Am learning a lot
Seton Hall is a mainstream college meaning it is a college that specializes in every single major that is possible and that there is no specific major that they cater to. It is more for those who want a traditional college experience since this is what Seton Hall represents. In the classes I have taken, I am learning a lot and learning new things. A lot of reading you have to do but it benefits you because at some point in life, you will remember what you read and you will use it in whatever it is you are doing.
Am enjoying being here
I really enjoy being here. The campus is medium-sized. Not too big and not too small, its just right. You can imagine yourself there and it is a really amazing sight when you see it. The middle of the university is the lawn called The Green and it is really green. Its really an amazing sight and you can see yourself there and you'll feel right at home because its not small and its not big, it is just right for anybody.
Bang for the buck
It is a lot of money, its a private institution and that means that you have to pay a lot of money. However, the school helps you with financial aid and there is a grant that Seton Hall gives to all its students depending on the FAFSA and their economic background. You also receive grants from the state to help you come to this university and the university has grants and scholarships of its own. There are ways for you to attend here and their scholarships and grants help you especially EOP. Also it is a very prestigious school where its name is grand and known worldwide, graduating from here will give you a degree that is so valuable and that guarantees you a job in six months as per Seton Hall itself says. A degree that is a lot of money but well worth it when you obtain your job and when you have a high position and earning a very good salary.
Tips for prospective students
For those students here in New Jersey, you will get help from the state, the university, and I encourage you to apply for EOP. I am an EOP student and it truly helps you in terms of refining and not losing the skills you have obtained in high school and you obtain a grant from them that truly helps you out no matter how small it is, every little bit helps. For those not in Jersey, you still obtain scholarships and grants from the university and you can transfer into the EOP program if you were in an EOP of EOF program at your state. Dorming is really amazing, I highly encourage it since you meet new people and new friendships will grow and soon you become the best of friends. In my dorm building, everyone knows me and I know them, its an amazing relationship we have because we get along and we all know each and we just have fun. Seton Hall is definitely a great place, with professors that help you and willing to answer your questions and staff all over campus that will help you if you search for it and it is not hard to do.
Great for these types of students
This university is great for all types of students. Its good for those that want a small place, those that want a medium place, a place that can be like a second home. There is plenty of people and everyday you meet and see new people. Also, it is very accepting of any nationality and economic background, I am a Hispanic from a middle class background and I'm having a very good and amazing time here. Its truly an awesome place.

With a beautiful campus and welcoming community, I know that Seton Hall is the only school for me. The ratio of professors to students is small, so I know I'm always receiving the care and attention of my professors if it's ever necessary. And the opportunity to visit the city or finding internships there is so easily achievable because of the train station being within walking distance.
Tips for prospective students
Learn basic cooking skills! Although the caf offers many choices, they may not always serve something you're craving. Luckily, we have many make-it-yourself stations in which students can create their own meals, from pizza, to omelettes, to stir fry!
Academic Rigor
We have amazing dual degree programs, academic honor programs, and amazing success rates in graduation, post graduation hiring rates, and internship rates.
Dorm Life
I am a commuter, but from what I have been told, the only negative of dorming are the fire drills. But that's for our safety!
Food and Dining
I love the specials offered like the pierogis, but I love making my own food!
What to do for fun
There are many clubs on campus, but the Student Activities' Board offers many events, both on and off campus. Our D1 athletics program has games almost every week, and if you'd like to actually play rather than just watch, there are club sports teams and intramural sports teams!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
DON'T STEP ON THE SEAL! The rumour is that if you step on the seal in the middle of the green, you won't graduate or won't graduate on time. The only way to reverse the curse is by running to the pirate statue in front of the gym within 20 seconds and touching the lucky left foot.
Great for these types of students
Students who don't like taking a long time to get to where they need to be. Anywhere on campus takes only five minutes to get to, which is FANTASTIC. The school is big enough where you see a new face every day, but small enough to always see a familiar face at least once a day.
Clubs and Activities
I am involved in two clubs, and I love attending the events hosted by the Students' Activities Board
Greek Life
I love the Greek unity here. I am in a sorority, and I have at least one friend in every social Greek organisation. We all do a lot for the Seton Hall community, whether it's public representation, offering our volunteer efforts with SHU's Division of Volunteer Efforts, or giving back with our own philanthropies.
Campus Safety
Our Securitas security administration is very secure and does amazing work to keep our campus safe. I never have a worry when walking through campus, even veeeeery late at night.

