Established in 1967, Southwest Virginia Community College is a public, 2-year institution located outside of Richlands, on Route 19 South. Southwest offers over 80 associate’s degree, diploma, and certificate programs throughout its seven paths of study. Students have the opportunity to enroll in online courses not available on-campus through an agreement between Southwest and Northern Virginia Community College. The college provides access to a variety of state-of-the-art facilities and programs, such as the Clinical Simulation Lab and Mobile Center, the  Governor's School for Science and Technology, and several others.
