Part of being a Software Engineering major means spending a year with Computer Science students learning the basics of computer programming. When I first came to RIT, I knew nothing about writing code but the classes challenged and taught me well and now I feel that I am fully prepared to begin my major. RIT does a good job of preparing you for the classes that matter. You'll be able to get your math, liberal arts and sciences out of the way early so that you can get to the good stuff and excel in your major!

If you're looking for an enriching college experience, RIT is the school you want to attend. I originally came for their career orientation and have been so grateful to be among such diversity. Sometimes it seems that you don't fit in if you're not an engineering or computer science student, but there are plenty of opportunities for everyone!

On a scale from 1 to 10, RIT ranks 8 for being very accepting to all students because the campus is so diverse: combining deaf and hearing students, and supporting many different student interests. On a scale from 1 to 10, RIT is a 9 with its academics because even though it is a technical school known for its engineering, it also has a strong liberal arts program and NTID program. On a scale from 1 to 10, RIT food services is a 4 because the main dining hall serves the exact same food and the hours and distance for the other meal options play a factor in deciding were to eat on campus.

Most of the courses will challenge you but that is because RIT has a high reputation. The required co-ops are extremely important in ensuring your success in your field. RIT really pushes you to excel in what you do and, if you are driven, you will leave the college being highly successful.

Obviously a very tech oriented university, the majority of students are here for technology/engineering majors and the programs offered are very good, with lots of help from the faculty. There are many clubs to join, from athletic clubs to gaming clubs, you'll be sure to find a club that suits your interests. There are also things to do every week, the College Activities Board at RIT is always offering events such as Thursday movie nights.

RIT is a comfortable yet challenging place to go to college. You get into the grove of the college life within a couple of days and can feel the RIT culture becoming a part of you very quickly. However, it stays true to its reputation of providing rigorous and fulfilling education that you can tell you are going to use in your future.

This school give immeasurable potential in employment opportunities. The co-op system is killer, and the support of the school has always been around. If you want a great school that will help you get a great job particularly in the fields of computing sciences, mechanical engineering, and photography- this is the school for you.
