Am learning a lot
There is a wide variety of courses available. When it comes time for me to register for classes, I am stuck because there are so many I want to take, and not enough time. I really love that Stockton encourages students to gain a breadth of knowledge by exploring different areas. When I attended instant-decision day the man who was reviewing my application and transcript told me that undeclared is the best way to go for the first semester. I strongly agree because without a set major right now, I am very open-minded and am trying many different things. As a result, I have taken a variety of different courses and have discovered a couple new areas that interest me, that I never would have thought twice about before. Additionally, the professors here are excellent, and passionate about teaching others. They really care about their students, and make it known.
Am enjoying being here
Stockton has much to offer. Residential life at Stockton is excellent. There is not one thing I dislike about living on campus. The main campus where I attend classes is no more than a ten minute walk from the dorms. When I am not in class or doing homework, I am at Stockton After Hours events. There are events three to four times each week: movie nights, game nights, bingo night, quizzo nights, karaoke nights, craft nights, candy nights, comedy nights, and more. The best part about it is that everything is free, and there are snacks and beverages, and many opportunities to win prizes and money. In addition, there are many clubs and organizations students can be a part of. There really is something for everyone.
Bang for the buck
Very active campus, excellent education, many good places to eat, constant changes (new campus center being built right now)
Tips for prospective students
I would encourage prospective students to try one semester undeclared first. Even if you already know for sure what you want to major in, just wait to declare it because then I think you are more open-minded. Also, I would encourage prospective students to live on campus. Living on campus really allows you to be more involved and feel like you're a part of the college community.
Great for these types of students
Stockton is great for students who are looking to have close relationships with their professors. Most of the classes are 25-30 students. All the professors I've had so far have been really caring and helpful. They all learn each of their students' names. I even have one professor with a 200-student class, and he is working on learning everyone's name.

Stockton University is a mid sized public school in a rural setting, despite being just 10 minutes away from Atlantic City. There's a variety of bachelor's and master's degree programs available, all at an affordable price. Additionally, there's always something to do whether it's events, clubs, sports, games, or even their many study abroad programs.
Tips for prospective students
Find at least one or two clubs to join and meet people. Some classes can be pretty quiet, so you not get the opportunity to meet people during the course. I would also suggest, if money permits, trying one of their study abroad programs. They're an experience of a lifetime, and they often offer scholarships for students who join!
Academic Rigor
Depending on your major and year, classes can range from incredibly easy to very very tough. Foreign teachers may occasionally be an issue, so if you need a good grade, you may have to seek help from someone besides the professor for extra help. But besides that issue, most of the teachers have a passion for what they teach and that's a definite plus.
Dorm Life
Can't say anything about the dorms as a commuter. Most students commute here as far as I know.
Food and Dining
Tons of choices for everyone. From vegetarian to comfort food, there's a lot to choose from with over 10 places to eat right on campus. Be careful to control your diet here, though. It can get very tempting.
What to do for fun
There is actually a lake right on campus with a small beach and trails nearby! If you like the outdoors, I would fully recommend exploring the beautiful nature filled campus. There's also plenty of sports fields, a gym, and game rooms for additional entertainment.
Bang for the buck
As in state student, its a definite 5/5 for me. You get a great education for a mere $12,500 a year. Out of state tuition, however is more of a 3/5. $24,000 a year could be better spent on a higher quality university. And that price does not even include housing.
Great for these types of students
Anyone who likes nature, but also wants nearby towns and cities to explore.
Clubs and Activities
Plenty of clubs to pick from, they cover just about every subject you could think of and more. I can't speak for every club, but most of them very active around the school. There's also countless study abroad opportunities in countries all around the world. Stockton offers scholarships as incentives to go on these trips, which provide you with college credits.
Greek Life
Not super popular, but it does indeed exist
Campus Safety
Stockton has their very own police force constantly on patrol, and dorms are equipped with keycards/gates. I've never had an issue with safety here.

The professors that I have had so far have been great. Each teacher has taken time out of class to work with students who are struggling or need help in choosing which career they may pursue. Stockton College has an enormous amount of different classes to choose from and everyone is extremely friendly.
