Am learning a lot
On my first year at Southwestern College I was in the Transfer Institute Program, which is a one year program designed to increase the number of students transferring to a university. Being in the TI has been a awesome experience and also very helpful. The teachers that I had in the TI were the best teachers that I ever had, they really care about us and our progress.
Am enjoying being here
In the Transfer Institute I met both of my best friends. I can say that I am living the best days of my life. I really enjoy being at Southwestern College, I feel like home.
Bang for the buck
Southwestern College it has been really helpful financially with my education. It has a lot of resources to pay for college. It has FAFSA, BOGFW, grants, scholarships, work-study, EOPS, and more.
Tips for prospective students
I encourage all students that are interested in persuiting an education to start your educational goals at Southwestern College, it has a lot of resources of all kind. You won't regret it.
Great for these types of students
Southwestern College is for any kind of students that are there to study, and to accomplish their educational goals. Not for students who are wasting there time.

Am learning a lot
I have learned quite a lot of new stuff here that wasn't even touched back in my High School, but even so there are some stuff that i had already learned so not everything is completely new.
Plenty of good teachers out there with all different teaching strategies many of which are easy to get used to.
Am enjoying being here
We are able to choose our on schedule according to how fast we wish to proceed through college and how flexible we can be. Which is either by taking only M-W-F classes, T-TH classes, morning or afternoon and such. Main offices employees are always ready to help out and willing to. People aren't so bad, while not the most friendly out there, they are far from the worst. Easy to fit in anywhere really. Met my first girlfriend here as well so cheers for me.
Bang for the buck
$20 per unit for state residents. If you don't think that's cheap i don't know what is. Main classes ranging from 3-4 units per class. And with scholarships being offered as well including the FAFSA, CAL Grant, BOG-FW, and others you really get your money's worth and even more.
Tips for prospective students
Keep on it, no matter what age, sex, ethnicity, race you are, this school is open to anyone out there willing to try and make their life better.
Always be sure to stay on top of things or they just might pile up on you, but anyone can do it if your up for it.
Great for these types of students
Any student really, slacker? not a problem take it slow. Achiever? take as many as you can afford, Taking your time? There's other activities that are open for students such as sports, swimming, gym, and dancing classes to help take your mind of things for a while.

Am learning a lot
The quality of professors here is great. The professors will either lecture clear enough to grasp a subject, or they will force the students to put in time outside of class to master the subject. Usually the teachers that are notorious for being hard or how they run the class, those are the ones that I have learned the subject well. Those types of teachers have forced me to not be lazy and work for an A in class. The benefit of not being a large campus is that help is never that far away. There are always tutors close by to help learn the subject, and also the professor's office is also close by in case someone needs help.
Am enjoying being here
The main campus for Southwestern College is fairly small compared to the size of a university. Before joining a club or organization on campus I got into a I am going in circles mood, because I was still at Southwestern and still had some ways to go before transferring. Also the large amount of students relative to the amount of classes available can cause for some students to not get in a class, and still be at Southwestern College longer than they should.
Bang for the buck
Despite the continuous raise in cost per unit at Southwestern it is still cheap compared to going a University. The cheaper price to pass general education classes is very beneficial, because I won't have to pay the expensive tuition to take them at a four year university. Being able to pass the general education classes at a lower cost means I can focus on my major once I do transfer.
Tips for prospective students
Southwestern College is fairly small compared to a university, so try to find a club or organization to be apart of. Clubs and organizations make the experience at Southwestern better, because students get to meet other students and become involved in the school. I am apart of the Math Science Engineering Achievement (MESA), which gives free walk in tutoring to students. I am tutor here, and have also sought out help from the other tutors. This organization also helps students by giving them information about scholarships, internships related to the organization, and having competitions with other MESAs across San Diego.
Great for these types of students
Any major that there is Southwestern College can help students take the prerequisites for their major. If a major is not available, Southwestern College will at least help out your wallet and offer general education classes to transfer at a cheap price.
