Am learning a lot
The professors here at Mesa are amazing!!! The professors and students alike are very helpful here. Academics are a major aspect of this college. If you want to go to a college where the students are friendly, the professors strict but helpful, many clubs and groups to choose from Mesa is it. Plus the weather is magnificent all year long!.
Am enjoying being here
I love Mesa college!!! I have taken both on-campus and on-line courses; both are wonderful. I can honestly say I have learned a great deal in the short time I have attended Mesa college.
Bang for the buck
Currently the cost is $26 dollars per unit, but Mesa offers a wide range of Financial Aid for those who qualify. With or without financial aid one receives help from incredible counselors who help one throughout one's academic career.
Tips for prospective students
On-line classes are terrific if one does not want to leave to house to study, plus if one owns a laptop one can study on-the-go!
Great for these types of students
Anyone! If there is anyone out there who likes encouragement come to Mesa! If you prefer to work through school yourself, come to Mesa! If you love great weather, people and professors, come to Mesa!

San Diego Mesa College has excellent opportunities to earn your degree in the sciences. They offer numerous programs and many options to finish your degree in a timely manner. The staff and faculty are very supportive.
Tips for prospective students
Take advantage of the programs offered as much as you can. Don't be afraid to as for additional resources if needed. Definitely get involved with clubs and or sports if you can.
Academic Rigor
The classes at San Diego Mesa College are very straight forward and well organized.. The professors are very supportive. Mesa also offers an Honors Program.
Dorm Life
I am not aware of any dorms at this time. However the housing is very plentiful in San Diego. Although there are no dorms at Mesa, the student services outreach office office can definitely point you in the right direction.
Food and Dining
There are many options at San Diego Mesa College. They have a food court in the Mesa Commons. They also have cafes through the campus and in close proximity of the college. There is also a Farmer's Market on the campus that is open to the general public and is free of charge for the items provided.
What to do for fun
Go to the beach of course! Take advantage of many Southern California attractions. (i.e.- Sea World, Disneyland, Lego land, Boomers!, Sea Life, Knott's Soak City and Knotts Berry Farms, The Museums, Art and Culture Shows. lastly Concerts. Go on city tours as well.
Bang for the buck
Just depends on the person and what they prefer to do. The pasta shops are reasonable. Public transportation is very reasonable. Outlet shopping save lots of money.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
Definitely the Farmer's Market! The transit center on campus. And lastly, the Allied Health Building that offers the opportunity to obtain a Bachelors Degree from Mesa as Well.
Great for these types of students
Support programs and tutoring for all students. Various programs for first year, low income, and international students.
Clubs and Activities
Mesa has numerous clubs for almost every interest. The sports programs and facilities are pretty good and they are very accessible. Commencement activities are also well organized and very accessible.
Greek Life
San Diego Mesa College is a community college so they have access to the lower division Greek life and honor societies.
Campus Safety
Very safe campus! With all the new upgrades within the San Diego Community District, they certainly provide a good presence of safety throughout their campuses. Mesa's public safety team is very visible at all times. I certainly feel safe when I am there!

Tips for prospective students
Once the schedule for the upcoming semester is up, plan your schedule! So when it's time for you to register you can simply add the classes that you already planned rather than looking at that time. Classes fill up FAST; you don't want to miss your chance!
Academic Rigor
In any course you take, no matter what school; you MUST attend class, do your work, and study to pass the class! Of course there will be classes that are much easier than others, but there are classes here that can kick your butt if you don't put in work! Don't underestimate this school just because it's a community college. Most of the professors here have PhD's so don't underestimate your professors intelligence either.
Dorm Life
There is no dorm life here; it is a community college. But there are surrounding neighborhoods that are quiet and many apartment complexes nearby. You are in between Convoy where there are a bunch of Asian markets and restaurants and right next to Mission Valley and Fashion Valley.
Food and Dining
Because of the location of the school, there are many nearby restaurants that in a very close proximity to the school. You have Convoy, Clairemont Mesa, Balboa Ave, Fashion Valley, Mission Valley, and even Linda Vista is nearby. There is a cafeteria at the school, they sell snacks in the bookstore, there is a Cafe in the Library, and another student store that sells sandwiches and other snacks in food inside. Also down the street is K Sandwiches, which is yummy and very affordable!
Clubs and Activities
There's a Student Affairs or Students Association at Mesa and there are also some clubs. I kind of wish there was more. But there are many activities like fairs and booths throughout the year; music and free stuff and food, which is always fun.
Greek Life
There are Greek organizations on campus, I am just not very familiar with them.
Campus Safety
It is very safe on Mesa College campus. The campus isn't too big so even at night I'm not very concerned. There are areas where you press a button to get a police officer to accommodate you and there are many police officers patrolling at night time.

Mesa College has great professors. They care about their students. The campus will look great when the construction is done.
Tips for prospective students
Parking is horrible so expect to get there an hour or so early for the first month. The food is okay but I like to bring my lunch.
Dorm Life
There are no dorms at this college.
Bang for the buck
I think for how much money you spend its a pretty good school.

Am learning a lot
I currently took C++ and C# programming classes from Mesa online, and I did learn a lot about programming and how bad I am at programming. But at the same time the teachers and students were helpful throughout the class.
Am enjoying being here
I'm just doing online classes to get some of my General education done so I can transfer to a fully online college and obtain my BS in Computer Science degree.
Bang for the buck
Its community college, if you do not want to spend the high cost of what a 4 year college and private colleges make you pay stick with a community college. Mesa is a part of the San Diego Community Colleges (City and Miramar are the other two). At the time of this post $26 per credit for local CA residents is a great deal to get your GE done and go for an AA and then transfer to a 4 year.
Tips for prospective students
Online colleges are great if you have a tight day and if you work full time like myself. If you go on campus, be sure to get there a bit early because parking can sometimes be limited. Overall the college is huge so you'll do a bit of walking.
Great for these types of students
Just about anyone who wants to work towards an AA or get their General Education done and transfer to a 4 year and not have to pay at lot of your General Education.