Am enjoying being here
Stockton College gives freshman numerous opportunities through different freshman activities to meet one another. I made many friends within my first few days at Stockton. It is a relatively small school, and the buildings are in ABC order so it is very easy to find your way around. The college offers a variety of clubs, organizations, and sports for anyone to get into.
Bang for the buck
Although Stockton is a state school, it is still extremely expensive. But, on the bright side, it offers many amazing scholarships that aren't too hard to achieve.
Tips for prospective students
I would definitely recommend on going to the SOAR program the weekend before school starts. I met three of my best friends during that program. I would also recommend going to all the activities they have during the first week of school. It really helps you feel more comfortable in your new surroundings. Take classes you think you will enjoy, but also take classes you've never really heard of. College is all about experiencing new things, and Stockton definitely gives every student that opportunity.
Great for these types of students
Stockton College is a GREAT science school. It is also a good business school. I would also recommend Stockton for anyone who doesn't want to enter a huge college. Stockton is on the small side, and is very comfortable. It has changed my life, and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

Stockton is a welcoming environment in which students can thrive in not only their academics but their extracurricular activities. There are numerous options of things to do on this beautiful campus. It is a wonderful environment for all of us who attended Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, soon to be University.
Tips for prospective students
Some of the tips I would give to prospective students would be to come as a freshman if possible. I went to a community college first, and transferring is a big transition. Stockton is very welcoming for transfers, but it can be difficult at times. The offices at Stockton are always open for their students and willing to do anything they can to make Stockton, a better place. I would visit Stockton on a weekday Monday-Thursday. Friday-Sunday is a common day for students to leave campus. Stockton is not a commuter school, but many people go home on the weekends. But, college is what you make out of it. There is always something to do on campus on the weekends, just find a good group of people who want to get involved and want to stay at school.
Academic Rigor
At Stockton, the difficulty of each class will change. Each class will teach you in a different way and challenge you in different areas. Stockton strives to hire the best professors and staff.
Dorm Life
Dorm life depends on many factors. Stockton has multiple dorms. Housing 2 and 3 are freshman dorms which are on one side of campus with a short walk to the academic buildings and food. Housing 1, 4, and 5 are for upperclassmen and they are apartment style housing. Housing 1 has a living room, kitchen, bathroom and two bedrooms. These bedrooms accommodate 2-3 people. Living in a 5 person house in housing 1 is not a bad option it is less expensive and it is possible to have space without making bunk beds. Housing 4 is the same as housing 1, but the beds are all lofted and it is a bit newer. Housing 5 is the newest and nicest of the apartments, but it is also the most expensive. Housing 5 has 4 individual bedrooms, a bathroom, a living room, and a small kitchen without a stove. There is also off-campus housing for students at the Seaview Hotel and Golf Resort. The hotel is about 5 miles away from campus but takes about 15 minutes to drive to. The rooms are spacious and they have full beds that are much more comfortable than on-campus housing. Housing 2, 3, 5, and Seaview are required to have a meal plan.
Food and Dining
The dining at Stockton is the same at every school. It's not wonderful but gives you the nutrients you need. Stockton has many places to eat. There is N-wing which is a buffet-style eatery. Au Bon Pan and The Beans List are two options inside the academic building for a quick sandwich or soup. These are my favorite at Stockton. Stockton also has the main campus cafeteria which includes fast food options such as Chick Fil A, Johnny Rockets and many others. Stockton has healthy options in at all of its dining options. For the freshman, they have a dining area near them which they can choose to cook their own food when it is open. For upperclassmen on campus, they have the Lakeside Lodge which is a convenient store and contains pizza as well. At Stockton Seaview Hotel and Golf Resort there are options that can be ordered through web-food and then the student picks it up in the kitchen which is a short walk from their rooms. The food at Seaview is hit or miss.
What to do for fun
At Stockton, there is always something to do. Not only are clubs very active but Stockton has weekly movie nights in which they show relatively new movies for free for students, and if you go to a certain amount of them you receive tickets to the movie theaters. The Stockton Entertainment Team continually has events for Stockton students to enjoy such as Haloween Party's in the campus center, Bring your own items scavenger hunt, and weekly comedy shows. Stockton also has two big events they host one for homecoming which was a comedy show featuring a Girl Code and Guy Code comedian and another event in the spring featuring different music artists. Last spring the Goo-Goo Dolls played for us at what we call WoodStockton. These are just a few of the different things that students can do for fun.
