The American University of Paris Stats, Info and Facts
Chartered as a liberal arts college in 1962, The American University of Paris is today an urban, independent, international university located at the meeting point of France, Europe, and the world. The University provides an academic learning experience in the heart of Paris that places your personal, intellectual, and professional development at its core. You can choose from 24 undergraduate majors and four core fields of graduate study, all taught in English.
AUP students are those that choose to live and learn internationally. They bring to the classroom their diverse cultural backgrounds, languages and perspectives, and the sense of adventure to become part of a global learning community outside of their own nationality and experience. In this multi-cultural context, AUP provides you with a strong academic foundation that supports critical thinking and practical application, and enables you to become a translator of international culture with the capacity to analyze, adapt, and thrive in any environment.
At AUP our faculty, themselves hailing from around the world, help you to cross intellectual, cultural and geographic borders with ease, enabling you to be a responsible actor and leader in today's competitive global work environment. The University faculty provides a curriculum that combines liberal arts inquiry, preparation for professional life, and student-centered, active learning in small classrooms. Faculty lead cultural study trips around the world to apply classroom learning to actual economies, social systems, governments and organizations. This integrated curriculum allows our graduates to go anywhere, meet anyone, do anything, and achieve success in a wide range of compelling careers.
AUP has an urban campus that extends from its home in the 7th arrondissement to the city's bookstores, cafes, libraries, and galleries. It provides you with the opportunities and amenities of one of the world's truly great cities, right at your doorstop. We challenge you to engage in deeper academic and cultural learning sharpened by discussion, analysis, and research at over 200 institutions across the city, including the Louvre, UNESCO, Palais de Tokyo, the Sorbonne, L'institut Francaise de la Mode, and more.
You can engage directly with the histories, perspectives, and contemporary realities of cultures around the world on study trips led by faculty experts. Ranging from single-day to month-long expeditions, every program includes learning linked to international discovery- from the study of art history in Rome to first-hand experience with human rights law in the courts of Sarajevo and Belgrade to immersion in the Moroccan business center of Fez.
With over 4 million EUR awarded to students last year, our scholarships and financial aid program is one of the largest of any university in Europe. We are committed to support students of all nationalities to successfully complete their undergraduate or graduate studies, and to encourage economic and social diversity across our entire student community.
AUP students and alumni are distinguished within the global labor market by their cross-cultural outlook, multilingual skill set, and excellent problem solving abilities. Close to nine out of every ten recent graduates have furthered their studies and pursued international careers within a year of graduation. Faculty advisors and experienced alumni working in 142 countries offer support and guidance to all AUP students through unparalleled networking opportunities- from classroom contacts to internships opportunities, and ultimately, to your career. After graduation, most students begin a career in sectors such as communications, NGOs, economics, international organizations, or fashion and luxury. About a third of our students further their education at highly ranked international graduate schools including Columbia, Duke, ESSEC, Harvard, King's, LSE, NYU, Oxford, MIT, and many more.
I enjoy being here because of the quality of the education. There is everything from educational trips across the world to a social life which the student government facilitates very well. I have noticed that there are some students who do not really prefer going to pubs and night clubs or some who do not prefer outdoor activities - even those who prefer different things! Regardless, AUP has things available for each kind of student. Besides, since the students are an integral part of facilitating matters of the school, many students of every character are empowered to create smaller communities with interests in the community of AUP. It is great!Read More
