    Campus Safety

the campus is small and everyone knows everyone. security is easy to call and will escort you to your dorm if you feel threatened. they make rounds every hour and through the night to make sure there is no suspicious or dangerous activity. lights were recently put in the parking lots to ensure safety while walking back to the dorms late at night.

    Greek Life

    none

    Clubs and Activities

different types of clubs to become active in planning college wide activities and multiple different science clubs. activities are always happening on campus and stress busters happen around midterms and finals. everyone is very active in clubs or campus wide activities.

Great for these types of students

sciences, pipe band, english, religion, psychology, therapeutic horsemanship

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

on campus there is a small white wall beside the lake, next to the cafeteria and students are allowed to go out and spray pain the wall with anything they would like to share with campus. usually people post parties, protests, club activities, or positive messages. there is also a building near the woods on the dorm side of campus which is used for dances which we call farrago and other night time activities like mini golf.

    Bang for the buck

it can be very expensive for some. they have recently included books into their tuition. most people do not like the dorms because they are a bit outdated but there are many options in making the room personal and activities for you to join so you don't look at the four walls all day.

    What to do for fun

laurinburg is a very small town which means the most fun you can find there is walking up and down the isles at walmart. the campus is very beautiful though with trails which is good for those who like to go for walks in the woods. people do a lot of tanning, playing volleyball, and fishing on campus. there are also a lot of activities happening on campus daily and parties happening every weekend. there is a park about 30 minutes down the road in wagram but the closest town is southern pines or fayetteville. for any equestrians interersted in coming to st. andrews, the equestrian center can be enjoyable with all the friendly faces of the barn managers.

    Food and Dining

food on campus is rather iffy because one day they can be on the ball and others your best bet is to have $5 to go to taco bell or cookout. there is a small cafe on the academic side which is great for the days you have an early class or no time to run back to the dorm side and catch lunch. the main cafeteria is large and looks out to the lake which is pretty and is done in buffet style.

    Dorm Life

the dorms are not too impressive because of how old they are but they're better than nothing and easy to make your own. freshmen have to live in the high rises, unless physically disabled, which means lots of stairs. this up coming year they are reducing the amount of people who are getting singles because we are getting a football team and they need to make more room for the players.

    Academic Rigor

depending on the classes you take and your major, you will encounter teachers whose rigor might make you want to change your major and other teachers who bore you with how easy their classes are. the rigor overall is decent and easy to balance with good time management.

    Tips for prospective students

go to your classes and don't sign up for morning classes if you are not a morning person and can avoid it. the teachers are very forgiving if you are respectful, attend their classes, and show an attempt at their work and they are very willing to help you. try for a study abroad experience. there are many but the semester in italy is a big one. unfortunately, the summer of 2017 is the last year to go spend a month in india and trek through the himalayas. make friends with people in your suit. it will help break up your study time and also allows you to get second opinions quickly. the campus is small so don't do anything to crazy that you don't want to be remembered for, things spread quickly and easily.

    In three sentences

st. andrews has a beautiful campus and a very diverse set of students which allows for new cultural exposure and an expansion of ideas. it is very easy to make friends and multiple connections with different people with how friendly all the students are. this school as seasoning and a history that could change you depending on how you let it affect you.

    Campus Safety

The campus is very safe, security has constant patrols around the campus. Many students know the security people by name and they are there when you need them.

    Greek Life

No geek sorties or fraternities on campus.

    Clubs and Activities

There are a few clubs on campus and the main club holds events at the beginning of the year as well as host some parties. They also help with stress busters for finals week. There is always a game to go to during the week as a way to support the school.

Great for these types of students

Great for students who like the smaller campus atmosphere and the small classrooms. Some of the universities have large classrooms and too many students to even recognize. Here the professors are easy to talk to and they know your name. It is great for the student who is not quite ready for the super large university campus.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

There is a wall at the end of the bridge towards the cafeteria. This wall was started during the protests of the Vietnam War. Many students would spray paint on the wall in order to show there protest and concerns. Now the wall is used for campus information and for the students to decorate whenever they want.

    What to do for fun

The weekends are what many students look forward too. There are the occasionally parties hosted by a club at school. Also many students head to Southern Pines for the movies and other dining options. The school is in a very small town so there is not much to do around town.

    Food and Dining

Many students do not like the dining hall. We only have one cafeteria in the whole school because it is such a small school. There are three meals during the week and two on the weekend. Everyone basically eats in the cafeteria or on their own somewhere off campus. At first the food is good then after awhile one starts to miss home cooking, like any other campus foods. However there is always something to eat, the cooking staff is good at mixing the menu and giving a variety of foods.

    Dorm Life

The dorms are a good size and it is better to have a roommate than a single (for financial reasons). Everyone hangs out in the dorms during the weekend and after your first year you can pick the dorm and suite you want to stay in. Many students build their own suites with their friends. Compared to other schools the dorms are a bit outdated however large and comfortable enough for living.

    Academic Rigor

The course work is as hard as you make it. There is still homework and other projects the professors want you to do; however no one is forcing you to do the work like in high school. Depending on the classes depends on the amount to homework, obviously some professors require less work than another. They will still challenge you to think and process the information necessary.

    Tips for prospective students

Visit the campus!! Whether it be by the pictures on the website or by scheduling a visit. Make sure you are comfortable with the small campus atmosphere. By seeing the campus it makes it easier in making a decision. Also look at all the scholarships the school offers as well as the academics. Make sure your major is offered as well as some student testimonies about that program. The school also has some varsity sports teams so look to see if that is something you might consider.

    In three sentences

I would rate this school as B. The professors are always available for the students, it is a very close knit family when it comes to the professors and students. Basically you know everyone and all the professors know you whether or not you had a class with them. The campus is small but cozy, be prepared to make lots of friends and know your professors well.

    Clubs and Activities

Many clubs to be involved in!

Great for these types of students

We have the equestrian program so many females or males will love that.

    What to do for fun

I enjoy sitting by the lake, looking in at the turtles, feeding the ducks and sometimes fishing.

    Food and Dining

At any college dont expect the food to be like home cooked meals. But the food here is pretty decent.

    Dorm Life

I am a commuter, meaning I dont live on campus. But from what I've seen and time I've been on campus it is

    Academic Rigor

SAGE courses seems to be the most difficult for students but regardless of what they seem, you will need this courses later down the line.

    Tips for prospective students

Being at SAU you will learn that all classes help you no matter how you feel about them. Get to know all your professors well because in the end this will help you on your way to graduate school.

    In three sentences

What I love most about this school is the staff and faculty and the view. Everyone here is so nice and helpful. I'm from the town and being on campus is my home away from home.