Bang for the buck
Stockton is a public state school. For those of us who live in New Jersey Stockton is a wonderful place to go to school. It has wonderful academics and many extracurriculars. Stockton is also becoming a University within the next year with multiple campuses, the newest being the recently closed ShowBoat Casino which will have classes, dining and dorms.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
One of the most wonderful parts of campus is its location. Located directly in the Pine Barrens in the beautiful woods. Between campus and the apartments is a wonderful lake, Lake Fred. Lake Fred is between 2-3 miles in circumference and has wonderful walking, biking, and running paths for students. Lake Fred also has a piece that we like to call the beach. It runs sand directly to the water. There are picnic tables by the beach where you can eat lunch or finish a paper.
Great for these types of students
Stockton is wonderful for the student who loves science as are school of science is highly ranked. Stockton is also a great school for those who like to be outdoors and love nature. The campus is a mix of beautiful old architecture in the Art building and modern architecture in the new Unified Science Centers.
Clubs and Activities
Stockton's clubs are active and strives to have activities happening every day.
Greek Life
The Greek life at Stockton is active. There are many different Fraternities and Sororities to chose from and they have programs happening weekly.
Campus Safety
The safety at campus is wonderful. The Stockton Police Department is located on campus across from the upperclassmen housing. Police continuously patrol campus in order to ensure our safety. When walking into the apartments the student I.D.'s are used to open their own dorm.

Academic Rigor
As a double major in sciences, I have found my classes comparable, or even harder than some of my friend's classes who went to schools such as Rutgers. I have to study everyday in order to keep my GPA high. Most professors are very willing to help out if you are struggling, which is a benefit of the small class sizes that Stockton offers.
Dorm Life
I loved Housing 2. I found the dorm very spacious, and the bathrooms were cleaned daily. However, the upperclassmen housing is less than desirable. Currently in Housing 1, and it is very expensive for the small amount of room we have. Furthermore, everything seems out of date. And for Housing 1, there is only one laundry room for all of the courts, which could mean waiting hours for a machine.
Food and Dining
Was not a fan of N-wing, but there have been improvements recently. It is becoming easier to eat healthier on campus. And I love the Dunkin! However, be prepared for at least a 20 minute wait.

Richard Stockton College of New Jersey is an amazing college. The atmosphere is very inviting and promotes academic brilliance. The classes are varied and the professors are attentive.
Tips for prospective students
I recommend this college for any students ify about the idea of attending. All Criminal Justice majors, such as myself, will be happy to know that there are many classes tailored to your needs. Most of the CRIM professors, that I have had, have background experience with some part of the law. Be it police officers or criminology theorists. The school has done a new Health & Science center. It is state-of-the-art. The classroom are all clean and electronically advanced. My only problem is that is reminds me of the thing I fear most, the hospital. The tuition is very low. Trust me when I say that when you graduate, you will be better off than many other students from different universities.
Academic Rigor
The academics are not difficult because the professors spend a lot of time going into detail about subject matter. You will never have a question unanswered. The professors are all friendly, some can be even funny. The courses are difficult, but they are made easier by the professors and friends at the tutoring center. I do not have too much to say about academics because it is up to you. The professors to a fantastic job teaching. Showing up to class, paying attention, and doing all the work are essential to doing good in this school. This much is up to you. Sometimes the classwork will pile up the the point where you have two essays and a project due next week, but they can all be completed is time is managed correctly.
Dorm Life
Dorms are really fun. Sometimes I would stay up until two in the morning and just talk with my neighbors about stupid things like movies, superheroes, or the hot girls on campus. I am from North Jersey. I was amazed how friendly everybody was down at Stockton. I think its the beach. The freshman dorms are alright. There is nothing too glamorous about them. All the other dorms are amazing. You even can choose to live in a hotel for your year. Its called Seaview Hotel. Just the name gets me excited. I also heard that the beds are to die for. The forms are very safe. There are campus police patrolling almost all the time. I can not tell you how many times they honked the horn at me because my ear buds were on and I was in the way of their car. Each dorm is run by an RA that seem to know everything and give great instructions. During hot days, people play volley ball, basketball, frisbee. What you never played frisbee? Don't worry it will soon become your favorite sport. I recommend the dorms for anybody wanting to go to this college.
