    Tips for prospective students

My husband, who is a disabled army Veteran, attended this school for two semesters. This school treated him like he was not good enough for them because he was disabled. He tried to explain to them that he couldn't stand on his feet for prolonged periods of time and the dean of students refused to make any accommodations for him and also repromanded him for not going to a class that required him to stand for hours on end. They dropped him from other classes he was taking wid-semester and later reenrolled him. The first semester they didn't give him his financial aid until the semester was over, due to "forgetting to write the check" as they told him. The next semester they decided not to report him as a student to the VA for half of the semester, so he couldn't get his GI Bill and they took his finacial aid to pay for the classes he was attending instead of the GI Bill paying them. After bringing this all to their attention, we found out that although taking his financial aid money and him attending classes for half the semester, he was not even in their system as a student. This school has caused so much hurt and stress to my husband and family. I fail to see how this school can call themselves a Christian school when they can justify beating down on a disabled war Vet. I do not recommend attending this school if you have any disabilities at all, because they will only make things worse for you.

Great for these types of students

I don't stay on campus, so I don't know personally how it is on campus. I do have friends who have visited and who are resident at the campus and they love it.

    Academic Rigor

In the beginning it is very overwhelming, however you will survive and come out ready to take in everything you are learning. Don't give up, just do it!

    Tips for prospective students

When attending School of Urban Missions stay committed to the program. You won't regret it. In the beginning it may be very challenging but that's when you know you are learning.

    In three sentences

School of Urban Missions is the most unique college you can attend. Everyone is outrageous and contagious! If you want to validate what you believe and desire to do for your life this is the school.

    Food and Dining

fast food is near by, but all cooking is done in the dorms.

    Dorm Life

Small campus, but it's got that family feel.

    Academic Rigor

Academics aren't super hard, but balancing everything makes it tricky.

    Tips for prospective students

Be willing to be flexible, this program isn't for everyone but if you have a heart to see this world change for Christ, you'll love it! It's challenging and definitely stretches you, but keep pushing through!

    In three sentences

SUM is a powerful, intense, life changing college. If you want to go to an ordinary Bible college, SUM isn't for you. Academics paired with hands-on ministry experience, and personal mentorship.
