If you are going to Ringling there isn't much time for fun. Going to the beach on occasion (and by occasion, I mean only a handful of times over 4 years), or going to Growlers (bar across the street from the school).

If you have time for fun, Sarasota is a pretty fun town. There's also clubs on campus, parties, and events.

If you're a CA, the release of a feature animated movie means a huge exodus of sweaty animation nerds--lots of fun. Otherwise, we don't get out much (if you're doing your job). Eventually work becomes fun, and you must convince yourself of that so you don't lose motivation. From what I've seen/heard about the things happening at other colleges, our social lives by comparison are dismal.

When I visited the campus, I came across a handful of clubs and organizations that existed, some were even tailored for people of a certain major. These clubs bring students with similar interests closer together, which makes for a rewarding social experience.

There are plenty of clubs and recreational activities to participate in, not to mention a neighboring college right down the road if your fellow classmates aren't to your taste. The school also has it's own museum (as well as other museums, such as the classic car museum) right next door, a beach, and plenty of shops and restaurants close by.

It's Sarasota. Not much. Go to the beach--Siesta isn't too far. St. Armands circle is fun for about a week, but it's very touristy.

Sarasota is a rather dull place, but Ringling has a partnership with the local bus company meaning that you get free transport any where you like, meaning downtown is just a 15 minute bus ride away.
