    In three sentences

Pillar College is a small private school in Newark and also Somerset, NJ. My experience here has been incredible, I have made amazing friends and become part of a family here. The staff and faculty wants to see you succeed, unlike most schools where you are just a number.

    Campus Safety

The campus is self contained and the parking lots are well lit. Not only that, due to the smaller class sizes, everyone keeps one another's back. There has never been an issue or circumstance where I have not felt safe.

    Greek Life

Other than studies on Corinthians and perhaps Greek language, I am not certain that there are any, Greek, clubs.

    Clubs and Activities

While there are several clubs and activities, as a working professional and full time student, I have not had much time to devote to the extra circulars, though they are available to those who wish to participate.

Great for these types of students

SCC is wonderful for those who do best with smaller class sizes, intimate settings, individualized attention as needed, and a passion for growing academically into the fullest potential possible.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

SCC is a conservative school; however, it is also an expanding school with two campuses and another on the horizon. This school seeks to serve the students to become avid and qualified professionals in their choice of work upon graduation.

    Bang for the buck

The benefits of SCC are a Christ centered education at a reasonable cost. The faculty and staff are compassionate, helpful servants wanting only the very best for SCC students. My cohort has become a second family to me as we learn along side of one another. It is exciting to go to class every Monday night, not only to learn, but also to be vested not only in my education but also in the lives of the precious classmates I enjoy.

    What to do for fun

The college has extra-curricular activities, clubs, a lounge, and multiple opportunities to enjoy fellowship with other students.

    Food and Dining

There is a cafe on campus that is suited to the needs of a commuter school. Additionally, there are many wonderful restaurants close by that have bountiful selections for every palate.

    Dorm Life

SCC does not have residential housing. It is a commuter college.

    Academic Rigor

The accelerated adult learners LEAD program has been the option most suited to me. It is intense, satisfying, fast paced and taken one class at a time over a time span of 5 weeks for each class. Grades are based upon written assignments only, not exams, and the material is challenging and rewarding for the student who learns along side cohort members that do not change over the 20 months of coursework.

    Tips for prospective students

My suggestion is that if you're looking for a Christian higher education and you live in New Jersey, New York, or eastern Pennsylvania that you look no further than SCC, the only accredited Christian college in NJ. Never be afraid to try something new. As the college expands, so shall you in answering the call to a Christ centered education.

    In three sentences

SCC is equipping me to be the best I can be. for the faculty and staff are compassionate life learners themselves who model attitudes of humility and leadership in their instruction. Accepting the challenge of returning to school after being out of the classroom for over 2 decades has been one of the most rewarding endeavors of my life!
