Am learning a lot
The professors that teach here are wonderful! They are understanding, compassionate and encouraging. They are always open to questions and outside-class time you may need to fully understand the concept.
Am enjoying being here
There are so many different types of people at TTU, and all of them are nice and wonderful! There are lots of things to do if you are creative and its so easy to be friends with everyone.
Tips for prospective students
The best advice I can offer is to make a schedule and stick to it! Schedule when you're going to do what part of your paper and I would suggest to finish it by Thursday--this way if you're tempted to go out with friends for the weekend, you can!! It takes a little getting used to, but scheduling has been a real life-saver for me!
Great for these types of students
Anyone who enjoys learning with friends, discovering new things they didn't know they liked, or growing more confident in themselves.

Basics are too general. Once you get into higher level courses, they begin to be more linked and in tune with your major. Courses are tough but the faculty and professors are always open to questions and are willing to work with your schedule if you need to see them in their office hours. Don't be afraid to ask questions. If you don't understand, ASK. PowerPoint's have too much information on slides sometimes and I intensely dislike group projects but having to present the information to the class or instructor means I have to know what I am talking about.

Definitely! There are constantly activities to participate in any day of the week. One of the organizations I am in hosts Salsa Nights once a month as a fundraiser. If you're involved in an organization, there are weekly meetings as well as department meetings or guest speakers. The REC is very accommodating and accessible most, if not all, of the day. I LOVE the school spirit that the students at Texas Tech have. It really brings the students together as a student body and as future leaders in society, whether that be in class or their chosen career field.
Bang for the buck
Yes. Texas Tech has been most helpful in providing financial aid and scholarships. A little effort is required on the part of the student but it is worth it in the end. If you are having issues with obtaining financial aid, apply for school scholarships. Another option to look into is to attend summer courses at your local community college. It saves money, you get the same credit (make sure they transfer), and you do something useful with your summer. Do not be afraid to take out loans. They will pay themselves off when you have a strong career. Besides, a loan is an investment in your education and future and there is nothing better to invest in.
Tips for prospective students
1. GET INVOLVED! There is no better way to meet new people than to join organizations and make friends with those who have similar interests as you. Doing things together brings you together as a family and students do everything together, from taking the same classes and studying together to attending football games and rushing the field. 2. Go to class. Most professors highlight key concepts that will be a continual theme or will be on the exams. But you won't know if you don't go. Taking notes from your friends or other students may be problematic because everyone takes notes differently and your friend or fellow student might not take the same concept out of the lecture as you. Everyone also learns differently but no matter if you read the assigned readings and online PowerPoint's, going to class will drill into you what you are expected to know. 3. Have fun. College is a good experience and there are many opportunities to take advantage of. However, be smart, put your education first, and be safe about how you divert yourself.
Great for these types of students
Texas Tech is very diverse. There are students from all sorts of backgrounds and departments. The university is accredited for its strong medicine curriculum. Students interested in this field should apply. Students who wish to challenge themselves have the opportunity to do so by enrolling in Honors courses and submitting a Graduate on Time plan. If you like to be involved, this university is for you! There are an immense variety of organizations to join and these open up opportunities to broaden your interests. School spirit lovers, apply! We win football games and we are proud of it. WRECK 'EM TECH!

The professors and the people are among the most helpful! They'll even appreciate the stupid questions, everyone has always been more than happy to help!
Am enjoying being here
About every aspect of Tech and Lubbock I enjoy! Everything from the people to the dust storms, this place has character and charm.
Tips for prospective students
Bring rain boots! When it rains it usually floods and if you think the guy in the F-150 is going to have no pleasure whatsoever in splashing you, you are in for a rude awakening!

Will enjoy being here
Heck yeah! I am pumped, don't you see me smiling. lol
Bang for the buck

Tips for prospective students

Bang for the buck
Is there any college that really has bang for the buck? I don't think so, but Tech is in a city that is less expensive than most.
Tips for prospective students
You should definitely get caught up in all the hype during football season. Classes are more fun when you have something to look forward to at the end of the week.