Food and Dining
There are many places where a student can go and get something to eat. The one I have been to the most is in the center of campus. There are eight eateries stacked side by side. Johnny Rockets is one of my favorites. Do not worry, there are also healthy places to eat. I started eating healthy so I can get rock hard abs for the ladies. There is also a buffet area with the nicest lunch lady I have ever met. The place I went to the most was Dunkin Donuts. The lades working there were so nice that they remembered my order. Ice tea and a bagel with cream cheese. The food tastes great, but don't spend all of your meals in the first month.
What to do for fun
There are plenty of things to do for fun around Stockton. Stockton has a common area with a bunch of fun games. There are a lot of pool tables, pink-pong tables, and games I never knew existed. Get a couple of your friends and the day seems slips by when you are in here. My favorite place to be in the gym. There is no better feeling than to have big muscles. There are three gyms total on campus so the gyms are never overcrowded. Bring your car to school and the fun goes off campus. Atlantic City is only 30 minutes away and there is nothing more amazing than all those lights on a Friday night.
Bang for the buck
The main reason I am going to Richard Stockton College is because it is cheap. I pay very little to go here. Stockton offers many good scholarships to incoming students. There is no point in going to college if you are going to owe $50K plus in student fees. By the time I graduate college I will only owe $14,000 in student loans. My GPA is only a 3.4, so for many students the education might be free. There are plenty of ways to cut the cost down. Students can become RA's, this way their housing is free. Students can become tour guides for interested students. The guides get $2,500 off their tuition. Stockton gives plenty of opportunities to make your fees disappear before graduation.
Great for these types of students
-Students that do not want to spend a lot of money on school.
-Any students interested in varied courses. Criminal Justice and Health and Sciences are the most popular)
-Students that want a small classroom. (Maximum class size is 25 students)
-Interested in getting their bachelors and masters fast. (3 years earlier than most colleges)
-Students interested in a friendly atmosphere.
Clubs and Activities
There are hundreds of clubs at Richard Stockton College of NJ. There are clubs for majors, clubs about nature, clubs about hobbies ex. There are so many clubs at Stockton that you will not have an easy time finding one. During my Monday, Wednesday, Friday classes I would see the gaming cub setting up TV's and playing super smash bros. The same was for various other clubs. Big flashy posters attracted freshmen like boats to a lighthouse.
Greek Life
Greek like is a great way to make friends. I am going to join a fraternity next year. There are many to choose from. I do not know much about Greek Life, but I do know that the Greek Advisor is very strick.
Campus Safety
I made mention of how safe the campus is in a previous question. The police patrol almost all the time. A student can always call the campus police if they want as escort back to the dorms. Key cards are required to even move an inch around campus. There is nothing an overprotective mother would have to worry about at Stockton.

Stockton University is a small university that is rapidly expanding. The average class size is smaller than most large schools, but the academic curricula are competitive with most other state schools. Ideal for both commuters and residents, Stockton is both affordable and distinctive.
Tips for prospective students
Stockton has an outstanding academic advising staff who are ready to assist students in selecting and enrolling in the most advantageous classes for any major. Stockton's smaller class sizes allow professors to give students more individualized instruction outside of class. Stockton also has many partnerships with local organizations such as the Federal Aviation Administration and Atlanticare Health System that give students the chance to pursue internships, work-study programs, and other career-building employment opportunities. Take advantage of these resources as soon as possible, and often throughout your college career to better equip yourself to face the job market.
Academic Rigor
As a small school, Stockton has a fairly relaxed atmosphere that both encourages competition and achievement, while mitigating stress and anxiety for students. While classes vary in intensity and difficulty, the school provides tutoring services, and various other resources to help students to succeed.
Dorm Life
With dorms located at the main campus, the Seaview Country Club, and the Atlantic City Campus, Stockton provides a wide variety of housing options. Stockton offers an expansive variety of meal plans for both commuters and residents alike.