Just about 88% of professors at Seton Hall have a Ph.D. So your learning from the best of the best. The class ratio of student to professor is 14:1. So the professor knows who you are; your not just a regular student he/she collects their money from. Every professor has office hours and ALWAYS expect their kids to go to their office hours. The professor's are there to help you! If you don't take advantage of it you really don't know how lucky you can be.

Even if you dont understand the professor and need EXTRA help. Shu has an academic resource center (ARC). There they have tutors for just about all subjects. We have a writing center; where there are students or english professors helping you with your papers. We even have tutoring in the residences hall., these tutors are willing to work around your schedule. SO there is NO way you can do bad in your classes unless if you dont really try !
Am enjoying being here
Student life is what you make it. If you join Organizations on campus you will have a great time. We have 14 NCAA Division I Varisity, and our Baseball team just won THE BIG EAST CONFERENCE. So the school is going to be pretty crazy when we get back to Fall 2011.

We have 100+ Organizations on campus. There is a huge variety so TRUST ME when i tell you, you will find the prefect organization for you. We also have 27 Greek Societies, which is what makes the school amazing.
Bang for the buck
Now, I know Seton Hall University is beyond expensive. Sometimes I do think about transfering. But, than thinking about what this school offers and NOT TO MENTION how well known the school it is worth it ! Everytime I tell someone I attend Seton Hall, their impression is WOW, thats a great school !
Tips for prospective students
Freshmen year is the year students tend to Wild Out. Going into any school you will face this. Just control yourselves. Your freshmen year is the most important; it is the foundation of a great GPA to begin.

Even though some professor seem extremely boring they all know what their talking about. I've actually learned a lot here and I've only been at SHU for 1 semester. The thing they don't always tell you is that you have to take 2 core classes that don't really count for much they just teach you how to get through your first year, you also have to take a religious class.
Am enjoying being here
I like the school there is always something to do and your only a short train ride from the city. And the people are pretty nice.
Bang for the buck
They do give you a lot of free stuff. Its not totally free you are paying to go to a private school which means expensive. They have a lot of people to help you too.
Tips for prospective students
Always make an appointment for anything the school is horrible with walk ins. Sometime thy make you wait forever just to tell you they cant help you. Be outgoing get to know people
Great for these types of students
out going people that like diversity. There are so many types of people

I would recommend this university to anyone! They have great resources for the students attending in order to help them figure out what type of career to strive for. This university is also very prestigious so it will help give credibility to your degree for when you go out into the work force.
Tips for prospective students
Work hard to get high SAT scores because it will ultimately determine how much scholarship money that you receive from the university. Also, try to be as socially active as possible without making you grades suffer. The experience looks good on your resume.
Academic Rigor
Academically, this school is very challenging, but you will only see that if you put forth effort. The professors are there to make sure that you become an expert in the field that you study.
Dorm Life
I'm a commuter, but I do stay over on campus in my friends dorm at times. It's fun. Just make sure that you don't get carried away with the social life.
Food and Dining
The food is good when you first get there. However, like any college food, you start getting tired of it. They make really good sandwiches!
What to do for fun
There are parties on campus. There is a tennis court nearby. There's a gym to work out. I'm more into my books, so I'm not really sure.
Clubs and Activities
The clubs are great. There are over 180 clubs for all types of preferences.

