around the main streets.

Harrisburg City - 20 minutes
This area was hopping five years ago, but crime has become a big problem. I wouldn't walk on the streets at night alone.

Hershey Park + Chocolate World - 10 minutes
This is an amusement park like Six Flags, and there's a zoo inside. In chocolate world toucan see how Hershey makes chocolate and learn about the chocolate company's history.

Hershey Spa - 10 minutes
This is a full service spa. It's pricey, like I would go to a nail salon for a quick pedicure, but if you have the funds (or a visiting mother with the funds) for an afternoon here... you will be blown away.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
Wild Onions
A collection of art and poetry, submitted mostly by faculty and staff but open to patients.
Great for these types of students
Cooperative learning > Competitive learning
Campus Safety
They won't hesitate to offer help, or give you parking tickets.