What to do for fun
Stockton's location makes it an ideal place for students looking to have fun in the surrounding communities. The main campus is located just ten miles from the world famous Atlantic City Boardwalk, the Atlantic City Outlets, and the shore! The campus sits on a 2,000 acre campus with space for students to hike, fish, and bike while enjoying the fresh scent of the pine barrens. There are also plenty of clubs and organizations on campus that give students an opportunity to meet new people, explore new hobbies, and experiment with all sorts of activities. Finally, the Campus Center, located at the heart of the Galloway Campus, offers all sorts of activities including karaoke night, poetry slams, movie nights, and other fun attractions! Students will have no trouble finding ways to entertain themselves in their free time.
Bang for the buck
Stockton is a very affordable school with exceptional facilities and academic opportunities. Work-study programs, and foundation scholarships provide students with alternative ways to pay tuition. It is easy to see just how and where every penny of tuition goes to providing students with some of the best facilities and opportunities in the region.

Stockton was an amazing experience for my undergraduate education. The school is located in the middle of the New Jersey Pine Barrens and offers a campus that reflects the institution's dedication to environmental preservation. An ever-expanding list of majors, minors, athletics, clubs, and activities keeps this liberal university interesting and relevant amongst the competition with NJ's other state schools.
Tips for prospective students
Even though Stockton is close to Atlantic City, the Jersey shore, the Hamilton and Egg Harbor Township shopping area with lots of restaurants and stores, mostly all of your time will be hanging out with friends on campus. Take advantage of the nature trails and Lake Fred with your downtime, the campus is truly beautiful all year long. I pursued a political science degree at Stockton and I can say that I learned a ton from some very dedicated professors. My coursework was sometimes intense and sometimes light, but overall I was happy and fulfilled with my education when I graduated. With all of the interesting course options, its easy to get distracted from your major. Many of my friends became "super-seniors" and stayed at Stockton for 5 or more years because they just didn't want to leave! Finish your degree in 4 years or less and save yourself the student loans.
Academic Rigor
I didn't find Stockton to be overwhelmingly difficult. I graduated with a 3.67 GPA in Political Science. Most courses require attendance and professors are approachable and very willing to give you the tools to succeed. I was able to tackle more core major courses while also leaving at least one or two courses per semester to take a "just for fun" type of class. For example, I took a class on creating a graphic novel that was super enjoyable. Follow this advice: Do not take Stockton's notorious one-word courses. Examples of these include courses like Trees, Volcanoes, and Bicycles. These courses sound simple enough but they are intense and difficult. Ask any Stockton alumni and they will tell you the same!
Dorm Life
Stockton's on-campus life is terrific. I met life-long friends at Stockton and I still talk to my one roommate every single day. The campus always has activities happening but most of campus life is with friends in the dorms and in the apartments. Living on campus can be pricey but I wouldn't change my time living at Stockton for anything. Going on midnight walks through the woods, kayaking on Lake Fred, adventuring to the upperclassmen apartments when I was a Freshman. This is the stuff I'll remember forever. Live on campus, you won't regret it!
Food and Dining
When I was at Stockton, food options were just starting to expand. I recently visited the campus for some transcript paperwork and I was amazed at the options around campus. I'm not sure if Lakeside Grill is still there but it was a Lodge-style building near the apartments that offered all sorts of fried foods and pizza. N-Wing Cafeteria was the go-to place for freshman to eat. Lots of spots around campus during the day for snacks and lunch. G-wing Cafeteria was also a good place for dinners. I think there are more options than these available on campus but the school is also close to lots of restaurants, pizza, fast-food. You won't go hungry at Stockton.
What to do for fun
There are lots of things to do around Stockton that are supplied by the school such as movie nights, game nights, and carnivals in N-wing cafeteria. Aside from school-sponsored events theres just the beautiful campus to be explored with friends. Lots of nature trails wind through the Pine Barrens. A good amount of Weird NJ spots are close to campus too if you're feeling adventurous. Lake Fred can be canoed or Kayaked across. There are athletic fields and the gym with a nice track around it. I found a home at the campus radio station for a year, hosting a late night radio show with one of my best friends.