Anyone can find a place at Tech where they feel they belong.

Am learning a lot
The teachers here are wonderful! If you don't understand in class they are always there at their office hours to help. Also, sometimes if you can't make their office hours, if you email them they will be more than willing to rearrange a separate time to help!
Am enjoying being here
The spirit here is ridiculous! Tailgating at football games is a great way to meet people, and gets everyone pumped for the actual game. Not to mention, its a year round thing, we don't just rot for out Texas Tech Red Raider Football Team. Everyone is super nice, welcoming, and not to mention you can join any kind of organization you want to. The Greek life here is also amazing. They get involved in so much, especially in the community. You can never have enough community service hours!
Bang for the buck
It's an expensive school don't get me wrong, but you're paying for what you get and more. I wouldn't choose another school to attend even if it was cheaper. To be completely honest, its fun packed, traditions are crazy, and not to mention the education you gain is top. You're paying a lot less here to get the same or better education then you'd get at a private school.
Tips for prospective students
I would say, come here ready to study. It's not as easy as everyone says Tech is. Also, be open-minded. Be ready to meet different cultures, get involved in Greek life, and all of the organizations on campus.
Great for these types of students
Anyone wanting to get a great education, and is ready to have plenty of fun!

Bang for the buck
College isn't cheap but with Texas Tech you are getting a great education. No matter the price I will finish school at Texas Tech. I am a Red Raider for life!
Tips for prospective students
Don't procrastinate, and Don't choose 8am classes
Great for these types of students
In any college working hard for those grades are essential. If you give 100% effort in class then college in general is for you.

In three sentences
in just one semester, texas tech has helped me become the person i've always wanted to be. i've learned so much in such a short amount of time, and i can't wait to spend the next three years here. i can honestly say i've had the time of my life here.
Tips for prospective students
with all the new freedom that comes with going away to college, you'll probably be tempted to test your limits. i think you have to learn what these limits are on your own, but don't push them too far. as cliché as it sounds, there is a lot of responsibility you need to take on, and if you don't own up to it, it will come back to bite you.
Academic Rigor
texas tech's classes provide the perfect balance between work and learning. unlike most places, you get out exactly what you put in for the classes. if you put in the time and studying that it takes to do well in a class, you'll be rewarded. vice versa, if you slack off and try to do the minimum amount of work to just get through a class, you won't get very much out of it.
Dorm Life
i was surprised by how friendly and welcoming all the students in the dorm were. each floor is like its own miniature family, and we all take care of one another. everyone makes dorm life out to be a miserable experience, but if you go in with a good and friendly attitude, you'll come out of it with life-long friends and a great learning experience.
Food and Dining
the food on campus goes above and beyond cafeteria food. each dorm has their own dining hall with a unique selection of food, making the options endless. you really can't make a bad choice, and i hardly ever miss home-cooked meals because of how great the food is here.
What to do for fun
because lubbock is such a small town, everyone thinks that it gets boring here. however, there's plenty of stuff to do for fun. almost every week i go out with my friends (and pretty much the rest of the university) to wild west, a local dance hall. other nights we'll go to the drive-in movie theater and get dinner at one of the amazing local places to eat. most nights, though, we usually just check and see what tab (tech activities board) has going on that night. they organize hundreds of fun things like free bowling, movie nights, dance parties, and ice cream socials.
Bang for the buck
i've had the most amazing time of my life so far at texas tech. the food, dorms, and academics are outstanding for the price that you pay for them, but the experience that you get out of going to school here is what's priceless. you meet so many amazing people, and every day feels like an adventure. i've never been so proud to call a school my own.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
one of my favorite traditions that tech does every year is called carol of the bells. thousands of christmas lights get put up all over campus, and one night just before winter break, everyone comes out to watch them get turned on. getting to see them all light up at once with all my fellow students is an experience i'll never forget. and while this is probably one of my top traditions, the football games are my absolute favorite thing we do at tech. seeing over 70,000 screaming fans dressed from head to toe in red and black cheering on our red raiders at every game is a sight that never ceases to amaze me.
Great for these types of students
if you're looking for the full package - great academics, great people, and an overall outstanding experience - then tech is perfect for you.
Clubs and Activities
it seems like there's a club for everyone. i'm personally a member of the quidditch club, which i just joined as something fun to do on the weekends.
Greek Life
there's sororities and fraternities around every corner if you're looking for a bigger commitment. though i'm not personally involved in these, i know many people who are, and who rave about how great it is to be part of a group of people so close.
Campus Safety
with all the recent shootings at universities, you would think being away at a college would make you feel uneasy. however, i've never felt safer. there are blue lights every couple of feet all over campus, which when pressed, will have campus police at your side within 90 seconds. dorms are also kept safe by being completely locked without a raider id card programmed specifically for that dorm. there are also campus police that constantly patrol, and seeing them around campus makes me feel safe and secure.