My experience at Seton Hall has been great. You get the experiences of both a large university and small school, but it's the perfect size. The location is great because of it's close proximity to NYC, which offers great internships opportunities, as well as a place for fun!
Tips for prospective students
Definitely apply early to get the best possible financial aid before the scholarship deadlines pass!
Academic Rigor
The professors are challenging enough, but also want you to succeed. It is not impossible to do well by any means.
Dorm Life
Living on campus made my experience here. I made most of my friends while dorming and the buildings hold lots of programs hosted by housing that are fun.
Food and Dining
The caf is much better than most other schools I saw on tours and there are lots of dining options including a Dunkin Donuts. In the caf, you can make your own food if you like to get creative, but they also have premade things.
What to do for fun
We're just a half hour train ride outside of NYC where there are endless things to do. South Orange also has a lot of dining options. The Student Activities Board is always putting on programs and selling cheap tickets to concerts and events.
Bang for the buck
With some scholarships, you can get a private school education for the cost of a state school or cheaper.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
We don't step on our seal! If you do, you have to run to the other side of campus and rub the pirates foot to reverse the curse of not graduating on time!
Great for these types of students
It's a great campus for anyone because it's so diverse, but especially students who are interested in a NYC internship.
Clubs and Activities
There are so many things to get involved in and if there is a club we don't have, but you want, you can start it! There are spring and fall involvement fairs to help students get involved.
Greek Life
Greek Life is constantly growing at Seton Hall and is a great way to meet new people and have more to do for fun! I always have something to do or someone to hang out with because of Greek life.
Campus Safety
The campus is gated and requires a SHU ID to get through these gates. I have never felt unsafe on campus.

Seton Hall University is overall a great campus. It combines intellectual endeavor with a solid Catholic background. Also, there is always help and support, and you get to meet interesting people.
Tips for prospective students
If you're not ready for Seton Hall, I would recommend going to community college first and then transfer to Seton Hall.
Academic Rigor
The professors and advisers help you along the way. Just ask them for any problems, and they'll be able to solve it.
Dorm Life
I do not know how dorm life is, because I commute.
Food and Dining
There is often free food on campus if you attend some of the events.
What to do for fun
Over 150 student organizations and clubs to join.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
There is a famous legend that if one steps on a marble seal in the center of the campus, he/she will not graduate. However, the only remedy is that the person, who stepped on it, has to run to a pirate statue in front of the gymnasium and kiss its foot.
Great for these types of students
Transfer students, honors students, and students with a Catholic background.

There are over 150 clubs, student organizations, and activities to join, such as SGA, Student Activities Board, and The Setonian. Also, each individual department (diplomacy, arts & sciences, etc.) have their own student organizations.

Academic Rigor
Seton Hall seemed very committed to preparing their students as best they could for their careers. Service seemed almost as important as academics.
Dorm Life
The residence hall we toured had a lot of shared room downstairs that encouraged the sort of camaraderie that I look for in a school.
Food and Dining
I was there for an open house, so the food was most likely better than usual, but I was impressed with quality and variety.
What to do for fun
South Orange is close enough to New York City that I don't think people would have a problem finding something to do on the weekends. Keep in mind that I was only there for a campus visit and didn't explore the area very much.
Campus Safety
It is a gated campus, which does make it feel much safer. However, turning right outside of the main entrance, you see a not-so-great part of town, so the extra security does seem necessary. Overall, however, I did feel safe for my whole visit.

The campus is beautiful, a relatively good size, and welcoming. There's always something to do whether its a first 56 activity or just chilling in the Pirate's Cellar. There's always somewhere you can go or someone you can go to when you are in need of help.
Tips for prospective students
Make lots of friends and network, you never know what the people around you can provide for you. Give everything a chance, especially in the beginning because the little problem some things wont seem as problem some once your settled in.
Academic Rigor
In the beginning the work load may seem easy but once the professors deem you comfortable and ready the pressure becomes intense. Stick with it despite any negatives. Your no longer looked at as a kid in college your looked at as an adult so your expected to act like it. High school excuses won't work here so just do your best and do all assignments on time.
Dorm Life
The freshman rooms are a little on the small size, but once your settled in and you and your roommates work out a cleaning and bathroom schedule everything should go smoothly. There's always something to do especially the first month or so.
Food and Dining
The food in the dining hall is actually pretty good. There's so many options you can even create your own meals. There's other places to eat besides the dining hall.Everything is delicious.
What to do for fun
There's paces to go off campus, there's even a Shufly that goes right to the train station. So its quite easy to get to the city. There's also tons of things to do on campus; parties, campus sponsored events, and lounging with your new friends.
