    Campus Safety

There is an armed guard or two on duty at all times though the neighborhood is fairly safe if you do not go looking for trouble. There is a large Latino population outside the fence which surrounds the campus; many of whom play soccer on the athletic field after school and on weekends. Occasionally a homeless person will try to take shelter in the student center, but security quickly encourages them to move on.

    Greek Life

    None

    Clubs and Activities

athletic and student government clubs are active. there is a sign language club that exists, but is not very active. The English club consists of anyone who is taking English classes and does one activity a semester.

Great for these types of students

Athletes and those who expect to spend most of their time studying.

All other professors will schedule exams around Dr. Kemp's, but the student needs to let the other professor know when Dr. Kemp's exams are. The gazebo is for dating couples or those in the hammock club. Dr. Hud's English classes meet there during good weather also. Miss Bridget, the administrative assistant to the dean of students, gives away cookies on Friday morning in her office in exchange for a hello so she can get to know the students to better serve their needs. The student lounge is over the dining hall, but it is rarely used.

    Bang for the buck

if you watch your financial aid closely and attend classes regularly, this university is worth the money.

    What to do for fun

The best fun was studying with a study group of friends or visiting staff who lived within walking distance. Talking with the librarian, Mr. Woodruff, on any topic the student wants to know more about, especially the Civil War or the Bible was always good entertainment and a way to quickly pass the time.

    Food and Dining

The food is the same meal on the same day every week - leading to boring eating and poor habits. Best to get out of the meal plan and cook your own if you plan on eating healthy.

    Dorm Life

The dorms are full of mold and mildew so only a few spend much time there other than to sleep and change clothes. there are mandatory hall meetings each month. There is also strongly suggested attendance for weekly hall Bible study. The two laundry rooms are poorly maintained. The best time to do laundry is between 3-8 am on Saturday when the athletes are sleeping.

    Academic Rigor

For freshman and sophmore classes the rigor is quite high as Dr Kemp classes are required and he expects the student to learn. Jr and sr class levels are much easier as most of these professors are adjuncts without much experience in teaching.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure to double check your financial aid every week. Watch out for mold and mildew in the dorm. Attend ALL Dr. Kemp classes and use the study guides he provides to keep your grades up. When you need to print papers for class, use the library printer to save money. Get to know the librarian, Mr. Woodruff. He is a great resource and is always willing to help the student find information. Go to chapel prepared with ear plugs because the music is extremely loud - can be heard a half a block away with the doors closed! Get to know Miss Bridget, the administrative assistant to the dean of students.

    In three sentences

They had great professors and small classes. the campus is very small, but is within walking distance of the Post Office, churches, small businesses, and eating establishments. The administration panders to the athletes.
