I love San Francisco State because we get to live well within the borders of an amazingly beautiful and culturally diverse metropolitan city, while also being located on the outside enough that we don’t have to deal with the hussle and bustle of city sounds and traffic. Right in front of the school is the M-line Muni, a metro link car that takes you northeast into the city, hitting several districts of San Francisco you’d not want to miss. For example, it’s less than a 20 min ride on the Muni to the Castro district, where you can find everything from ecstatic LGBTQ+ culture to theatres and stores. A short walk or bus ride away is Dolores Park, a good sample of SF’s diverse population. At the park you’ll want to bring a blanket, a bottle of wine, some snacks, sunglasses and prepare to be entertained with the life and culture of SF around you. If you’re craving burritos or pupusas, there are several restaurants that run along the bordering streets. Thrift shops, smoke shops, cafes, and local businesses selling trinkets and must-haves are common attractions of the Castro and Mission districts. SF State has been the best decision for me because I’m constantly surround by things to do for fun, most of them free! It’s hard to live in a city like San Francisco as a college student, with it being the most expensive place to live in the U.S. right now, but it’s all worth it because there are plenty of activities surrounding you for free!

There are plenty of things to do for fun while attending SFSU. San Francisco is a great city with tons and tons of places to go and enjoy. There are plenty of beaches that are close by, one of which is walking distance. Getting to downtown San Francisco is only a Muni ride away. If you prefer to stay on campus there are a bunch of clubs that meet up weekly and there is also the Cesar Chavez Center which has an arcade, food court, and billiards rooms. There is never a dull moment on campus.

  • I am researching this school and have not visited the campus

Depends on personal preferences but in a city like San Francisco there is something for EVERYONE. The campus also offers tons of events, clubs, and activities.....check out the student recreation page and the clubs on the SFSU site.
