Don't come here. The administration at this institution is deplorable. Living conditions: unacceptable. There's food poisoning that leads to hospital visits; there's mold, snakes, rodents, bugs, etc in the dorms; the floor in my room is bowing, no hot water, some faucets have dark water coming out, ineffective and inefficient systems of heating and air, plaster falling from ceilings, floors that can be so hot that they can melt the bottoms of shoes, etc. Programs and degrees at this school that aren't actually feasible (or really exist), INACCURATE information that's used in the museum and by admissions, such as the HISTORY OF SALEM COLLEGE, especially regarding the college's participation in slavery. Racial and prejudiced slurrs used by some students and faculty that has been left unpunished, no policy for transgender students (and the board is dragging out the decision process for building this policy), and yet-- two weeks after a peaceful sit-in, a new policy is emailed to all of the students about severe restrictions against demonstrations/protests. Students now have to "apply" to demonstrate, in designated spaces during designated times, registering the IDs of students who are participating. If anyone wants to see the documents involved in this issue, such as the call to action that was presented by the students (offering solutions to these problems), emails regarding administrative response to these events, and the document detailing the new demonstrations policy, let me know directly via email.

Small women's college with enthusiastic professors, but underwhelming administrative staff and hugely judgemental students (thus the anonymous). Very supportive atmosphere generated by professors and advisors, but limited in the way of academic offerings. Administrative staff very focused on attracting new students, but have no regard for current or graduated students.

Salem College is a small women's college where you can be more than just a number. The sense of sisterhood and support on campus is always present. Salem is a good place where students can get a quality liberal arts education on a beautiful historic campus.

Salem is a great school for people looking for small class sizes, strong relationships with your professors, and small college campus. You get to know everyone on campus and it is a beautiful place to live. I love it during the fall.

Salem College is a challenging but inviting atmosphere that urges her students to reach for their highest potentials while questioning their past assumptions. Women are the leaders on campus and inspire each other to success in academics, politics, activism, and arts. Each student who truly engages with Salem finds themselves a changed being.

Warm, welcoming, friendly and filled with history. Are some of the buildings really haunted? I did not see any ghosts. Salem is organized and focused on providing a world class education in a nurturing environment. The city of Winston Salem is officially titled as City of Arts and Technology. Reciprocal courses are available at Wake Forest College.

It is more like a boarding school than a college. If you are interested in greek life, this is not the place for you. You have to pledge at another college, WSSU if you want to do so.