The teachers here are AMAZING. No joke. I took a nap after one of my finals since I had time before my next one, and when I woke up I had missed my ISQS final! But, my teacher was super understanding and let me take a different final in his office that night. Don't be afraid to go introduce yourself to your teachers at the beginning of the semester. Go to class everyday, ask questions and go to their office hours, because when it comes to the end of the semester and you need those extra few points to boost your grade, if they know you and saw that you were a dedicated student throughout their class, they will have no problem helping you out. Plus, some teachers give pop quizzes for extra credit so it's beneficial if you go to class everyday.
Am enjoying being here
I absolutely love going here. It honestly is that real college experience. There are many things you can join and get involved in. Greek life is amazing and a great way to make new friends. I really enjoyed rushing and ending up at an amazing house with a group of girls I can call my sisters. I also am really involved with my church since they have a great student association. I'm on staff and everyone there is like family to me. Honestly, get involved because these people are not just your class mates for the next few years but they are your 2nd family. Tech is your home away from home!
Tips for prospective students
Being away from home and going to school can be very overwhelming. Sometimes you can get caught up with just having fun and not having parents around that you forget that you are there for school. Don't feel like your alone if you start falling behind in grades. This isn't high school or community college, so yes, its meant to be challenging. I didn't do well my first semester and neither did a lot of my friends. So second semester we were all put in a strategies for learning class called XL. Honestly, best class I've ever taken. You don't have to be failing to take this class, and everyone should take it as a freshman. This class just taught me so much about myself and how to succeed not only in college but in life! This class is small so it was easy to make friends in. We played games and did fun activities, like a scavenger hunt across the whole campus! This class isn't for a grade, it's solely to help you learn about yourself and how you learn best. It was nice having one class that i didn't have to worry about so much and that was actually fun, and i advise anyone and everyone to take it! Just don't forget to get involved, go to class, and just have fun!

The professors are amazing; they teach the curriculum very clearly and are available during office hours for additional help. The university also offers free tutoring in every major, which is very helpful as well. Being at Texas Tech has helped me push my brain to limits that I did not know where possible. I am happy to be apart of such a studious university.
Am enjoying being here
There are over 400 organizations for students to join. At Texas Tech you will always find something to do whether its attending a football game or an engineering meeting. The fun never ends. Weekends are full of excitement, with streets full of excitement as well.
I love Texas Tech University!!!
GO RED RAIDERS!!!!!
Bang for the buck
I feel that I am getting the bang for my buck. For my tuition I get to attend every home game of any sport for free, I get as big of a meal plan as I want, and I get to learn from some of the best professors in the nation.
Tips for prospective students
If you are a prospective student, I suggest you at least have a 2.75 gpa in high school, be involved in many extracurricular activities and apply early.
Great for these types of students
Texas Tech is great for students that have an open mind, are full of energy, and ready to learn!!!
