My biggest tip is to talk to your advisors, teachers, tutors, and fellow classmates. I know it's hard to come to a new place and have to be open to people, but even from just saying 'hi' to some, I have felt more comfortable around them and the school. Even asking about the weather can open up myriad points of conversation. Talking to your teachers by going to their office hours helps you get ahead in the class and so does talking to your classmates. Tutors are always available and are so willing to help. Advisors are ready to help you plan your academic plan to help you succeed. Do not be afraid to just say "hi".

Get involved and don't be a drive-through student, taking a class and driving immediately home. Clubs and organizations will make you friends and help you belong, and hopefully will help you never doubt whether going to school is right for you. If you're ever having trouble always, always, always talk to your professors. They want to help you way more than you realize.