There are lots of magical things about Stockton that I can't explain, but there was never a dull moment at Stockton even though the school is pretty secluded in the Pine Barrens. Its not a city school by any stretch of the imagination. This is the type of school you go to so that you can forge long-lasting friendships and create memories with the people you know.
Bang for the buck
Stockton has grown into a university from the time I attended in 2006-2010 when it was still Stockton College. I graduated at the time of the 2008 recession so jobs were scarce and unemployment was high. Although I didn't leave Stockton and immediately find a lucrative job, I left with a very well-rounded liberal arts education that I can appreciate today. I feel like my Stockton experience was only 50% about the classroom education, although I can confidently say that the professors were terrific. The other 50% of the Stockton experience for me was about living away from home and creating incredible friendships and life-long memories. Visit Stockton and you'll see that it's an awesome place! Living at Stockton is a completely different experience from the commuter student experience. I did both. LIVE AT STOCKTON.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
The dark path is meant to be adventured with friends, be safe at night! Ewok Village is a moss-covered cedar grove near the freshman dorms. The island. Lake Betty. The observatory. A Weird NJ location near Stockton is called Indian Cabin Road. There are lots of hidden spots around Stockton and I feel like I've already mentioned too much! These are secrets that you find out by living there.
Great for these types of students
Introverts, extroverts, hippies, beach bums, study-bugs, party people, athletes, gamers, anime lovers, everyone and everyone. I'm a straight A student and I loved Stockton and the campus life. I have friends who are slackers and they also had an amazing time. Stockton has it all for everyone. I would definitely recommend Stockton to anyone who isn't expecting a city environment. The school is smack in the middle of the NJ Pine Barrens. You can take a bus or train to Philly or NY but its not super close. If you want a big city college experience, I'd recommend Rutgers. Stockton has a very particular charm to it. It's kind of NJ's oddball state school.
Clubs and Activities
Between sports, clubs, and on-campus organizations and activities there are tons of things to get involved with at Stockton. Absolutely no shortage of groups from community service and academic related groups to social and just-for-fun groups like paintball club, marine science club, bird-watching club, etc. Join a club, make tons of friends! Or don't and lay in a hammock by Lake Fred, its all good.
Greek Life
Stockton has a robust Greek life but I wasn't involved in that. I knew some people who loved being in a fraternity but it just wasn't for me.
Campus Safety
Stockton has emergency call beacons all over campus and there is a moderate security presence. When I was living on campus I never felt like I was in danger or that a police officer was too far out of reach. Stockton's police force is NJ state troopers and they are very friendly to all students. They're not trying to bust anyone for anything dumb, they just want to make sure everyone is safe on campus. Stockton also has AtlantiCare community hospital ON CAMPUS. It's just at the edge of Vera King and Jimmie Leeds Rd.

Stockton is has a very welcome and modern environment, and supports students of all backgrounds and affiliations. Many opportunities are offered to students to benefit them academically, such as Preceptor Advising day (each student is assigned an advisor based on their majors.) The classes Stockton offers are unique but may be hard to transfer to other schools, however most kids who end up leaving Stockton come back the following semester.
Tips for prospective students
Stockton has many dates available for incoming students or transfers to explore and learn about what the campus has to offer. These events are run by current students who know Stockton inside out. Take advantage of these opportunities so you don't enter college in the dark.
Academic Rigor
No college is perfect. They all have their faults, but since Stockton is a small school the professors are able to connect with all of their students. I have never had a professor who wasn't will to go out of their way to make sure I succeed.
Dorm Life
I am not currently living on campus, but I have heard from other schools that Stocktons dorms are more spacious and modern than their own.
Food and Dining
Stockton accommodates all lifestyles, offering vegan and vegetarian options daily. The food is made fresh daily and the cooks are willing to customize your meals to meet your needs.
What to do for fun
In the beginning of each semester they hold a Get Involved Fair in which clubs and organizations set up tables stretching across the main campus. All you do is go over, sign up, and you will receive emails about meetings and so on.

Greek life isn't as big as compared to most colleges in that we don't have Greek housing, but we have Greek life and most chapters are involved on campus.
Campus Safety
Campus police is always alert, and their K-9 dogs are usually making their way around campus. They're quite famous around Stockton, we all know the officers names since they are involved with student life.
