Clubs host events open to the campus all the time. Vendors visit weekly, and occasionally there are school-hosted events that are a lot of fun to get involved in.

There’s not a lot of campus life during the weekends so you’ll need to make your own fun with friends, but keep an eye on the newsletters for anything that might be interesting. There are plenty of opportunities to go to sports games if that’s what you enjoy, and I would recommend going to at least one basketball game even if you don’t like sports. There are plenty of clubs on campus, there is sure to be at least one you’ll want to get involved in! Some of my favorite activities on campus have been drive-in movie nights and Strawberry Fest!

Stony brook has a lot of programs. They all each put to you the moment you are on campus. Getting involved in cultural groups is a great way to met people and get good food. The theater club is also a great way to meet people of all majors with one similar interest being arts.

Plenty of events put on by clubs, so you can line up outside various locations for free food (there will always be a line). People tend to go to these events with their friends, so if you're attending these events alone with the hopes of meeting new friends (like I did), I'll tell you that it's rather hard. Not everyone (aka the majority) doesn't want to branch out. Join a social club (some sort of activity/ culture) and a career-focused club. Theres also a rec center if you want to work out.

Visit NYC via the train, which takes approximately 2 hours and requires changing trains once midway.

The campus is located in a quiet, suburban area so you have to find ways to make your own fun. It can vary from card games to going to concerts in NYC. Whatever floats your boat.
