It is not a partying school but here you can find different alternatives to fun although you can decide to do other things when you are not on campus. Anyways you're in California there's bound to be something exciting to do!

Not much in the surrounding Malibu area, unfortunately, though students with cars often go out on weekends to explore L.A. or Santa Monica. There's a Regal theatre about a mile away from the school and the Pacific Coast Highway has beach all along it for people who like surfing or just hanging out on the sand. Campus Recreation leads several hiking and camping trips around the year (such as to Yosemite or Joshua Tree park) for free or really discounted prices. The student programming board also hosts a variety of fun activities on campus not limited to movie screenings, breakfast for dinner, poetry/fiction readings, and monthly improv shows and Coffee Houses (student music performances).

The Board is wonderful at their job at providing entertainment for the students of Pepperdine. Each month when you receive their newsletter, I advise you sign up for as much as you want but do it quickly at the HAWC.

Go to the beach, or go out to LA.

GO TO THE BEACH! The beach is about a 15 minute walk from campus or a 5 minute drive to the Malibu Lagoon or Ralph's Beach. Most people go to Zuma beach though which is about a 20 minute drive north on PCH. Head into LA. When there's no traffic, LA is only a half hour away and there are endless things to do there. Hang out in Santa Monica. The pier is fun (ride the feris wheel, roller coaster, or play carnival games) and 3rd street has great shopping options. Go for a hike. Pepperdine students are very active and there are lots of group hikes set up by Campus Rec throughout the semester, along with fun camping trips.

Pepperdine is literally right up the street from the beach which is great for study breaks. Santa Monica and Los Angeles are not too far off for a night in the city. There are also great hiking trails and restaurants around the area.

If you want to stay close, there are multiple beaches and hikes, as mentioned, to take a part in. The Campus Recreation Office organizes camping and backpacking trips for students to take advantage of. Also, one can drive through the canyon to go to restaurants or head over to Santa Monica to experience the Santa Monica Pier, Third Street Promenade, and other famous locations.

The Board, which is like high school's ASB but with 10 times more funds, offers great opportunities to have fun. They put together Blue and Orange Madness and 2 concerts for students. This year Gavin Degraw performed. They have had free trips to Color Me Mine and Rosco's. This is just the tip of the ice berg. There are sometimes parties, off campus of course (know that Pepperdine is a dry campus), but you'll have to get a hold of a Greek life person to know when and where. There's always the beach, 5 minutes away. Santa Monica is at the end of PCH, and LA even further South. Both are great options but sometimes a hassle because it's so far away.
