In the Chattanooga area, it is a big tourist destination for those who are aiming to get in touch with the outdoors and that is why Hiking/Nature walks/Kayaking takes place around here. Going Downtown is about a 20-30 minute drive and it is a great place to explore, the Hunter museum, Chattanooga Zoo, Coolidge Park, and the Aquarium, Downtown is where most of this area's nightlife and other fun activities take place. Atlanta is also about an hour and a half to two hour drive, but it is worth it being that Atlanta is a major hub in the South. In Chattanooga, there are still places to shop nearby Hamilton Place Mall, there are skating rinks near the mall, and bowling alley's as well. Most of the fun is still a bit of a drive from campus but still worth it.

There are a lot of outdoor activities that are available both inside and outside of campus. Occasionally, the school will organize students to go out for bowling, skating or some other fun activities. Also, every Saturday afternoon, many students like to go to the natural park for hiking, swimming, or rowing.

Southern is located fairly close to town where there are beautiful parks next to the river and great shops and restaurants. There are also many hiking trails right on Southerns campus as well as a rock climbing wall and disk golf course.

AS has lots of activities every month. Some are really silly and others not so cool but why stay in your room when you can get out there.
